Cons: -No proper online play -Forgettable soundtrack
Other Thoughts: I've played both MNR-RT and MK7. So, this review will mostly be a comparison of the two games since they came out near the same time.
As far as graphics, MNR is one of those games that actually takes advantage of the hardware. In this game you can actually see the individual blades of grass, which actually makes for the interesting driving.
As far as soundtrack, MK7 wins by far. MNR's music is basically filler.
As far as tracks, I found MNR's to be more open. The traps also seem more intense.
As far as AI, I felt that MNR's was more fair. MK7's AI seem to, at times, gang up on you. I also like that in MNR's, all attacks are theoretically avoidable. In MK7, it's a roll of the dice.
As far as controls/driving, I felt that MNR takes a little more skill. I like the fact that you are handsomely awarded for your tricks. In MK7, drifting can sometimes work to your detriment. In MNR, you can also do more while in the air.
The biggest weakness of MNR is proper online play. Unless you're close to folks, it ain't happenin'. It's a real shame since it's an otherwise great game. In this day and age, not racing game should be released without online play, period. Well, at least the game supports trophies.
So, overall, both games have comparable single-player campaigns. Unfortunately MNR-TT's lack of proper online play is a major mark against it.
