However, when Zone 2 is on, power to the two Surround Back channels will be directed to the two speakers in Zone 2, and the Main Zone will receive 5.1 channels of power. Similarly, when CINEMA DSP 3D is on, the two Front Presence speakers will be powered and not the two Surround Back speakers. When CINEMA DSP 3D is off, this situation is reversed. Thanks to Intelligent Amp Assign, there’s no need to switch the speaker cables on the rear of the receiver—one more way Yamaha makes your life a little easier.

Pros: -Onscreen menus help with some of the more complicated setup situations
Cons: -No way to set a default "scene" that the unit will use when it is powered on. It will use the one that was last selected when the unit was turned off. Occasionally I'll start a movie on my "Music" preset and won't notice I've had the center speaker switched off until someone starts moving their lips witohut talking. (Althrough you can press a scene button on the remote/app and it will power the unit on and use that button's scene in one fell swoop it would be nice if it defaulted to the preset you use most often).
Other Thoughts: The one feautre that this unit has, that I couldn't find on any other A/V unit (less than like $9,999), is what I describe as "simultaneous multi-device, multi-room HDMI output".

Pros: Easy to use controls. Great sound. Feature rich.
Cons: I won't ding it for these mostly because it is a feature rich piece of equipment so you need to know what you're doing - but:
Other Thoughts: Provide a paper book manual. Explain all features thoroughly as even if one is rather familiar with the overall technology the proprietary implementations can be hard to understand.

Pros: Easy setup, lots of connections, great sound and network control.
Cons: None that I have found yet.
Other Thoughts: I bought this as a replacement for my Yamaha RX-V3900 and I cannot beleive how much better it sounds. It was easy to set up and configure. I have this connected to an Epson HD projector projecting on a 92" screen. I run my XBox 360, Blu-Ray player, cable box and Sage TV running through it.
