2 out of 5 eggsErgonomic but ineffective

Pros: The remote feels good when you hold it and press buttons.

Cons: The remote didn't work on my Sony surround sound. As it is a popular brand and the frequency range of my Sony remote is within the operational frequency range of this Universal range, I expected it to work. It did not. Additionally, while I can enter the pre-programmed device codes, I can not customize the universal remote functions by mixing my tv commands and my cable box commands. This is because the remote can't learn all of the signals that it can actually output, which seems a little strange. I ended up using it in a room that I didn't need it in as much just to avoid the issues involved with a return. There are 6 backlit buttons. The features list doesn't quite drive that point home, simply stating that
there are Backlit device buttons, which is true but misleading.

Other Thoughts: I would consider a different remote.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Works great. Works with my Toshiba TV and my Samsung surround sound.

Cons: I read online that it worked with the little comcast digital converter boxes. That was completely incorrect. Nothing seems to work with those boxes.

5 out of 5 eggsRemote control made easy

Pros: Easy of use and was able to program all of my components.

Cons: Learning curve on programming from remote to remote. Once you get the hang of it, then it's easy

4 out of 5 eggsOld School Remote

Pros: Quick and easy setup - hold the component button (IE:TV) down and press numbers sequentially until it turns off. I had the basics for my Sony TV, Yamaha Receiver, and Xbox 360 programmed in 5 minutes.

Supports macros (IE: Activities) that take a little more work, and allows you to wait 0.5 sec or hit a key to continue for long command stacks and component response. Overall, very well engineered product for <$20.

Appears to be very sturdy to withstand the abuse of kids that killed my old Logi 550 remote. Turns off buttons if pressed for >30 seconds if stuck in the couch to prevent battery fatigue.

Supports code specific, and head-head learning.

Very well written instruction manual in ENGLISH!!

Cons: Must use the remote itself to program - non-USB / software supported that we've gotten ourselves spoiled to.

Not back lit.

You'll need an original OEM to truly tweak to it's full potential.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!!!

Pros: Works on my Xbox 360, Verizon box, TV.

5 out of 5 eggs2nd time around

Pros: reliable, cost effective, and it learns. Bought one originally elsewhere. I used the learning to set it up in a way that made sense to me. It was quick and if you can follow clearly written instructions, simple.

Cons: no back light

Other Thoughts: If I like something I stick with it and since I needed a second one, I looked specifically for this unit and to my delight it was on Newegg. I got used to it by feel, IE 2 buttons on front end, or the off center rounded, side to side, trough in the back and I have memorized the few buttons I need to use in the dark. This was the only learning remote I have ever used that wasn't "Professional", complicated and very expensive. I am well pleased with the results.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: I almost paid $100 for a fancy remote with a screen but really all I needed was this.
* Learn any button for any device
* Map volume buttons to stereo system in all modes (etc)
* Macros and stuff

Cons: No back-light (but high contrast design makes it pretty easy to see in low light)

Other Thoughts: Basic set up in less than 5 minutes.
Learned my TV and stereo: "the easy way"
DVD player: "the 3 digit code way"
3-way HDMI switch: "learning mode"

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does the job.

Cons: None - considering the price

Other Thoughts: As with all remotes - needs a locator! We got this to use when we couldn't find the regular remotes and now we lose this too.

5 out of 5 eggsBest $20 I ever spent

Pros: It literally took me 20 easy relaxing minutes to connect my 360, sony surround sound, sony blu ray player, philips 46" led, and yes even my HD cable box.

I was easily amazed at all the options and ways that this remote could be programmed especially considering that it only cost $20.

If a button wasn't working then I would just let the remotes date (learning) and BOOM it works.

This remote has macro features where you can push a single button to turn on a certain group of components at the same time in a specific order. Seriously? This remote is official.

Man cave complete!

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: The only thing I couldn't program was my wifes 32" rca hdtv...

But she's a cheapy cheaperson and her tv is boosville so I don't care. I did get it to power on and off using learn.

All in all I'll say that if you're looking for a remote to replace the 5 plus you have laying around then this is the remote to get.

5 out of 5 eggsBargain

Pros: 3 levels of setup; the first level is dead easy and had 3 of 5 devices working in the first minute. The second level was too frustrating, involving clicking up or down arrow keys over and over hoping to hit on it. The Learn mode though is excellent. I don't want to just learn to imitate my 5 remotes, I want better integration since all should use the volume on my Receiver, and this does that with ease. Whether I'm running the receiver, Blu-ray, XBox, VCR or TV the volume and mute use the theater speakers. Similarly I set up to switch inputs from any setting.
I"ve owned dozens of remotes and this wins the price/performance battle hands down.

Cons: No lighting - you have to learn the locations.
Learn mode was a little finicky - I had to repeat the same sequence more than once; the safest is to program only one button at a time and then save it, and be sure to hold down long enough on the save.
If it was more expensive I'd give it a 4 but for less than $20 bucks it's a deal.

Other Thoughts: I've got old (VCR) and new (Blu-ray, amp) components and wasn't able to make all my other remotes control enough of the other components; I had to use 2-3 depending on what we were watching. The learning mode saves the day there.
