5 out of 5 eggsSangean Wather Radio

Pros: Weather radio and am/fm sounds better than midland radio
CTS one touch for setting clock date and time (uses FM radio station that supports it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: When I installed this weather radio my first thoughts is how do I test it to make sure it works. Well a severe storm rolled through and the alarm went off. This is a must have for no matter where you live. I live in Florida and use it for hurricane alerts, severe storms, flooding, etc. You can program your county code into the radio and only the alarms for your area will sound. If a tornado conditions exist the siren on it will sound. Also, must TV stations refer to NOAA for their forecasts on hurricanes. No commercials on here, just straight weather talk, etc.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Radio

Pros: Sensitive receiver. Many choices for enabling or disabling emergency messages. FM receiver is also very good and pulls stations in very well. Bass and Treble adjustment. Will auto set your date and time via RDBS (If you have a station in your area with accurate time). Sound quality is very good. This is a quality Sangean Weather/AM/FM radio. Has headphone jack and I plugged in my $200 AudioTechnica 32-Ohm headphones in to it and this unit could drive them at nice levels at about 2/3rds volume. Nice quality sound.

Cons: All the external connections are on the back. If it's sitting on the windows sill like mine there may not be enough room for the plugin cables. It must sit flat desktop style due to it's angled display.

Other Thoughts: If you live far away from stations you can increase your reception drastically by wrapping a wire around the built-in telescopic antenna and then extending that in whatever direction works best for you. Try to put this unit near a window for best reception. An external antenna is available for this radio from Sangean but many report it has problems with the cable coming out of the base so beware on that. You can buy any other type of external AM/FM antenna and plug it in to the external antenna inputs (RCA and screw terminal type) if the indoor antenna is not sufficient for your location.

4 out of 5 eggsWeather Radio

Pros: Good tone, nice features.

Cons: Too many functions, just wanted weather radio.

Other Thoughts: Instructions are not really great. Had to experiment to get it to alarm the way I would expect a weather radio to work.

4 out of 5 eggsSangean Weather Radio CL-100

Pros: Read all the other reviews on this radio and it does what it says it will do. Glad we bought it

Cons: When you are going through the menu to set anything, you need to make your choice quickly. It should allow more time to set choices before reverting back.

4 out of 5 eggsVERY good customizable weather alert radio

Pros: Good quality sound, adjustable tone feature, many programming features, good design, small footprint, fairly intuitive programming of features

Cons: None that I can determine

Other Thoughts: This replaced a clock radio type weather alert radio that was a nightmare to live with. The Sangean is the best of this type radio on the market right now.. Worth the money to be able to customize alert settings, ignore test alarms, and set it up for the alerts you want to receive. Also nice to be able to disable the alarm signal and go straight to voice alert. Worth the extra money, if you can get it for $60 or less. And not bad sound either for regular radio listening...

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Product

Pros: Solid build quality, excellent functionality, seems to be very reliable so far. Good sound quality for a small portable unit. Can set it up to ignore particular alerts, and the end-of-message signal is respected - so it should only wake you up when you really want it to.

Cons: Reception of weak FM stations is not spectacular even with included external antenna. (one tiny station in my area is a particular problem for any radio, and this one can lock it in but sometimes it gets fuzzy) Would like the option to recharge NiMh batteries internally.

Other Thoughts: Read a lot of positive reviews before purchasing, and I now agree with them.
