4 out of 5 eggsThrottle needs work

Pros: The joystick has almost no wiggle and adjustable resistance which leaves nothing much to be desired.

Cons: The throttle feels very low quality with no resistance and a lot of wiggle.

Other Thoughts: Nice ergonomic design, being detachable is a big plus. Buttons work well for the low price point.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for the price

Pros: Plug and play worked great, no driver install needed on windows 7. Good number and configuration of buttons on the stick and throttle. Plastic body, but still decently sturdy. Tension control is a definite perk.

Cons: After a couple of weeks the whole thing squeaks a good bit during use. I can see this as something that might annoy some, but it doesn't really bother me. Wish it had tension control on the throttle as well, as it's a little floppy for my taste.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to play Elite: Dangerous with and it has been prefect for this (after a very small amount of tweaking). I tried E:D later at a friend's house with his X52 and while it's a great joystick it was too loose for my liking. Probably didn't do the X52 any favors playing with a completely foreign control setup, but after trying that I was doubly happy with my T.Flight purchase. I'm not saying it's the best joystick on the market, but for the price it is absolutely fantastic. In a perfect world they would offer the T.Flight joystick with the X52 throttle for $100. That I would do in a heartbeat.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect budget flight stick

Pros: Plenty of buttons, good feel for both throttle and stick, easy to separate and re-attach

Cons: I keep seeing comments about the cord between the throttle and stick could be longer, It feels and plays fine when connected though, I'd say it's preferance

Other Thoughts: I bought this for Elite:Dangerous and it works like a dream. Hardest part was figuring out what did what and how best to configure it to my liking. Works well with Star Wars Tie Fighter, X-Wing and Tachyon: The Fringe too! If you're confused when setting it up, READ THE MANUAL.

4 out of 5 eggsSturdy, accurate, responsive, and inexpensive

Pros: Sturdy when assembled as a single unit (yes, the left and right controls are detachable). The controls are programmable, accurate and responsive. It has pre-mapped controllers for FSX and Tom Clancy's Hawk. It's compatible with PC and PS3.

Cons: When assembled as a single unit, the controls are very close together, but you'll barely notice after an hour of play. When one separates each side, in an attempt to achieve a more comfortable posture, the two bases tend to become unsteady when applying a moderately-low amount of force during use.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this controller for Steam's Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) after a week of researching compatible, reliable, and relatively inexpensive flight sim controllers.

I decided on this one because:

1) it's compatible with the FSX
2) It's under $60.00
3) It's received more positive reviews than negative.
4) It's a very popular choice among flight sim enthusiasts.
4) It's 100-times better than a standard gaming controller.

For the money, you can't get much better than this. I received this controller earlier today, and I put in around five straight hours in FSX.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: Thrustmaster really knows their stuff. I'll start with the stick.

The stick feels great in my small-ish hands. It's short and has some bulk at the top which helps with grip and comfort. It's quite tight when centered - barely any wobble at all. The buttons are easy to reach, and the knob underneath the unit lets you adjust the sticks' resistance. Resistance and travel are smooth across the axis'.

The throttle is nice as well. A lot of buttons on both sides of the unit, and a few on the platform - all easy to reach. A small notch in the center of the axis gives you tactile feedback when you've hit the center and will keep you there until you move out of it.

The buttons on this HOTAS feel and work as desired. None stick or feel loose. The plastic is what you'd expect for a cheaper unit, but is better than what's on my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro stick that it replaced.

Cons: I'd trade a few of the buttons on the throttle for a thumb hat, but this is just my preference so I won't dock an egg.

Other Thoughts: Like I stated above, this stick replaced my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I was looking for something to get me into the HOTAS setups and I chose this. If you're like me and you've grown accustomed to the 3D Pro, the stick in this set will take a little getting used to as it has some built-in hardware deadzones. I can't say if other sticks are made like this.

Thrustmaster has a big gap in their HOTAS product lineup. The only other HOTAS set they make is the Warthog and that's around $500, an order of magnitude more than this unit. It would be awesome of them to make a HOTAS set priced somewhere between the two. The Saitek HOTAS' in the price range of $200 seem to have terrible QA issues ever since MadCatz bought them, and I stay away from MadCatz products since their stuff breaks so often. So please Thrustmaster, consider the $200 range market for HOTAS' because space sims are in the rise and not everyone is willing to pay $500 for a HOTAS.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Throttle

Pros: First the stick: It is a twist stick that allows you to control the rudder via the twist. Additionally, it has a trigger, a high index finger button above the trigger, two thumb buttons and a POV hat that are all solid. The sensor for the stick isn't super high resolution (like a TM Warthog, etc.), so you won't get incredible accuracy, but it's good enough for most games that you would play with a stick. There is a tension adjustment rheostat-like knob on the bottom which is great. Lastly, if you don't like the stick twist, you can disable it using the allen key attached to the underside of the stick to tighten a hex nut on the right side of the stick near where it meets the base.

The Throttle: The truly unique thing about this throttle is the rocker for rudder pedals on the front of the throttle. It is VERY well designed and works perfectly if you don't like using stick twist for rudder control. There are 6 buttons on the throttle, and it also has a neutral (50%) detent.

Cons: Tough to get back in to the packaging if you're moving to a new house...had to watch an unboxing video to figure it out.

Other Thoughts: You can also use the allen key on the bottom to tightly attach the throttle and stick bases together. There are two hex nuts on the bottom of the stick base that you tighten after you fit the bases together. Or, you can separate them and comfortably sit on the wire between the two with the throttle on the left and the stick on the right. The wire for the USB connection to the PC comes out of the throttle base.

Nothing beats this stick at this price point for versatility of rudder control (the rudder rocker on the throttle alone makes this stick worth trying out). There isn't another throttle on the market like it. The center detent on the throttle is also a huge plus for games that have both forward and reverse thrust, like space sims, mechwarrior online, etc. Other higher end throttles only come with idle and afterburner detents at the extreme ends of the axis.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Flight Stick!

Pros: This stick is a great introduction into using a HOTAS for most flying and battle games. I bought this item for Elite:Dangerous and I must say a huge improvement was immediately felt. The action and response time is flawless and it's also very comfortable and doesn't produce sweaty, clammy hands after a few hours of use. I was very impressed with the amount of buttons and customization I could achieve with this stick and I look forward to using it for many years ahead...(unless it's replaced by a Saitek Rhino, shhh don't tell my Thrustmaster I said that)

Cons: If I had to chose any, I would love a few more buttons for customization, in Elite's case another joypad for headlook mode, but that's really digging there's absolutely nothing wrong with this flight stick.

Other Thoughts: Getting to know this flights stick and what you can do with it involves the internet and videos, the packaging leaves a lot to be told. I would also like to have had a choice in color, being extrememly picky at this point, an all black edition would be golden.

4 out of 5 eggsMust have for Elite: Dangerous

Pros: As the title says, I purchased this for playing Elite: Dangerous. This is the first joystick I've ever used, and I'm in love.
- More buttons than I require.
- Easy to setup and use
- Immersive
- Great value for the price

Cons: The flight stick makes a creaking/squeaky noise ever so slightly when in use. Kind of annoying, hence the loss of one egg.

Other Thoughts: I personally play with the thruster and stick connected together, sitting on my lap. When i had the unit separated on my desk, it felt uncomfortable. The cord in between the two pieces is really rigid, so getting things in the right position was impossible.
