1 out of 5 eggsNot for phones

Pros: I guess it'll work for data but I didn't need or use it for that.

Cons: The name & description give the impression that this will work with phones & the call quality is horrible.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy Jack 2

Pros: The right model for the application works great.

Cons: There are two models - the 211-D and the 211-V. The ad seem to leave this out.

Other Thoughts: D is for data, V is for voice. For some reason this is not made really clear. Data is for everything except voice.

You only need "V" is if you want to add an extension telephone somewhere.

1 out of 5 eggsShould specify that it's a data only solution

Pros: Not too pricey. Not too big.

Cons: I didn't read the reviews far enough to find the one that said this isn't for voice. It sure isn't! The buzz/hum is too much for voice calls. I was fooled because it worked for a week or so before the humming started, but once it started to hum there was no stopping it.

Other Thoughts: If the model V (voice) was clearly shown as an option, it would save us and Newegg some headaches. I'd also expect to pay a couple of bucks more for the cleaner signal, which should make a little extra for Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat product

Pros: Easy to install and it works. Hooked it up to my DISH receiver and it worked first time.

Cons: You do need to find 2 circuits on the same high line. Power to your house comes in on 2 high lines and a return. Return to either high is 115 volts AC.

Other Thoughts: Read the specs on any item. If it doesn't say it can extend DSL lines then it can't do it, DUH.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Quite Well...

Pros: Have been successfully using one base station and two receivers in our home for just over a year now to connect our Dish Network satellite receivers to the phone line. There were no phone jacks in either of the locations that I needed to put a received, so these worked out great. Both function flawlessly, and yes I have plugged a phone into both and voice calling seems to work just fine as well...

Cons: Wish I would have known what @prakash said in his review that if you ask for them, Dish Network would give you these for free... Oh well. They've paid for themselves at this point anyhow in the $5 a month that I am saving on my Dish service.

Other Thoughts: Actually just reccomended these to my Sister in law for her Direct TV satellite setup.

3 out of 5 eggsHalf Satisifed

Pros: Works with Dish Network

Cons: Does not work for voice phone. Nowhere in the description does it indicate that there are two models of PX-211: The PX-211D (for data only) and the PX-211V for (voice or data). The units I received from Newegg are the D's (data only). They do work, but with a great deal of buzzing and noise in the background.

Other Thoughts: I spent 60 dollars on one set with an additional extension base and it makes a horrible phone jack for voice. Newegg does not even indicate this as a consideration when buying this product.

I think this product is poorly marketed by phonex as it shows a phone hooked straight up to the product even though what's in the box is not indicated for use with a telephone.

4 out of 5 eggsGood quick fix...

Pros: Works as advertised for phone use. No simpler solution in the absence of a phone jack.

Cons: Very slight buzz on the phone line, but not enough to make it annoying. Will update if necessary.

Other Thoughts: First off, Newegg shipping ROCKS as always. Placed my order 03/24/09 @ approx 1:00-1:15pm (UPS 3-Day) and it arrived this morning, 03/25/09, with my normal UPS Ground drop-offs.
As for the unit itself, it's works fine with minimal buzz on the line. It's supposed to work best when plugged direct into an outlet, not a power strip/surge protector/UPS. I may try it just to see if that 'filters' out any of the hum, but I can live with it.
My laptop died this week, so while it's going in for depot work I've moved across the room and taken over what was previously our Shipping PC. Probably half the calls to our office eventually come to me and having to get up in the middle of something to walk just 15ft to answer my phone was getting darn annoying. So close, yet just far enough away as to be almost unusable. A cordless phone wouldn't replace our fancy office phones with their capabilities and the cost of wireless headsets was too much for a temporary fix. This is perfect.
