4 out of 5 eggsGreat, but...

Pros: 1. Lots of alerts to choose from, not just weather-related ones.
2. SAME codes let you customize the alerts for your area.

Cons: 1. LOUD SIREN! There is no way to turn the LOUD siren off, either it's (1) siren, (2) siren+voice, or (3) disable both.
2. Would also prefer if this radio worked better on batteries. It has battery ability for when the power goes out, but you can't run on batteries alone for more than a few days

Other Thoughts: Only buy this radio if you don't mind jumping because you didn't expect a siren to go off. Otherwise, it's a really good radio!

1 out of 5 eggsBroken after 1 Year 1 Month

Pros: Worked good for a year only.

Cons: Search the web before buying. There are many reports that after about a year of use the AM/FM radio still works but the weather radio part breaks, no sound. Many of use have tried resets different channels, nothing, Its of no use now and they want $45 to fix it (the cost of a new one)

Other Thoughts: Avoid this item

1 out of 5 eggsWeather Radio Stopped Working!

Pros: Lots of features - The radio does lots of things, but not many of them well. Radio sensitivity is adequate, if just barely.

Cons: After a little more than one year, the weather radio stopped working. But the most disturbing thing is that there was no indication that the weather radio had stopped working - the AM and FM radio functions still work fine. But the weather radio might have been non-functional for weeks or months without our knowing about it. We are just lucky we haven't had any severe weather in the past several months. Yes, we should have been testing the radio regularly - but this kind of failure should be extremely rare, and yet I read that others have experienced the exact same problem.

Other Thoughts: Above all else, you need your weather radio to be reliable. I can put up with a lot of shortcomings, provided a safety product can be counted on to keep me safe. This radio falls short.

5 out of 5 eggsNIce

Pros: Keeps you informed in case of emergency. Does a lot more than just give you storm warnings.

Cons: If this has a con it would be that is it a little pricey.

Other Thoughts: I have had this for five years and it still works flawlessly. If you live in an area that is subject to bad storms of any kind this could be a life saver. This does a lot more than just give warnings for storms and you do have some control over the warnings you receive.

1 out of 5 eggsNot good! ... won't buy again

Pros: As long it works
... at least it forwards warning messages to you, audible and ... a little bit visible
... as long it works

Cons: Bought two of them May, 2008

Both eat batteries, very poor battery life

Both ... reception ... poor

Both ... sound quality ... very poor, like the small pocket transistor radios 30/40 years ago, rec. ext. speaker

Display quality ... poor, you can read messages in a small range of angles, only

1 of 2 ... out of the blue sky, weather radio is dead now, FM/AM-radio still works

Other Thoughts: Not worth the money.
At Midland they charge you $ 89.99 for a new one, what a joke.
At Midland radio you can read ...
"5. A flat rate of $45.00 will apply to repairs not covered by warranty or units that are over one year old ..."
... what a joke, you still can get them for less than $ 45, new, of course warranty incl.
... I bought my two radios here at newegg for $ 47,99, each May, 2008

1 out of 5 eggswr-300

Pros: full featured, nice design. Newegg upstanding as always delivering promptly.

Cons: Bad reception inside, may not be fault of radio. Main problem is short life. Last week of June decide to change room around and unplugged wall outlet to move, letting it run on batteries(recently replaced) for a few minutes and noticed a little later all it had on the screen was the backlight. No print or letters whatsoever. Completely fubared. Had been working fine for all other power outages that happen here every now and then. Not worth the $50 cost. It is out of warranty and they want $45 plus shipping to repair. So as far as the WR-300, not going to waste another $50 on an item that won't last. This is Midlands fault and not a bad mark against Newegg.

Other Thoughts: Going to try the WR-100 to see if any better. If I have the same luck, I won't buy midland products again.

5 out of 5 eggsWeather Radio

Pros: This is an awesome weather radio. It gives us peace of mind when we sleep because we cannot hear the sirens at night. Just be sure to change it so that the alarm does not go off for thunder storms. Otherwise, you will be woken up repeatedly at night.

Cons: Not easy to find the menu to change the alert type.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the Job!

Pros: I bought it to warn me about weather, and it does just that! Easy to set up (once you find the channel that works best in your area), easy to customize what zone you are in, and you can't accidentally turn off the alarm for tornado warnings.

Cons: The regular radio is weak, and it's a little bulky for something you set up and forget about.
