1 out of 5 eggsTerrible value

Pros: Played all DVDs at first, Blu-Ray, 3D, 2D. Very clear picture

Cons: Played all DVDs at first, Blu-Ray, 3D, 2D. Over time it degraded and would freeze in the middle of regular DVD movies. Now, it refuses to play any DVD, claiming they are unreadable or scratched. These same DVDs play in another DVD player without any trouble. I will never buy another Samsung DVD player again.

Other Thoughts: Samsung will charge $160 to repair a $250 player -- which is absurd.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Blu-Ray Player

Pros: Great looking player with subdued lighting that doesn't overpower your entertainment system. Slot loading is really nice, and the best menu system of any player I have tried. I currently have 4 Blu-Ray players, and this is better than the top of the line Sony I bought for Christmas. I have had absolutely zero problems. Fantastic picture quality, Netflix works flawlessly.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Not sure why others are having trouble with this unit. Fortunately I got this one at Walmart because Newegg no longer sells it. Another reason why I love Samsung products.

1 out of 5 eggsKnown Netflix Issue

Pros: Looks pretty

Cons: Presumably newegg doesn't stock these currently due to this, but Netflix WILL NOT work on many of these players. Samsung claims it's a netflix software issue, and vice versa. Either way, both companies are well aware of this problem, it is a "known issue" both blame eachother, neither has a solution aside from "send it in to be evaluated"

All other apps and bluray functions work fabulously, but no netflix (and for a product with a dedicated netflix button on the remote, one would assume that it darn well should) If you're having this issue you can call around, and recieve no real answers, but your best bet is to return the pile, and get something that actually DOES work.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this not from the 'egg, but on sale near home, they're trying to pawn 'em off cheap, and now I see why.

It's ashame, I do like the combination of form/function (or at least pretense of function) all other apps work well, and it seems to have a good level of overall media-accessibility, and ease of user-interface without having to go full htpc

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

Pros: I own 2 of these and find them to be excellent in price and performance. No problems to speak of. 3D is excellent, up conversion from 2D to 3D is good for simulated 3D.

Cons: A little slow to respond.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent, but could be better

Pros: Plays back all media with stunning depth and quality. This player up-converts media such as DivX for clear and sharp images. 3D media plays flawlessly.

Cons: Cannot fast forward some high resolution videos. Touch imput at times does not respond quickly enough as I would like.

1 out of 5 eggsFail

Pros: It has a lot of features.

Cons: I got this BR player for Christmas. It worked fine up until a few days ago. It spits out all of the discs and says that it can't read them. This all started after a firmware update, so I reset it back to factory settings. It worked for one time after that and has not worked since.

Other Thoughts: I got this for Christmas and I know that it is the thought that counts, but why couldn't they have just gotten me a BR player that just plays Blu Rays. I could care less about the additional features, and I could care less about watching movies in 3D. I just want something that works when I use it.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't expect it to play 3D...

Pros: It is heavy enough to be a paper weight.

Cons: Doesn't do it's primary function (Play 3D Blu-Ray discs). I really don't care about the carpware that is on any TV or Blu-Ray player. All of that will be outdated within a year anyway... (That's what a computer is for) All I care about is will it play discs properly and the BD-D6500 will not.

Other Thoughts: Every 2 to 15 minutes it would skip back several minues and replay what you just watched. Like it was re-buffering. Some might call it skipping. It only happened when playing 3D blu-Ray discs, so I suspect some people may never notice it (until they get a 3d TV and try playing a 3D disc). Since this is supposed to be a 3D Blu-Ray player, I give it a big fat FAIL!!

5 out of 5 eggsawesome, dont know why others having problems

Pros: Wireless almost just as good as wired
netflix and hulu are great
blu rays look awesome

Cons: dust magnet

Other Thoughts: ive never had any problem with this thing dropping internet connection. at school i run a wired connection and at home i use wireless. both are great. My school is cheap and internet sucks at times, but this player loads netflix faster than anybody heres 360 and ps3. so cant complain there. also minimal buffering. blu rays look amazing. I really dont know why everybody is having such problems but i love mine. and i dont regret buying it at all

2 out of 5 eggsBD-D6500 Blu-ray Player

Pros: Very fast start up time for the main menu, love the design and button layouts, no tray dvd/blu-ray loading, latest version of Netflix, Hulu+ apps ..

Cons: wired and wireless connection issues, at time just trying to load the Smart-TV hub, NetFlix and Hulu+ times out with network error after 30-40sec of waiting, you have to try again for the app to load, then you wait another 10-15sec for connection to the given service .. at times everything seems to work well with reasonable load time.
this device does not support direct file share, so you can't share files from your PC using standard share, you have to share using DLNA service even then not all MP4 / AVI and MPG files are supported, in fact none of my Movie files plays on this device, my LG-DB670 plays all my movie files, plus just about all movie files I have downloaded, again Samsung limit its Video file support, I will be retuning this device. because of all the issues with this device I will give it 2 stars .. but 5 stars for design!

Other Thoughts: I loaded up the lasted firmware as of 8/28/2011 v01015.5
and still had the same issues mainly with netflix, Smart TV hub loading was corrected after upgrade, however netflix and Hulu+ still had issues, even the weather apps had issues, my LG-DB670 in my bedroom does not have any load time issues or network errors at all, the Samsung BD-D6500 simply has a bug in its software! as I experience the same issues when connected directly using wire connection as I do over wireless.
