4K pass-through for next generation super high resolution images

This AV receiver provides advanced HDMI features including 4K pass-through. 4K refers to four times the resolution of a 1080p display. While not yet available, 4K displays and sources are sure to become popular in the future. This receiver is capable of passing the 4K data from the source to the display, for image clarity far beyond present standards.

HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel

3D means the receiver can handle 3D signal data. The Audio Return Channel function enables data to be sent and received via the same HDMI cable, so you can hear the sound from the TV via a single HDMI cable, with no need for an extra optical cable.

Network Functions

This AV receiver provides a variety of network functions that enable you to access more sources and also enhance operation. You can connect the receiver to a PC to enjoy Internet Radio. The AV Controller app (from iTunes App Store or Android Market) lets you control various functions from your iPod, iPhone, iPad or Android phones.

AV Controller App for Easy, Convenient Operation

This AV Receiver lets you use the Yamaha AV Controller app that is downloadable from the iTunes App Store or Android Market to control power on/off and volume, select input and DSP modes and operate other functions from an iPod, iPhone, iPad or Android phones. A tablet version is also available.

AirPlay Allows Streaming Music to AV receiver

This AV receiver supports AirPlay, which means they can accept wireless music streaming from iPod touch, iPhone or iPad, as well as from iTunes on Macs or PCs. This makes it easy to enjoy music from your mobile devices or computer on your home theater system. You can use view metadata such as song title, artist name as well as album art* via AV receiver's on-screen display.

*Some models don't support album art display.

Zone B output provides 2-channel sound in a second room

Zone B output capability allows the receiver to send 2-channel sound to a second zone, so the main zone now has 5-channel output. This means that users can enjoy stereo sound in a second room. The same source will play in both zones (cannot use two sources).

YPAO Sound Optimization for Automatic Speaker Setup

YPAO analyzes the room acoustics and adjusts various audio parameters for optimum sound in just a few minutes. It's like having a professional installer calibrate your system.

USB Digital Connection for iPod, iPhone and iPad on the Front Panel

A USB port on the front panel allows convenient connection of an iPod/iPhone/iPad, which also charges when connected. Because the digital signal from the iPod/iPhone/iPad is transmitted directly to the AV receiver, there is no signal loss or interference, so you enjoy the best possible sound quality. In addition, you can use the receiver's remote control unit to operate the iPod/iPhone/iPad music playback functions.

SCENE for One-Touch Start

Pressing a SCENE button powers on the AV Receiver and selects the input source and DSP mode. You can re-set the buttons for different sources by selecting a source and DSP mode, then pressing a SCENE button for more than three seconds.

HD Audio with CINEMA DSP 3D and Virtual Presence Speaker

CINEMA DSP 3D provides a wide, high and dense sound field. HD Audio format decoding lets you enjoy HD Audio sources. Virtual Presence Speaker delivers 3-dimensional sound without actual use of presence speakers.

Input Selection in HDMI Standby Through Mode

When the AV receiver is in HDMI Standby Through mode, the input source (Blu-ray™ Disc player, game console, etc.) for viewing on the monitor can be changed via the remote control. There's no need to turn on the AV receiver in order to switch sources.

HDMI CEC for Easy Operation

Another benefit of HDMI is the availability of CEC functionality. When the unit is connected to a CEC compatible TV, it will turn on and off together with the TV, and you can use the TV remote to control the volume. CEC also provides advanced functionality with other components. For example, you can use the receiver's remote unit to control player functions like Skip and Stop.

*All connected devices must be HDMI CEC compatible. Some CEC compatible TVs/players may not work.

Subwoofer Trim for Improved Sound Imaging

The Subwoofer Trim control enhances the low frequencies by avoiding overlap with the front speaker output. This will result in a cleaner, more focused sound stage while providing a seamless frequency response. When subwoofer frequency overlap occurs in conventional systems, the overall sound is "pushed" toward the subwoofer. Subwoofer Trim takes care of this by separating the low subwoofer frequencies cleanly, thus stabilizing the front stage while providing a well-balanced enhanced bass sound.

Compressed Music Enhancer

When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. Yamaha's Compressed Music Enhancer employs sophisticated digital signal processing using exclusive algorithms to restore what was lost, so the music always sounds the way it should.

Adaptive DRC (Dynamic Range Control)

Adaptive DRC automatically adjusts the dynamic range of the sound according to the volume level. This ensures that you hear clear dialogue and vocals, and all sound effects at comfortable levels. There is no need to adjust the volume level as you listen; everything from whispers to big explosions will be heard clearly and comfortably at the same volume setting. It also tones down loud TV commercials, and is ideal for low-volume, late-night listening, when you do not want to disturb others.

ECO mode lowers power consumption by 20%*

Yamaha's new ECO mode reduces power consumption by about 20%. It can be set from the top of the GUI menu.

* Compared to power consumption when ECO mode is off (Yamaha measurement).

Selectable Auto Power Down

Auto Power Down lets you save energy by selecting to turn off the power after 2, 4, 8 or 12 hours.

Low Standby Power Consumption

Yamaha makes its receivers eco-friendly with a low standby power consumption of 0.1W in IR Standby mode (1W in HDMI Standby Through mode, 2W in Network Standby mode).

