2 out of 5 eggsIt was good while it lasted

Pros: Reasonably good speed and power at a reasonably low price

Cons: inadequate cooling

Other Thoughts: I bought this at a very good price on sale, and while I was perfectly content with the processing power and speed, it always ran hotter than previous desktops. I tested it with the cover open to make sure all fans were operational, and they were. I even checked voltages (where possible) to verify the fans were getting what they should and therefore running as fast as they should, and they were. I left it at that, and I shouldn't have, because eventually (about two months after the warranty expired, naturally), the power supply went and took the mother board with it. All indications are that this was related to overheating, and, since the fans were running as they should, I can only conclude the fans were inadequate to begin with. It's out of warranty, so I'm just out of luck there. Trying to convince Microsoft to allow me to transfer the Win7 OEM license to a new mother board is a headache I don't need. And, since the cost of a new mother board, plus the cost of a new Win7 license would be more than half what I paid for the machine in the first place, I'll simply grit my teeth, hold my tongue and replace my computer that's just over a year old... but it will be a cold day in hell before I buy another Acer product.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid pc

Pros: Easy setup, quick boot. 8 core processor, 6gb of ram. I bought this to have a pc at my parents house when I visit, and also to be a guest computer. It performs daily tasks well, and since I upgraded the video card, it can play virtually any game. It also comes with 1tb of data storage, which is always a plus.

Cons: Video card is below average at best, but none the less I replaced it with a $120 Radeon card and it plays games well.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a decent, cheap (price wise) computer for the average gamer.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: Good value for money, Good processor, Quiet and fast.
Motherboard is good.

Cons: Video card not so good, replaced it with a GT 9800 (had to replace the power supply too), Not enough RAM - put in 8 GB more.

3 out of 5 eggsNot so good

Pros: Good processor value for the dollar.

Cons: Having owned it for less than 90 days, the video card is already messing up, does not want to be recognized. The CPU fan is making dying noises.

1 out of 5 eggsBad experience

Pros: Like the top mounted USB and audio ports. USB 3.

Cons: Died on the 31st day of ownership. Probably the hard drive. Shipped to Acer repair depot following Acer shipping instructions precisely. Arrived with damage and Acer now wants another $200 to deliver to me the computer I already paid for.

1 out of 5 eggsbad implementation of windows 7

Pros: newegg: great shipping and response

Cons: windows 7 not properly implemented, media player didn't work. System crashed after sleep, recovered itself the first time the second time never recovered. e-recovery option doesn't work. Knoppix boot sees all files yet I cannot get windows recovery option to work. I have to buy a recover disk from Acer and they didn't acknowledge the windows errors. ALL I want is a windows installation disc.

Other Thoughts: My first PC was a custom built IBM XT, I've bought pc's from different manufacturers every couple of years since and this is by far the WORST manufacturer ever. The only reason I want windows is photoshop!!!

2 out of 5 eggsNot so hot

Pros: Fast. USB 3.0. Wireless capability

Cons: Poor support. Poor documentation. Not fully Windows 8 compatible. Location of USB ports inconvenient.

Other Thoughts: Support is by phone. It is highly difficult to make phone contact. No phone contact numbers are made readily available. The documentation provided does not meet the configuration shipped, and none is available on-line. No schematics are available. The front USB ports are actually on the top which makes them hard to get to when unit is installed in a cabinet. Since they are straight up, they will collect dust inside. The firmware supplied does not support all elements of Windows 8, and support has ignored my question as to when or if it will be supplied at a later date.

5 out of 5 eggsI sold five of these including to myself!

Pros: After I took off all the bloatware, it has been a great machine. Fast, smart, quiet, everything good.

How could it me discontinued? I just sold one last week!

(Yeah, I know that's what my clients say about their dead computers - 'But it worked fine yesterday!')

Cons: OUT OF STOCK.

5 out of 5 eggsGot one of the last ones

Pros: The system did a windows experience of 7.9 with the exception of the card which was a 5. It did in fact ship with the FX-8120.

