5 out of 5 eggsGreat detector but very expensive

Pros: "Learns" where you drive past false signals. Nice sounds, pleasant voice. Allows for firmware updates via USB connection.

No more false alerts every mile thanks to all the new radar-based traffic monitoring devices put up all over the highways. TSR does filter all that out, although it makes K-band response a little slower as a result.

It actually was fun driving around letting it learn all the false signals. Making driving fun again was a pleasant surprise.

Cons: Expensive. The GPS in my first one died after a day, but Escort replaced it at their expense. The new one is working perfectly.

Doesn't come pre-loaded with false signals accumulated by other users - you start with a clean slate and have to experience 3 or more false alerts before it filters them out. Would be nice if it was quieter right out of the box.

Escort is particular about honoring their warranty unless you purchase from an "authorized" reseller, and they don't have a list showing you who they are.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking at this, it's because it's because of the GPS filtering. Escort (and their sister company Beltronics) have other, less expensive, offerings without the GPS. I previously had their 8500 and this has about the same sensitivity, but the 8500 couldn't filter out the new traffic monitors. That's why I had to upgrade to something else. All those false alerts were just unbearable.

Once the pain of the expense is behind me, I'm enjoying having this device. After a few days of driving, it was to the point that it would go off once during my 40 mile trip, and that was because of police on parallel roads about ½ mile away. Oh, and when the Ohio State Highway Patrol hit me with LIDAR a few times.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best Radar I Have Ever Owned

Pros: The GPS enabled on this detector is what helps make this an awesome radar detector and the fact that it sees the cops way before they can see you. It will automatically remember JUNK signals and never show them again. So when it does go off you will know that it is real and there is a cop somewhere. I have owned many radar detectors and after hearing false signals all the time I would stop paying attention to it and boom get pulled over. After downloading all the updates and speed traps and camera location, I have not gotten one ticket. I have had this detector for over 1 year. This radar detector has saved me more times than I can remember. I take it with me no matter where or what I drive. I feel naked with out it.

Cons: The only con is that is it not free. Seriously though $500 is a small price to pay compared to the cost it is on tickets and insurance.

Other Thoughts: They have Limited Editions available now, a Race Edition a White Pearl Edition and a Gamer Edition. The Race Edition has a red display with the carbon fiber looks awesome. I am seriously thinking about getting another one for my other car, that way I don't have to keep pulling it out and moving it.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Lamborghini of radars

Pros: This radar is hands down the best radar you can buy for your sports, sedan,or exotic car. If your a risk taker and you want to unleash hell on the highway this is will give you the upper hand when driving.I've had this for exactly 1 year and ill tell you I have not gotten a ticket since and I drive 20-30 miles above the limit everyday. The Escort radar will give you a good quarter mile warning in advance of K-Band and it will also will tell you where other owners of escort passports have marked speed traps. (escort has a satellite gps signal that is connected with the "defender database" which you have to pay for after the trial expires.

Cons: If your going to spend 500$ you might as well up the ante and buy the version of this that you attach the front and rear bumper which will give you an improved detection rate.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to get the the dashboard mount. Even though you have a radar some cops will still pull you over for obstruction of view. So its best to mount your radar on the dashboard or like I said above get the version of this radar that attaches to your front and rear bumper.

5 out of 5 eggsEscort 9500ix

Pros: I have purchased many radar detectors in the past. I own the Escort 8500 and Solo cordless also. The Escort 9500ix is the best out. Living in Cleveland with all the red light cameras and speed cameras, the Escort 9500ix picks all of them out. Updates are easy to do. I even put the 9500ix, 8500 and Solo in my car at the same time and the 9500ix was the winner. It picked up the radar before the others. I also like the feature that you can program false signals out because it has GPS built in the unit.

Cons: VERY EXPENSIVE.

Other Thoughts: I never thought I would pay 500 for a radar detector but if it saves you a couple of tickets, it is worth it...
