The Pioneer SP-FS52 floor standing loudspeaker was designed by internationally renowned speaker engineer, Andrew Jones. His high-end expertise and passion echo through this affordable floor-standing loudspeaker. The SP-FS52 features 3” taller design, three 5-1/4” structured surface woofers with oversized magnets, 1” high efficiency soft dome tweeter, 8-element sophisticated crossover, and 130-Watt power handling for a next-level audio experience.

  • newegg Taller design A 3-inch taller design lifts the speaker closer to ear-level for improved sound quality. Set your sights higher from the ground up for a better listening experience.
  • newegg Amazing cabinet design It’s okay to stare. With a true curved cabinet design resulting in a stiffer cabinet wall, the Pioneer SP-FS52 offers not only more eye-pleasing aesthetics but also high performance and exceptional sound quality by reducing standing sound waves inside the cabinet. Elegant, removable grills protect the speakers.
  • newegg Sophisticated crossover The crossover helps break the audio signal into low, high, and sometimes mid-range frequencies. The Pioneer SP-FS52 utilizes a sophisticated 8-element high-quality crossover (many competitors use low-cost crossover made up of a single capacitor and inductor). It’s one more way of ensuring high-quality and accurate sound reproduction for your favorite movies, music, and more.
  • newegg Structured surface woofer The 5-1/4-inch woofer has a structured surface to improve both rigidity and bass accuracy. Engineers have also vented the pole piece, again improving bass response. Three woofers with over-sized magnets deliver the kind of high performance and exceptional quality that makes for a stunning music and home theater experience.
  • newegg High efficiency soft dome tweeter Pioneer has engineered a custom wave guide to widen the sweet spot of the 1-inch high-efficiency soft dome tweeter. Increased tweeter efficiency, together with newly designed crossovers, allows the SP-FS52 to reach louder volumes using less power while maintaining great sound.

4 out of 5 eggsNice for low budget

Pros: Quality matching drivers.
A real crossover network

Cons: Still a few inches too short

Other Thoughts: This Pioneer is a pretty good speaker. Not the best but pretty good especially considering the price.
I used three for home theater with a tower on it's side for my center channel. I find most centers to be too small considering it's such an important channel in home theater.

One important thing when powering these is your receiver.
Different receivers have different sounds. I hated these with an Onkyo. Hooked these up to my Yamaha RX-V571 and had much better results. The Yamaha is much more versatile than the Onkyo.

These speakers have a decent full range sound. The mid range is very good and the bass is decent. they didn't have the high end sparkle that I happen to like but I used them for over a year and some of my friends thought they sounded pretty good.

They don't sound like Polks. I replaced a set of Polk bookies RTI 4's with these for a Larger sound and it was different. These did give me a better mid range sound than the bookies but it was different.

They are not bad speakers for the money. I would choose these anyday over tiny cubes or a home theater in a box.

Would I buy them again? Maybe...

5 out of 5 eggsCan't beat this buy for the price!

Pros: For the money, you can't beat these speakers. They have great audio reproduction in the upper frequency range for things like vocals and guitar. They look great and seem to be well constructed. For home theater, you can't beat these speakers if you are on a budget.

Cons: If I had to point out a flaw, I would say the only problem I have found with these speakers is the low end audio frequency reproduction. I would recommend adjusting the crossover of your amplifier and making sure your powered subwoofer is cut off at a frequency that will pick up some of the lost audio range.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend these speakers. 'They look great and provide great audio for the price!

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice Front Speakers

Pros: These Fronts Sound amazing

Size They are very large especially for the SP-C22 center speaker.

Just make sure you have the room and it will sound superb.

Cons: They have no cons. perform better than i could have ever imagined.

Other Thoughts: I paired these with the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR for Rears and the Pioneer SP-C22 for the center with the BIC America F-12 Sub-woofer that sits on a SubDude. The sound of these speakers are impeccable. My Receiver is a 7.2 channel Onkyo Receiver.

Waiting for the SP-BS22-LR's to go on sale again to pick up two more for rears. or for height speakers for the front..

5 out of 5 eggsThe best value in tower speakers there is.

Pros: The midrange is where they shine. A great value.

Cons: For true home theater a sub is needed. Not true audiophile speakers.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the FS52 speakers a year ago. I use them for home theater and music. They do a good job with both, though for true home theater a sub is needed. I compared them directly to the comparable Polk and Klipsch speakers before I bought them. You have to step up to B&W or Martin Logan speakers to get better detail and resolution. Their midrange is their strength and to me it was better then the comparable Polk and Klipsch speakers. Their highs are laid back and they don't have very low base, but they do a good job with the midrange(which is where the vocals are and where music "lives"). So, they have a "English speaker" sound. I think Andrew Jones intentionally designed them this way, because cheap receivers tend to be harsh and more "bright" and these speakers would balance that tendency out. I would definitely recommend the tower over the bookshelf if you have the room. I consider myself an audiophile and own Magnepan MMG's and New Acoustic Dimension components for my "reference system." I don't consider the FS52 to be true audiophile grade speakers but they were the best speakers I could find under $300. In my opinion you need to move up to the $350-$450 range to get true audiophile-grade bookshelf speakers like Monitor Audio, Paradigm, and B&W

5 out of 5 eggsAndrew Jones SP-FS52

Pros: Pack a ton of punch for the price. I was so impressed with the sound I ended up buying the full 5.1 matching set.

Cons: Might be a little big for some, and the finish isn't the most attractive.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Value & Sound

Pros: Low price
Build quality
Sound Quality-Great with Movies or Music
Design & Appearance
Rich midrange and smooth top end

Cons: Slightly soft at extreme high frequencies
Needs carpet spikes to decouple them from the room
Best when paired with a quality subwoofer

Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research before I bought these. I know it seems strange for a $200 pair of speakers but it was well worth it. Check out the reviews at CNET or even the mention they got at The Absolute Sound. Real giant killers. I must say I look forward listening them primarily with music.