Cons: Bloat ware from acer and their PDQService driver volume, when I finish up making the recovery disks and repair disk I will unhook the power to the DVD, I wish acer allowed writing the recovery system to a USB

Other Thoughts: The system is ideal as is if you intend to run allot of virtualbox and Vmware for development purposes, the ability to run two monitors will require balancing the power supply which is adequate unless you want really bleeding edge gaming. I will pull the wireless disconnect the DVD and drop another mid-level card for a second monitor, you cannot reliably build a box at this price, it is quiet as the low wattage of processor does not require advanced cooling, no I will not agree to take responsibility for overclocking the box in the ATI settings as Acer is responsible when dealing with RMA and I don't want a register set on the chip in the very off chance there was an issue. Got what I paid for and I shopped

5 out of 5 eggsStunning PC for the price

Pros: Not much is particularly 'bad' about this desktop. It runs amazingly fast, it has a ton of hard drive space, and exceptional Memory.
I bought this for 2 main purposes: to game, and to have a fast machine. This desktop does NOT disappoint. It has 6GB of Memory, and can run everything I need it too in a heartbeat.
As for the gaming side: this computer can play games such as Blacklight: Retribution on medium settings and high textures. It can play Minecraft with NO PROBLEMS, obviously, Terraria with ease, Arma 2 on low settings, Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6, Vegas 2 on high settings, and Torchlight on high settings...there is NO disappointment in that department. Setup was a breeze, just plug it in, hook up the monitor (not included) and follow the easy instructions.
The package came in PERFECT CONDITION: absolutely NO DAMAGE and all parts worked great.
The keyboard that it comes with is a little flat for my taste, but is not enough to complain about.
The little wireless module that it comes with was a nice surprise, as I didn't realize that the computer came with it and works PERFECT! It's great for going over to a friend's house and not having to use an Ethernet cable to get internet.

Cons: There really ISN'T anything wrong with this PC. It has everything that I wanted in a beginner's desktop. If there were THREE things that I would complain about, but are REALLY MINOR:
The FLAT keyboard
The lack of a VGA cord
The mouse; a little small for my hands (I bout a NidHogg gaming mouse shortly after, $15 at Half Price Books)

Other Thoughts: Overall, this desktop is simply a no-brainer for someone looking for a beginner to medium computer gamer or just someone looking for a somewhat cheap, fast, and beautiful computer.
Pros:
1) Gaming-Runs most games on medium settings, almost all games graphically demanding as Minecraft or Terraria, 100% fine
2) Fast-Has 6GB of RAM, allowing smooth and easy management
3) Graphics Card-Is a 1GB Graphics Card, better than the AMD 6650
4) Wireless-WIRELESS!
5) Pre-loaded Games-Comes with over 10 pre-loaded games, all needed to be downloaded. Some are Torchlight, Plants Vs. Zombies, and Zuma

Cons:
1) Keyboard-It's too flat
2) No VGA-Does not come with any monitor-type cords...suggest getting a HDMI-to-DVI cord, is what I'm using to run on HDTV.
3) Mouse-Too small for my hand, is slightly smaller (not by much) than normal computer mouse

5 out of 5 eggsLotta bang for the buck.

Pros: -> Runs very efficiently. Of course, having 8 cores of 2.8Ghz awesomeness, you'd kinda expect that. Very powerful core setup for the price.
-> Modern games run well. Not the most current ones that possess mind-blowing stress on the graphics card, like Planetside 2, but you can handle most of the games out within 2012 on Medium graphics, or High if you're feeling daring.
-> Combined with a big monitor, you could easily multi-task with this computer.
-> Runs really quietly. I have to wonder if it's really on or not whenever I turn my monitor out for the night.
-> The 4 usb ports and microphone/headphone slots on the top of the computer turns out to be a plus for me since my spacing requires me to store it on the ground. Very convenient.
-> This comes with a keyboard, mouse, and a wireless antenna.

Cons: -> You've got a good deal of piggyback software to exterminate when you start this up. It doesn't get in the way or slow down your computer, but I generally like that stuff out of the way. But if you're a casual-level user, you will actually find some of the startup software dandy and suitable to your needs.

