1 out of 5 eggsunderpowered

Pros: shipped quickly

Cons: This unit is simply under powered and out of date. Unable to update firmware and use newer browser. Stuck w/IE7 only. To complex to use cell phone feature. Slow to change functions. It will drive you up a wall.

Other Thoughts: Spend a little more and get a better unit. Manufacturer seems to drop support when a newer model is out.

2 out of 5 eggsHas Issues Recording

Pros: Has the best video quality of the units I have tried in this price range.

Cons: Refuses to record on channel 1 until the unit is reset, then stops recording again within a day or so. This defeats the purpose of having a security system in my opinion. Forget finding any support on Zmodo's website. There are no firmware updates.

Other Thoughts: I bought this unit because Zmodo was confident enough to have sample videos on their website which looked pretty good compared to other cheap units I have tried.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome value

Pros: Excellent value for the price. Rough-in set up accomplished in minutes. I am amazed at the image quality. Cameras included are great for entryways and hallways. IR LED lighting is perfect for the design of the cameras narrow angle! Newegg has low cost cameras with wider angle views / 30 + IR LED for anyone wanting wide angle views. (i.e. Zmodo CM-S23349SV-AD). Asee software AP works greaton both my wife’s android cell and my iPhone. Initially, I attempted to use typical ports for cell phone set up but on re-reading the instructions, I realized that cell phones must use port 18004. Has been easy to view my security camera images from anywhere since changing that parameter.

Cons: Manuals are not up todate with product changes. Motion detection recording does not work well... ( or I do not know how to set up.) Seems to record all the time. Will shorten HHD life.

Other Thoughts: ALSO--- Low cost IR illuminators can increase night distances easily and very inexpensively. The 12 volt powersupply can easily power 8 cameras and two or three IR illuminators.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage DVR System easy setup

Pros: 8 cameras, advanced DVR with many features, internet access.

A great daytime system but needs lots of secondary light for it to function well at night.

Cons: This is the biggie: Night vision is not 0 lux. The 2-camera set from Walmart is a pain because of constant need to monitor your DVR (not included) but the night vision is 10x better. Amazing for the price. But it was a hassle. So I bought this 8 cam system thinking the night vision would be at least as good.

But it's not. You must spend lots on lighting plus solar lighting plus power supply backup for DVR system in case of power failure, the first thing an experienced criminal would do before breaking in.

Other Thoughts: Would like the option of exchanging 4 of the cams for 4 0 lux cams without having to exchange entire system. Who wants to run wires all over again? I wish the cams were wider angle too.

In the end. I'll be spending closer to $1000 once power supply backup is in place plus solar lighting.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Quick set up good features, decent image quality. Peace of mind when away just pull out the phone and take a look. Tech support helped set up remote view in 10 minutes.

Cons: Manual and directions poor.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera System

Pros: Neat little system, with all the standard options, not to mention it was a breaze to setup.

Cons: The only problem is the cameras are not wide/fish angle lens so they only point in one direction.

Other Thoughts: But for the money, what more can you ask for, plus the Newegg discount was a added bonus, and as always fast 3day shipping, thanks Egg

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: Cameras are not bulky.
Motion detection.

Cons: Horrible picture quality.
Colors are faded.
These are under normal conditions. If the camera is located near (not next to! can be 5-6ft away) a light source forget about getting any picture.

Other Thoughts: Horrible camera, horrible picture quality. I bought it because it was cheap. Wasted hours to install and to test. Don't buy!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Good deal for the cash ( promo for $299 at the time). Able to view cameras on cell and over the internet.
Had it up and running in less than 10 min. iPhone app allows you to view 1-4 cameras at one time, 16 total can be assigned and the app is free.

Cons: Getting the plugin for internet explorer to install properly was a little tricky as I had to adjust some security settings within the browser. The app they recomended for my iphone (Asee+) is pretty generic and provides no instructions but was able to get it to work

Other Thoughts: Like with all these types of electronics you have to be at least a little tech savy. Read the manual and don't be afraid to poke around a little bit and you'll be fine. If you just wish to view the cameras on a monitor, the setup is very easy. Configuring the web stuff will be tricky for some but I've seen a lot worse.

1 out of 5 eggsmade in hell

Pros: Newegg got it here in a day- Been a newegg shopper for 9 years now.

Cons: NO POWER BUTTON. One manual says "set up, then press power button (showing photo of power button)" - the other manual (quick) says "Press power button on back on unit. - True, i just worked a 16 hour day - but I can find a power button and this device doesn't have one. The 'front' power button they highlight in the photo is actually a USB port - as shown in the photo - they goofed on this one.

Other Thoughts: Good luck finding any info on this product anywhere - all you'll find are links off other 'deal' websites linking back to Newegg's great price.

If they solve this problem for me and don't cost me any more time or money - I'll change my review, till then.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME

Pros: Hooked up system and ran all 8 camera wires in 4 hours. Could not be happier. Walked around entire house and motion detection followed my flawlessly. System is easy to use, simple interface but any option you would want. For the price I am really happy. As usual Newegg shipped immediatly and I am very happy with this puchase.

Cons: I really cant think of any.
