5 out of 5 eggsdeal was excellent

Pros: decent camera set up for 120 that I paid for it. doesn't come with hdd. but I had one laying around for storage. Suitable for smaller buildings that cameras aren't going to be too far(night vision)

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggsGood kit for the price

Pros: Does all it says it will do. Software is OK and the cameras are IR which is good for dark nights. Daytime view is good but not crisp, night vision even fuzzier but usable, after all they are IR CAMS.
Nice 60 foot cables are food quality.
Pretty good deal considering all you need is included, except monitor and a SATA drive. A Seagate ST model is recommended but I used and old 320 GB SATA drive I had around and it works fine.
The streaming bandwidth for remote viewing is around 500 KB/sec.
It was easy to setup remote monitoring on my LAN.
No mics but DVR supports 4 audio ports.

Cons: Don't like the red circular IR beams, like hey burglar, here's the CCTV cam over here, which may be good or bad?.
The IR beam is too centered and anything in the middle of pic is overexposed. Should be more diffused.
Has 1/4" lens and I was expecting way better resolution. Next time I will spend more on better cams.
Uses two 'wall bricks' for power.
No shutdown button, just pull the plug which causes data loss on current video streams and incomplete files. Not problem if ON 24/7.

Other Thoughts: It all boils down to "How good are the cams?" when purchasing CCTV security system.
Overall I think it's a nice kit for the price, which BTW was close-out priced.

2 out of 5 eggsFull of bugs... horrible tech support

Pros: Price was good. It records video. Motion detection works pretty well.

Cons: USB backup feature does not work. So if you capture a crime on hard drive, don't expect to export it to USB stick. (This was my case.) Tech support guy Frank couldn't help and was rude and simply hung up on the chat session. There is no way to recover the video files from the hard drive as it's a ext2 file system with *.nvr index and a raw partition with the elementary streams on it. Thus windows nor Linux can see the *.264 files directly. Also the 'reverse' playback doesn't work right. This product is loaded with bugs, so don't rely on it when you really need something solid. It's a shoddy toy. Might be Ok for watching a cat while you are at work but not for real surveillance when it counts.

Other Thoughts: Unreliable and buggy product. When something serious happens, this can bite you bad... which unfortunately was my case.

3 out of 5 eggsFair but poor cameras.

Pros: Good software and good software support and website. Dvr is small enough to be placed anywhere discreet.
Cable is small and for the most part adequate in length. Snapping in and formatting A Harddrive for recording purpose is childplay. Unit once set up can operate in headless mode. Cameras withstood the blizzard without collecting moisture. Motion detection is good.

Cons: Poor cameras. Day time visibility is good, night time visibility is barely 6 ft. Camera angle is very narrow making placement an exercise in geometry and contortion. Cable is exposed and not routed through the mounting base. This leave the thin cable exposed and easily vandalized. The narrow angle and limited distance make coverage difficult. The monitoring software is not available for linux systems despite the fact that the DVR is Linux based.

Other Thoughts: Buy better cameras to replace cameras for critical areas. CCD may be better but experiment. Disabling the active X security settings in internet explorer is not an ideal setup. For Android two software is available and they load fast on android 4.0 up. they are also available for android 2.2

4 out of 5 eggsAlot of bang for the buck

Pros: Right out of the box add a drive I went big so I have more playback. can see at night. And the tech support is great they will get you running, as I did have a network issue (my ISP blocks port 80) and they got me around that. Tech support is English speaking.

Cons: only IE seems to work with the web client but again its not a $1500 system, I do agree the email with image is some delayed and missing the shot but it does give you a time stamp to search playback.

Other Thoughts: I will probably buy again to setup for friends.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent DVR, but bad cameras

Pros: instant on. easy to setup and use. can email pictures with motion detection alarm

Cons: dvr is slow. motion detection doesn't capture the motion, but starts recording 3-5 seconds after the motion is detected, which by that time the person is already past the camera's view. the cameras' picture is dark and can barely detect shapes, even in broad daylight. maybe it's the cheap cables that came with it? i plan to order a better system with better cameras