Other Thoughts: With a sale price of $460 at the time, and with all of the included stuff, all I really needed to complete a budget system was a monitor. This was truly a steal for me at the time.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Computer

Pros: Havent had it for that long so can't speak for reliability. But for the time I've had, it's pretty good. It's my first Win7 PC and everything runs fast. I bought this computer strictly for office work and the software that I run is pretty demanding. And this PC doesn't run it perfect, but if I upgrade my memory to at least 8, maybe it will run the program without any hiccups.

For everyday tasks, though, there is no lag whatsoever.

First Acer computer that I bought. So far pretty impressed and satisfied

Cons: You have to have a speaker or headphone, otherwise you won't be able to hear anything from the computer

5 out of 5 eggsSeriously great deal

Pros: Great system if you're not an uber-gamer. I play World of Tanks, Navy Field and a few other games plus use this system to hold all my photos and as my primary home computer. This system will more than handle your business if you're an average dude and the graphics are still awesome on a 24in monitor despite other comments to the contrary.

Cons: really none. Works. Not loud. Good stuff.

Other Thoughts: If you have around $500 for a new computer tower - buy this one and be happy.

3 out of 5 eggsHope you don't need Acer service

Pros: Good price; runs quiet

Cons: Acer warranty support. . . or lack thereof

Other Thoughts: I purchased this unit just after Thanksgiving, and it's been just fine with one glaring exception. After burning several DVDs - pretty much just backing up everything - the DVD drive started acting up. It still reads the data, but it's very slow to do so, and now it's very noisy when running. I contacted Acer's warranty support three full business days ago, and I have yet to get a response.

I use the computer daily, but rarely use the DVD drive, and since I have a spare, external CD-ROM drive, I was hoping I could avoid sending the entire unit back into Acer. I really didn't want to be without the computer for at least a week, likely more, just to replace a defective DVD drive. Rather, I'd hoped they'd simply send out a new drive to exchange for the defective one.

What I didn't expect was to be completely ignored. A warranty isn't much good, if the company behind it can't be bothered to respond to a warranty claim. I suspect I'm just going to have to bite the bullet on this one and go buy and install a new DVD drive on my own. . . and then hope nothing else breaks while under warranty.

This is my first Acer product, and given my experience thus far, it will likely be my last. That's too bad, because, other than the easily fixed DVD drive issue, it seems like a pretty good machine so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: For what you are getting in this computer it is certainly a great value. Amd FX 8 core, ATI Graphics Card 7350 not an on board card. Would cost a lot more to build a similar machine. Expandable up to 16 gigs. Very quiet.

Cons: Thy could have given you 8 gigs of ram,. what is the deal with 6?

Other Thoughts: For the price it is a no brainier.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems

Pros: Nice Desktop

Cons: Having serious issues won't boot up as it should have to hard boot to get it to come on.

Other Thoughts: Sent it back to ACER, should have RMA'd it to Newegg. Paid for shipping back to Texas and they said they couldn't recreate the problem. I did not have any problem recreating it. The thing wouldn't fire up without a hard boot this morning.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter Than Expected

Pros: Umm, came with a stock 3.1GHz FX-8120!

I really prefer to build my own, but can't touch this for $450.

Cons: A ton of crapware to remove.
Acers documentation is useless.

Other Thoughts: I'm transcoding 2TB's worth MCE WTV DVR files over to MP4's. Have all 8 cores runing flat out for over week without taking a break. All temps are good.

Added a 2.5" Samsung SSD. The 3.5" drive bay, had mounting holes in the bottom for a 2.5" drive.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is a great computer for $450. If you want a gaming PC, buy a more expensive PC.
I can create a new DVD at 3 times faster than my old PC (core2duo 1.8 Ghz).
I play with flight sim, CFS3 and FS2004 run at over 60 frames/sec with everything at the max settings.
FSX runs at over 30 frames/sec with everything at the max settings. FSX only supports two cores only.