  • newegg SCENE – A NEW LEVEL OF OPERATING EASE Four SCENE buttons make operating the receiver easier than ever. They are initially set to default settings for DVD Viewing, Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button automatically launches a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, XM Listening, TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing. Browsing and selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by changing Input via the front panel and watching the on-screen display. The settings can be selected for one-time use, or they can replace the original default settings. The SCENE names can be changed also.
  • newegg YPAO Automatic System Calibration Yamaha’s YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, etc. Until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room and you don't have to do anything!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat receiver

Pros: Looks sharp, lots of features. To be honest I have barely played around with this much, I'm pretty busy and only have it set up to do some pretty simple and basic things atm but for what I do have set, it's run beautifully. I love the passthrough and the instant changing of mode based on my tv settings. I got this thing on sale under $300 and for 7.1 I feel I got a real steal. I will eventually make some steps up in my home audio but this is a wonderful entry receiver.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Some people have complained about the menu functions but I have had no issues navigating around on this. I wish the remote had some sort of lit button feature

4 out of 5 eggsGood starter receiver

Pros: 7.1 capable

Decent amount of HDMI ports and some component/avi ports as well for older gen consoles or dvd/vhs players

Easy setup

Network receiver

Not too bulky

YPAO speaker configuration mic (makes configuring the sound super easy!)

Cons: Not sure if it is my speakers or the receiver, but every once in a while I get an audible snapping sound from the speakers almost like the snap of static shock.

There seems to be a buffer for when sound is actually played through the speakers (small but noticeable). When I first turn on my PC, part of the startup sound is chopped off because of it. I also notice it for facebook notifications as well.. shorter sounds tend to get chopped off when there is no signal going to the speakers before it happens.

Network aspect of the receiver doesn't appear to add any value to the receive in my case.

Other Thoughts: Completely happy with the purchase and would recommend Yamaha brand products to anyone looking for motorcycles, audio equipment, etc.

I hear they make pianos too! (haha)

2 out of 5 eggsHDMI Does not work right

Pros: The audio seems to work well. The system overall is nice, minimal gui, online radio is plain, but works nice.

Cons: HDMI is purple, just got it two weeks ago,and none of the HDMI ports work without producing purple color on the image. My hdmi's are fine, and the video output do the same thing on multiple equipment hocked up.

Other Thoughts: Not happy with this product so far

5 out of 5 eggsExactly What I was Looking for

Pros: Sound Quality

Cons: Not crazy about any of pre-sets

Other Thoughts: After getting this up and running, it makes me wonder what took me so long to replace my 10yr old Denon... The Yamaha is just leaps and bounds better and more modern.

4 out of 5 eggsFirst surround sound system and loving it

Pros: Being this was my first receiver I was overwhelmed at first with all the options and how to set this up. After carefully downloading and reading the manual this receiver makes an awesome addition to my living room. It has a lot of bells and whistles.

I have it paired with Item:N82E16882290066 Polk RM6750 5.1 system (from newegg too of course) and the sound is just amazing. This unit includes the microphone which allows the receiver to basically setup itself.

It has more than ample power for my 5.1 setup and the sound and clarity excellent.

Receiver can operate in transparent pass-through mode (no extra cabling required) for the times you want sound on the TV and not the receiver.

Has decent Android app available for controlling or streaming from your phone or tablet.

Cons: The on screen setup/menu mediocre at best. Non-graphical; text based and non-intuitive to a novice just starting in A/V setup. It really gives a very unpolished look and feel to a otherwise quality craftsmanship.

The remote is overwhelming and should only be used for the initial setup. Plan on using a universal remote (such as the Harmony remotes) once the heavy lifting is done.

The included manual and instructions were worthless. Make sure to go on the manufacturers website and download the actual manual before attempting the setup if your new to this kind of stuff.

Online streaming is done once again as text based, non-graphical and very unpolished looking.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am very happy with this purchase and feel I got a good price on a good mid range receiver.

4 out of 5 eggsYamaha RXV573

Pros: HDMI inputs
IPad connectivity
Discounted 50%, last year's model!
Replaced my home theater in a box rx, recycled all the speakers and sub woofer

Cons: Video feed went purple after a few days--had to resort all the HDMI cables, have to pay more for a wireless model.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is ridiculous--super saver shipping ordered on Monday morning, at my house on Wed--two days later. That is absurd! Great upgrade of my 8 yr old receiver

2 out of 5 eggsDied After 4 Months

Pros: Nice sound while it worked. Buy it cheap and take a chance. But know that while the Yamaha warranty is 2 years (a big reason I picked the brand), their customer service is unbelievably slow, uncommunicative, and not very friendly. (I'm putting this under "Pros" because they did in fact finally honor the warranty.)

Cons: Audio suddenly died after 4 months. After I got it back from the Yamaha certified shop for warranty repair (two months) the HDMI no longer worked. Yamaha customer service took 6 weeks to issue an RMA so I could send it to them. Two weeks after that they sent me a V575 replacement receiver. Hopefully this one will work longer, but I'm no longer confident in Yamaha quality or customer service.

Other Thoughts: A big reason I chose this unit was the zone B capability. But Yamaha doesn't include separate zone B volume control like other receivers I've had. The levels are set in the initial setup and after that zone B volume changes according to the main volume control for zone A. In my opinion this cheapens the whole idea of having 2 zones.
