Empowers You to Save Hundreds on Electric Bills

Electricity bills are rising. Now you can cut down on costs and find out what appliances are actually worth keeping plugged in. Simply connect these appliances to the Kill A Watt, and it will assess how efficient they really are. The large LCD display counts consumption by the kilowatt-hour, the same as your local utility. You can calculate your electrical expenses by the day, week, month, even an entire year. Also check the quality of your power by monitoring voltage, line frequency, and power factor. Now you will know if it is time for a new refrigerator or if that old air conditioner is still saving you money. Kill A Watt can help you reduce your power bill and will help find power-wasting appliances so you are able to decide whether it is worth keeping them plugged in. For standard 115 VAC appliances only, 15 amps maximum, 125VAC maximum.

Find Out How Much Electricity You're Using

The U.S Department of Energy reports that 20% of our electric bills come from items that are left plugged in when they are not in use, or items that are in standby mode. With the Kill A Watt P4400 we can monitor the energy eaters in our homes and cut down our electric bills at the same time. Plug whatever item you want into the device and it will tell you the efficiency of that item by displaying the kilowatt per hour. This device will help you determine which items are costing you the most to run. The Kill A Watt also calculates voltage, line frequency, current, and power factor. You can calculate your electric bill before you even receive it from the electric company.

Test The Quality of Your Home's Power

But measuring appliance consumption is just the tip of the iceberg. Because it can monitor Voltage (Volt) and line frequency it can also test if an outlet is working, or evaluate the quality of the electrical power provided by your utility company. It can detect voltage drops around the house, help to predict brownout conditions or to make sure a new home's outlets are in working condition before escrow closes.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product Wish I Bought a Few More

Pros: I wish I had bought more when NewEgg had their deal. I works as advertised. I was surprised to learn my refrigerator doesn't use as much electricity as I thought it did. I also used it to measure my microwave power consumption to determine if the magnetron was dead. Replaced the magnetron with a used one and then measured again. It was spot on at 1500W.

Cons: Would be nicer if casing was physically smaller. Would be real nice if it supported the over the powerline protocols so information could be collected and logged.

5 out of 5 eggseye opening

Pros: This meter will show you without a doubt the truth as to what your appliances cost you to run them and also ease your mind if you think you have overloaded your outlets so far as amp draw ,I now know my 3 aquariums on 2 outlets are safe and my computer draws a 110 watts when on and only 9 watts when asleep, so it now sleeps at night also

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: one handy tool to have around

5 out of 5 eggsHighly recommended

Pros: - Easy to use and understand.
- Affordable.
- Super Handy.

Cons: - None that I can think of

Other Thoughts: Bought a new UPS and was curious how long it could hold the load of my home server, wireless router & modem. Used my P3 Kill A Watt Meter/Monitor and have determined that my UPS could last over 6 hours with typical use. We have blackouts every so often and haven't ever had one last more than 2 hours.

Using the Meter I figure I could put our TV and Cable Box on it as well. giving us 4 hours of usages. (provided the UPS battery doesn't need to be replaced.)

It could help determine the requirements of a generator if you measured the power drawn from the devices you wish to keep running like a Fridge, etc..

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: 1. They work as the should
2. Shows you actual wattage/kwh

Cons: 1. Screen not backlit
2. Does not estimate cost/day/week/month

Other Thoughts: They work for my purposes and the cons aren't bad, just some features that would be nice. However, for the low price I paid instead of getting the units that have said features, I'm pleased.

2 out of 5 eggsdisapointed

Pros: easy to use

Cons: got this to measure my psu power on my pc the readings are not accurate because beased on my psu specs they dont make sense its not possable for my current psu to idle at 70w when my psu is only 84% efficient and i have a beast machine which has alot of power hungry componets so there is no way i pull only 350 at load it would be more like 450.

Other Thoughts: waste of $ to buy this non accurate load meter.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works as advertised across all settings.

Cons: Screen is just really hard to read unless you look at it from the perfect angle and have your own lighting source. Outlets and powerstrips tend to be in awkward locations (e.g. under a desk), so this quickly becomes a huge nuisance.
