2 out of 5 eggsMaybe Not

Pros: Its plays blu-ray disks. Its easy to configure.

Cons: It keeps downgrading to 1080i, and it wont play some movies(007-Thunderball and Mr. & Mrs Smith). At 1st I couldnt play "Get Smart" but a firmware update fixed that. I understand this is a basic/entry level blu-ray player so expect the technical support from Memerox to be just that.

Other Thoughts: Maybe its something with spy movies it doesnt like!?

Pros: Easy connection. Comes with USB port which reads my 2TB FAT32 drive. HDMI and Optical audio connection were simple to connect, and videos play fine, when they play at all (See cons for details). Overall an excellent product.

Cons: 3:10 to Yuma Blu-ray disk will not play on this player. I have tried several copies from retail, Blockbuster, and Netflix, all have same issue. It will get to the menu screen, and then cannot select 'play', or navigate to special features. Apparently, there are several movies that will not play in specific make/model BD players. This one for this model player.

The remote is set up a bit odd. The transport functions, ff/rew, prev/next are clustered together and use the symbols found on every player since Cassette. Play, pause and stop are found in another location, not immediately next to the other buttons, and use words instead of the standard symbols. This causes you to search for them until you memorize their locations.

Boot time can be a bit slow, and you have to wait a minute or more for the player to complete the "loading" process before it will acknowledge you have been pressing the eject button since you turned the thing on...

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than I expected

Pros: I am extremely pleased. Not only does the player perform as expected, it offers several useful features that are not documented anywhere. To whit: it can play divx, xvid, h.264, and pretty much any standard video codec I've thrown at it. I doubt it can do flv, or maybe not the mkv containers, but it's doing the standards very well. The remote could be better designed, but has great range and responsiveness. The USB port works great.

Cons: It can't understand a usb-connected external hd formatted to macOS filesystem. I haven't tried a NTFS external, but I'd imagine the same would apply. The manual is terrible, and is clearly a low-priority translation effort. All the manual is understandable, however; it merely does not impart any interesting information about the specifications of the machine. There is also no support available yet on the memorex site. For instance, I would like to use a universal remote with this thing instead of the packaged one, but there is no documentation to assist with that. It would also be nice if there was a ethernet port. maybe the next rev.

Other Thoughts: as I have not owned this item for very long, I can clearly not speak to its reliability.