Cons: none - this is only an entry level PC

5 out of 5 eggsI've read good and I've read bad, but

Pros: First off, if you know what you're buying it for you don't just look at price and figure it'll do everything. With that said, it's a great computer! I purchased it to run a mill I converted to CNC and it might be a stretch, but to run both a cnc mill and cnc lathe once it is completed. At this point it runs the mill with enough processing power to play music and surf the net without tripping up the mill or the computer. I did have to add an internal parallel port to communicate with the driver board running the mill. I also added a logitech rollerball (due to carpal tunnel), a logitech wireless keyboard for convenience, and a lenovo multimedia remote with built in keyboard and roller ball as a pendant at the machine. I run the machine with Windows 7 and Linux and does fine for either. I gotta say, I'm impressed with all, so far!

Cons: I haven't owned a desktop in quite a few years, when did parallel ports quit coming as standard? lol. I understand CNC programs and laptop powersaving features don't mix well, hence purchase of a desktop.

Other Thoughts: I haven't liked AMD processors up to this point and felt sick when in one week, Newegg offered a combo deal (I would have to assembled the computer) with an Intel I5 chip in it for about the same money I bought the Acer. Since I bought a new rollerball and keyboard it would have been worth waiting, but oh well, what's done is done, plus I'm impressed so far.

3 out of 5 eggsNot for Gaming nor Home use

Pros: The price, the slick tower design, runs very quite.

Cons: Computer doesn't allow multitasking, computer must wait for one process to finish before starting another very annoying. Stick with the Intel processors if you want to do multiple things at once. Also my video card just stopped working, I'm putting in another one to see if it works, I hope is not a problem with the mother board. If it is the mother board I'm returning the computer.

Other Thoughts: I know is a cheap computer but stick to the Intel processors, specially if you are looking to play games, run virtual machines or even do some basic programming.
You been warned.

4 out of 5 eggsMeet My Requirements

Pros: I got this desktop a week ago. It meets my requirements for daily studying, web browsing, and programming. The CPU is powerful, so it's powerful enough for daily business work or studying.

Cons: The size of ram is a little small for me, I would like to upgrade it to 8gb, then it can run Android emulator smooth ly. The Graphic Card is just the very basic one. If you want to upgrade ur video card, you need to upgrade ur power supply too(to 600W). But it's actually enough for me. Windows starts takes some time, about 2-3 min(slower than my exception).

4 out of 5 eggsBusiness or not it needs more Ventilation

Pros: Basic 8 core, Mid size case, Wireless.

Cons: As said below in other review IT DOES NEED more Ventilation, at least one more fan. Basic cooling fan on Processor. The additional RAM added to the empty slot does make it more acceptable for moderate business applications. Power Supply as stated in other review should be upgraded to at least a 500 to 600 watt unit.

Other Thoughts: Don't let the 7000 series Video card fool you, this card is barely acceptable for modern business applications. It's tiny, and not what it appears to be (look at pictures).
It is a nice way to upgrade to an 8 core, but the 1st review was correct in it's statements.

5 out of 5 eggsIn response to N/A ....

Pros: Price

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Looks like a review on this model was made for a computer that was built to be an office ..... A FAST OFFICE desktop at that. Mr. N/A decided that it was to be a GAMING computer, and has UNFAIRLY rated it, swapping out components to make it a model it wasnt supposed to be. ACER makes a good computer for the money. Please buy the computer for what it was meant for and then DO NOT review ity based on what you are trying to make it .......

3 out of 5 eggsBudget option for an 8 core.

Pros: Reasonable price, Good basic hardware.
Nice looking Mid size Case.

Cons: Video card is pretty weak. You will need to update to a good graphics card to play any of the new games like BF3 or newer.
Power supply is too weak, must plan on replacing that to 600 watt.
Also plan on adding another fan for better cooling. You have one open memory slot which I installed a 4gb Cruicial Stick of Memory = 10gb ram after installation.

Other Thoughts: Good option to get into an 8 core.
But if you can't replace video card, power supply, and add a fan...it may not do what you want it to.
If your not into Gaming it would be a nice office computer.
