1 out of 5 eggsBOSE® Acoustimass® 10 Series

Pros: looks Great Bose always backs their Product

Cons: My experience with Bose is ongoing 5 years to be exact and it never worked right. Even after a service that to my amazement was very fast. A turnaround of 5 days. When I got the Acoustimass Base Module back It was damaged, I chose to accept it as long as it worked and it did for 20 minutes. Then the same thing that plagued the system since I bought it happened again, rear speakers stop working. I still have it and it still doesn't work . Plus 4 very expensive receivers that I borrowed to test the Bose system, to make sure that it was the Acoustimass system and not the receivers

Other Thoughts: BOSE® Acoustimass® 10 Series Home entertainment system is not for anyone that needs help with the setup or repair. Bose techs do help and are very considerate. However it will be time consuming to the owner, even ridiculous if the system never functions properly. Bose is always ready to service any component they sell. Even if it costs you an arm or a leg.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality often misunderstood

Pros: Although I did not purchase this system through newegg, I've set it up to complete a 7.1 system with a pair of B&W Matrix series 2 speakers, powered by an Onkyo NR-807. What matters most is the end result and in my case it's flawless. BluRay concerts, movies and tv sound exceptional.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Some bad press in many places about Bose. I can honestly tell you that it's bogus. This system is matched to a pair of high end speakers and sounds great, period.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat speakers by a great company

Pros: I will confess. I dont own this current iteration of the Acoustimass system. My system only includes 3 cubes (left, right and center channels) plus the bass module. The cubes are the identical makeup of the cubes included in this set though, as is the base module. I purchased my original set of speakers all the way back in 1988. And they still sound just as crisp and clean as they did when I originally purchased them at that time. Bose has made an extremely quality product with this speaker line and there is absolutely no problems with the system 23 years after purchase. Purchased the speakers at that time for $800 and I will say, that was the absolute best investment I have ever made in stereo equipment.

Cons: The bass isnt as "thumpy" as I would like but it does vibrate the entire house when you have the appropriate music playing (or heavily sound effects laden movie). Its been a running joke in my neighborhood since I first purchased these speakers that when I watch movies, the entire neighborhood gets to enjoy it as well.

Other Thoughts: I wish there was some way to purchase the newest incarnation of the system without totally replacing my current speaker set. Possibly by the time I do decide to upgrade my theatre setup, I will take the plunge and re-purchase the newest set (this one or the 16) for the room. If you have the means to purchase these speakers, by all means, you will get probably the absolute best quality in speakers that money can buy.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't deny yourself the pleasures of sound!!!

Pros: 1. Super fast setup
2. positive and negitive cables color coded
3. and all the cables are color coded according to speaker location
4. Even a Cave Man can do it !

Cons: No cave man came over to my house to do it.

Other Thoughts: You get your bang for your buck. Sounds awesome, as I paired them with Onyko SR-TX608. One thing to keep in mind is that these speakers are rated up to 200 watts, so remember to setup your reciver to dectect and use them as "Large" speakers, and setup the sub to "80" according to the supplimental instructions that many fail to read.

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth the money

Pros: -Small in size
-Great sound quality

Cons: -Price (however you do get what you pay for)

Other Thoughts: I have had these speakers for almost 3 years now and I must say that they are simply amazing. These speakers, that aren't much bigger than my palm, have sound quality that you would expect from a speaker 25x its size. Had someone told me that they were 200W speakers I wouldn't have believe it until I saw and heard them for myself. I haven't been disappointed in them at all and neither will you. While they are more pricey than other systems you do get what you pay for.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: -Sounds decent. Not for the money, but we'll get to that in the cons.
-Small. Size is a serious issue if you're in a smaller room or if you have a wife that hates giant towers of speakers.
-Has enough power to fill a small-medium room.

Cons: -Terrible sound quality for the money. It sounds nice and warm compared to Sony and other major electronics manufacturers, but once you hear other brands such as Polk, Infinity, Energy, you'll never want a Bose system.
-Poor construction quality. Paper drivers? This system will have tears in the cones after a while. Maybe not in 5 years, but later on, they will.
-So many better options. You can literally spend half to 1/3 the money and get a better system.

Other Thoughts: If you need a compact system, take a look at Orbs. Best compact speakers that'll kill this system any day. The thing that kills this system is that it's an awful value. It sounds O.K., but it's not worth anything NEAR its cost.

1 out of 5 eggsBuy Other Sound Equipment

Pros: The cardboard they make the drivers out of is recyclable.

Cons: You'd think for $1000, you'd at least get a sound system that was full range. Bose won't release their system specs because these speakers have one of the worst frequency responses of any speaker on the market. Shoddy construction coupled with poorly designed cabinets = bad sound.

Other Thoughts: Get something else. There are many small speaker sets half the price that will outperform this garbage. Better sound through research? Yeah, more like better sales through advertising.

A quick search on any audio enthusiast site will return all of the real details on Bose. Do your own research instead of trusting Bose to do it for you.

4 out of 5 eggsGood system

Pros: Very clear, crisp and amazing sound quality. Bi-Directional speakers help if you have a larger room.

It works very well with an Onkyo receiver. Also, the speakers look good...hence good wife approval factor to put them up. :D
Overall a good system!

Cons: The acoustimass module is huge and heavy.
I am sure there are no stones in them, but it sure feels like that.

One more thing is that the wires have to go from reciever to the acoustimass module and then from the module to each speaker. This means, either you keep the module right next to your receiver or you will need to hide a lot of wires. And to all of us who hate wires this is a major con.

Other Thoughts: Since I have only size, wiring and weight as my cons, I can say this is a good buy. It does what it is supposed to do very well.

4 out of 5 eggsSweet sounds

Pros: Very high-quality overall package. Sounds amazing. Satellites are versatile. Package comes with all the cabling you'll need. Love the single ribbon-cable design from the Acoustimass module to the A/V receiver.

Cons: My only critiques are with the Acoustimass module. First, it is tremendous and not easily hidden anywhere. My previous sub fit, with room to spare, in the space behind our corner armoire. This one's so big, I can't push the armoire back to the wall any longer. Also, the placement of the connections is a bit awkward. You have to lay the massive module on its side to see what you're accessing. The only other minor thing is the amount of cabling is overly abundant for my space, leaving me with piles of ribbon cable in need of hiding. No custom cable lengths for the speakers. They're all about 25ft long.

Other Thoughts: $100 off combo deal with Yamaha RX-V465 was great, probably the only way to get a discount on any Bose product. Lightning fast shipping...too fast. I had to race home from work because I didn't want these sitting on my stoop all afternoon. Oh, and FREE shipping! The Bose box alone was 70lbs!! You guys are the greatest.
