1 out of 5 eggsHorrible configuration and software

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, mydlink enabled

Pros: Cheap, Online viewing, and Motion Detection.

Cons: The worst software I have ever experienced across any platform. During install for the viewer D-Link entirely disables User Account Controls for Windows 7. No requests or forewarning, it just disables it permanently in the background and pops up a notification as the installation continues. If you ever enable it back, the software breaks. I have never known of any reputable developers to just permanently disable Microsoft's security because they don't want to ask for admin rights. Unless you want to run software through a VM I can't recommend this camera to anyone.

The camera is also by default stuck at half the advertised resolution until you navigate to the configuration page through the IP address and fix it yourself. The other setup pages won't help you with that option. Just an annoyance.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad!

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, mydlink enabled

Pros: I'm so glad this has both full web GUI firmware and the cloud rather than cloud only, which is what everything's going to due to cost of developing both. This was designed before all that so its one of the few with both. I bought this in a great combo deal with a DLink 110 smart plug, which is cloud-only and that thing was a bear to set up because it severely restricts your install options. You can't get to the meat of it like you can this camera.

Cons: I don't love the exterior design, especially the base and the fact I couldn't seem to unscrew it from the camera to use another mount. It seems to be glued. The other issue was the IR Cut is mechanical, so you hear this clicky sound when it changes, but thanks to real firmware, you can change the light sensitive for the switching, or like I did, set up a tough schedule of when I do and don't want it on. So although the clicking may irritate a baby, you can stop it from happening. You can also go day-only or night-only as far as that IR Cut. I think newer camera's IR Cuts are electronic, but haven't experienced one yet.

1 out of 5 eggsCamera Good _ HORRIBLE MYDLINK

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, mydlink enabled

Pros: Cameras themselves are pretty good, decent price

Cons: I have two of these as well as a DCS-910L. Cameras might be good but the mydlink service is Horrible. I am really good at electronics (I am Sys Admin) and I have never seen any cloud service worst than this.

I was able to associate all three cameras to mydlink service after numerous firmware update fails. Two of the cameras are hooked wireless (about 20-30ft away from AP) and one is wired.

The mydlink service is like winning the lottery. Majority of the time it will only show image from one camera (and this can either be the wired or wireless, just depends on the mood of mydlink service)

Even from local network I can't view the cameras. It either tries to connect to cameras (green whirlwind and tells me not enough bandwidth (yeah right, I have gigabit wired and WiFi N AP speed) or it will find the cameras but will never be able to display the security footage at all.

I have updated all of their firmware, I am up to date on all of my browsers and java plug ins etc. I have used both IE, Firefox and chrome but no joy.

So basically, there is no way for me to watch my cameras. if you are looking for a functional camera that you can watch live footage, look elsewhere.

Mydlink service brings down this cameras functionality. They need to pay a little more attention to the cloud service. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat camera, great tech experience

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, mydlink enabled

Pros: Just got this camera, worked on my android but couldn't see it using my PC. Internet search led me to believe it had something to do with Java. Emailed support but couldn't resolve per the email instructions. Called DLink support and spoke with tech id#AR004301 case#C6678387. He really knew his stuff, was easy to work with and resolved issues in short time. Thank you

Cons: Camera picture isn't crisp but clear enough for my needs

5 out of 5 eggsdlink 932l

This review is from: D-Link DCS-932L Cloud Wireless IP Camera, 640x480 Resolution, Night Vision, mydlink enabled

Pros: Reasonably easy to setup, affordable, good features for a cheap price. Wireless. Great for entry level security / monitoring. My wife watches our dog on it while she is at work through the mydlink portal. We will monitor our home now while were away. Turning on / off the email notifications is a matter of a few clicks.

Cons: low resolution, needs to be plugged into an outlet as opposed run by a battery.

Other Thoughts: I wanted this camera for its email alert feature. I almost didn't buy it because of others complaints that the system didn't work. It took a little effort, but logging onto the camera itself through it's IP address, or the advanced settings tab on mydlink dot com allowed me to enter the smtp information for my email address. Search for your provider's settings and input them there. DLINK's website offers a basic input means for email notification, it didn't work for me initially, but once I input the smtp info correctly through advanced settings, it works great! I'm happy with this camera and the cheap security system I have now.
