1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT buy this one, it's a rip off with no reception

Pros: Not a single thing.

Cons: I only paid $75 for a portable radio because I thought the reception would be better than average. The reception is worse than your average clock radio. It takes C batteries, the LEAST common that someone is likely to have around. HUGE for a "portable" radio, no USB or SD input only aux. Big clunker with a clunker price to match and you WILL have to pay shipping in order to return it thanks to 3rd party seller.

Other Thoughts: Supersonic® SC-1082 9 Band AM/FM/SW1-7 Portable Radio has USB/SD ports, rechargeable batter/DC input, SW band and a flashlight for less than ONE THIRD the price. It only has one speaker but big deal, it's actually portable size with a handle as well. Save your money and buy this one instead of the Sangean rip off.

4 out of 5 eggsReally Nice Radio

Pros: This radio gets much better reception than most radios of it's size. The antenna has a pretty good extension length on it and I can pull in the station I wanted from my new office location within a building away from the window. It has RDS which is nice for seeing what is playing. I would classify the construction as "well built". The plastic body is thick and ridged. The labeling is thick, bold, and does not seem to scratch easily. The side rotating buttons have a nice rubberized feel and are very sturdy. There is is a headphone jack and also AUX 3.5mm plug which is very nice for plugging in an MP3 player. The sound is really nice for a small radio though turning it up can get generate a bit to much bass and be distorted, depending on the genre of music. I also found that when unplugging the power, there is some sort of rechargeable or hidden battery that keeps the time for a certain amount of time. This could also be some sort of capacitor that keeps a charge for this. I have not tested how long it retains the time, but was nice to see I won't have to rest the clock if the power flickers.

Cons: A handle would be nice if I were to use this in a more "portable" fashion. I can't imagine why a portable radio would not have a handle or some form of it.

The RDS gets garbled at times and displays some random or broken characters, which can be annoying.

While the sound is really nice, it can get reproduce a little to much bass for such a small unit. A bass adjustment or tone adjustment would be nice when listening to at high volumes. At lower volumes it sound very good.

Other Thoughts: I previous had to "MacGyver" myself an antenna on my former radio in order to get the Rock channel I liked to listen to, even when I was located next to a window. In the new location it wouldn't work so I looked for a replacement. This was it.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly Good

Pros: Excellent AM and FM sensitivity; High audio power; Good ergonomics; Good sound quality, even without tone controls; Aux input for my iPod; Quiet AC adapter that doesn't introduce noise into the receiver.

Cons: Could use a handle. 100 KHz tuning steps on FM a little bit weird. Would prefer a matte finish on the front of the cabinet to reduce fingerprints.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to replace my beloved 30-year old GE SuperRadio-I that has suddenly gone deaf on FM. Overall, and for its size, this has astounding RF performance on both AM and FM bands. Its sound quality is quite pleasing, and there's enough audio power to fill a room. Unlike some portables I've tried, using the AC adapter doesn't seem to compromise reception. I'm looking forward to DXing some of my favorite AM stations tonight.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

Pros: Very sensitive on AM & FM, great sound, small convenient package, good build quality and attractive design

Cons: No handle, a bit heavy, uses C batteries (why???)

Other Thoughts: Positives FAR outweigh shortcomings. In the last yr, I've bought the Sangean PR-D7, U3, H2O and this radio.. All are great radios, but this is by far the best for daily usage IMHO.
Can't wait for the Internet Radio capable version of this radio to hit the market...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little boombox

Pros: Small, looks great, easy to use, RDS, aux input, reception, sound quality.

Cons: Backlight cannot be set to stay on while on AC power.

Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research to find a radio that had decent enough reception for my wife while she listened to FM in the kitchen. At first I thought I wanted a Tivoli but I stumbled upon this at half the cost. With very strong digital tuning and very rich sound quality, this radio exceeds expectations. I love that it sounds much bigger than it is. It is also built well. I cranked the volume to max and there was no clipping or case rattling. The aux input is also a nice, and simple, touch. I think it's fantastic. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Radio

Pros: Well made and the tuner works beautifully. It's solid and well made. Simple with ample functionality.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I went crazy looking for a QUALITY radio that didn't force-feed you an iPad interface and found it here. Just a good old-fashioned radio with a digital tuner that does the job for me. Well worth the money in my opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat reception, great sound

Pros: Clean layout, easy to use, really great reception. Nice stereo separation, and surprisingly good sound for a portable radio. Small size is nice, too. Exactly what I was looking for.

Cons: It has a clock, but it defaults to the radio station frequency when the radio is on. Weird.

Other Thoughts: I wanted something I could haul around my yard when I'm working outside, and could plug in an MP3 or CD player. This just works. Not a big, heavy boom box, not a tinny transistor radio, but a decent, portable stereo with good sound and reception. Recommended.

I originally ordered this from a different seller, but they were SLOW, so I canceled and ordered from New Egg. Three days, and presto, it was at my door.
