Sony Blu-ray Disc Smart Player BDP-S185

Pros: Sony, quality but don't know for how long, hope this product last long. Network connection is fast. I like it.

Cons: Now a day everyone whats you to create an account to use their products, had to register in two places to be able to synchronize this player so I can play Netflix. It took me hours because also I didn't set it on a big screen, so the menus looks blurry and uncomfortable to read ( 19" )

Pros: I bought this because I am a minimalist and the last thing I wanted was a big DVD player on my nicely arranged console. This thing is TINY!!! You barely notice it, no bright lights or anything distracting. Super easy to understand and navigate the menus, I registered in minutes easily with the Am**n which I am trying out, so far I think better than Netflix (as much as I detest A***on the way they price out the small vendors) There is a lot of stuff on there that most people wont want, but I kind of enjoyed playing streaming from the eclectic mix of items, German Art, AUDI. Streams everything perfectly and real fast....I'm using a powerline 200meg adapter to connect to my switch....no problems.

Love playing Youtube, but the search is really bizzare and scrolling through brings up every persons contribution....very hard to find actually what you are looking for.

Very very fast starting DVD's and picture quality excellent.

Cons: Would love to be able to stream from my PC

Pros: I like the Sony PS3 type interface. Awesome remote.

Cons: Lasted me about a day enough. Blu-ray player works great but main purpose I purchased item was for it's Hulu and Netflix capabilities. Some how the icons disappeared and added once I didn't care for. Pressed Netflix button on remote "Error 301". I googled for a day trying all the "Fixes" in forums but nothing worked.

Other Thoughts: Decent player, need more options in settings. Maybe add the capability to add/delete the applications for video websites. And fix these internet errors that keep popping up.

Pros: Tiny. USB Video playback of most formats. Great Blu-Ray picture. DVDs play fine.

Cons: Long boot time and Blu-Ray spool up. The registration at both Sony.com AND Netflix was tedious. Netflix would stream an HD movie for about a minute or two and go to buffering for at least 30 seconds. It happened repeatedly for every movie I tried. I was using the same ethernet cable from my router that I use to stream Netflix on my PS3 and have never had this problem. Started a movie on this player and switched the cable back to the PS3 and finished the movie no problem. Oddly, when Netflix first starts to stream it does a "test" and shows me 10-13 Mbps, but when the movie starts it drops to under 2Mbps every time. The boot times are kind of long, and the unit sends no signal at all during short transitions which makes my Yamaha receiver AND TV search for signals repeatedly before any video even starts playing...

Other Thoughts: I read elsewhere that the latest firmware update messed up Netflix playback. If you want it for anything other than Netflix it's hard to go wrong, but if Netflix is going to be a big part of your life avoid this one.

Pros: Was a good update over my old blu-ray player. Really like the easy menu (PS3) setup.

Cons: Blu-ray player worked great for a day. some reason lost Netfilx, Hulu, Pandora Icons in video menu selection tab. And tried pressing sony player remote Netflix button and came up with "Error 301" searched all over internet to find a fix and nothing worked.

Other Thoughts: More options in the setup/fix it your self settings would be good. More options for deleting icons/adding icons in internet video would be nice.

Pros: Pretty good so far. Plays dvds and bluray discs without a problem

Pros: This is a great tiny player. I mean tiny. I replaced my blu-ray player from about 4 years ago so maybe I'm not used to the new technology the kids are using today. But it's about a third of the size of my old Samsung player.

I was a little nervous purchasing from Electronics Express but their shipping was super ridiculous fast. Fast as in I ordered two things, one was this player and the other an item from the Egg proper, and Electronics Express beat the Egg by a day. That's some fast shipping.

Cons: Seems to load, start playing, and then for whatever reason black out the TV screen for a few seconds before continuing to play. Not a show stopper but mildly annoying.

Other Thoughts: Pandora and Netflix apps work great, but the rest seems like a bunch of bloat. And not sure why I need to register through Sony's website when I already have Pandora and Netflix accounts, but I'm sure it's Sony's way of tracking my habits.

Pros: Easy to set up. Even linking to Netflix only took about 10 minutes. Picture looks great. Very compact so it takes up very little room on my desktop. I use it to watch movies while I work

Cons: None really. I had some problems mastering the remote sequences, but then I never read the instructions so I learn by trial and error

Pros: The box had been open and scott taped closed. almost everry thing was included except the HDMI which was to be there but their was a three cable RCA plug cable. I wass disappointed. the next day this item was on sale for 49.++ DOLLARS.

Cons: I have not used it excet to watch a DVD anmd the storm has keep in doors

Other Thoughts: If this item was going on Sale then you shoud have told me and I would have ordereed it the next day..!

Pros: Great bang for the Buck! Nothing better than Sony...as the Reviews say! This was on Consumers Reviews...as 1 of the best Models.....as being the less expensive. The Model/s also was S390,S590, and S790 . I got so many negative reviews form the seller...after I ordered and was scared...and wanted to Cancel. I gave them a chance...and got it 1 day early....with great tracking from Fed ex. Give em 1-2 days to process...and they will ship out on time, unlike the reviews says!! 5 Eggs!

Other Thoughts: This is the best Player for the money. The Seller shipped 1 day early...with Fed ex 2 day shipping, "Free".
