5 out of 5 eggsGood little radio

Pros: Great audio for it's size

Cons: Touchy tuning wheel

Other Thoughts: The last reviewers complaint of distortion and bad reception must be due to a bad sample. I can turn my SR-35 all the way up with little distortion. It gets very good reception and sounds like a radio twice it's size. Check out radiojayallen's review 5 Pocket Radios Compared.

1 out of 5 eggsSANGEAN

Pros: sound but only at low volume

Cons: speaker distorts at anything over half volume
Terrible reception and tuning on both AM and FM

Other Thoughts: I tend to collect radios lately. From $10 to $300 I must have a dozen or more. Often those ten buck radios will surprise you. Well this one costs twice that but isn't worth five bucks in my opinion. It's supposed to have the best sound around for a radio in it's price range and the speaker does sound decent, UNLESS you turn it up over half volume where it completely distorts. It really sounds best at about a whisper volume level. But that's the least of this radios problems. The tuning on both the AM and FM is the worst I've ever experienced on any radio I've ever owned. It drifts and you can't seem to hardly isolate any station. I can isolate maybe 4 stations enough to enjoy listening to them at a very low volume level. On the FM dial I can only pick up two stations well and one of them seems to come in poorly and you can hear it on almost half the dial between 96 and 108 MHz until it actually tunes in.
This radio is going into the back of the drawer and only used to demonstrate wha

4 out of 5 eggsBest quality sound in a pocket radio

Pros: Speaker sound quality, FM reception, nice adjustable antenna, compact size, simplicity.

Cons: AM reception and sound is average

Other Thoughts: OK, so no one buys a "pocket radio" for great sound quality. Having said that, I own many analog pocket radios.. Kaito, Countycomm, Grundig, Degan, Sony.. All have their strong and weak points, but all have tiny speakers with less than stellar sound... It's a trade off..

This radio actually sounds pretty darn good on FM for a pocket radio. By far the best of the pocket radios I own. It's worth the extra $5 over the Sony, just for the improved sound quality. If you can get it for $17 or less, and want a pocket radio with speaker, this is good choice, especially for FM listeners. Very happy with this purchase..
