5 out of 5 eggsCan't beat it.

Pros: For the price point, you can't do any better. Great sound quality through my Paradigm speaker setup. More HDMI inputs than I could ever need...which is why I upgraded from my old Onkyo 800 series. Bluetooth works flawlessly with my Mac and iTunes. I don't think I'll ever need a Dolby Atmos setup, but at least I know it's there along with 4K support. Better features than the comparable Denon and lives up to its reviews.

Cons: Could use a little more power. I can max out the volume at some times. It's loud, but it could be a little more robust. My only complaint.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Receiver

Pros: Solid home receiver with lots of features and options. Built in Spotify player (not just a Bluetooth streaming feature), phone or tablet app support and a lot of cool setup and customization settings.

Cons: App support is a bit slow, and not as seamless as I hoped for.
Setting up speaker settings took some effort.

Other Thoughts: I currently have 1 month of use on this receiver after finally upgrading from an old Onkyo 6.1 receiver (that's not a typo, I had a 6.1 system). The now 10yr old receiver's features were far outdated and I wanted to have a setup that would allow me to ditch a lot of extra components (Bluetooth music receiver, media PC and all the component video out cables for HDMI). This Onkyo fit the bill and after seeing a lot of similar Sony receivers that didn't quite have what I went back to Onkyo.
The look is really nice and polished. The inputs are all well labeled and easy to understand. The large volume knob is great, and changing inputs from the front is useful. The remote is a bit cluttered, and I think they could have gone simpler but you get used to it. I think less would have been more here.
I am running a 2 speaker setup with a sub. The two speakers were easy to get going, but it took me a while digging through menus to get the sub just right. This was a bit frustrating but expected with a piece of kit with this many features. The included mic made it easy to adjust levels and the sound is awesome. Still not sure if I want to use a Bi-Amp setup but it’s nice to have the option.
The network feature was awesome and a breeze to setup (although I am using a wired setup not a wireless). I use the Spotify feature all the time, and I can change it on the fly using my phone. The App runs slow, and you have to with for menus to load, but it works. The best part is I don’t have to keep my phone on the network for it to keep working. The Onkyo’s native Spotify player streams locally. That being said, Spotify’s new Connect feature kind of makes this obsolete (provided you have a media PC nearby to run to the receiver).
All in all the variety of features, good sound quality and app support did it for me. If they could just make the remote easier to use and maybe add an DVI input I would be sold.

3 out of 5 eggsVideo Card went out around 7-8 months of use.

Pros: Sound is terrific, calibrator works great looks beautiful very strong the on-screen video guide is great the wifi works good if you're listening to Pandora it'll stop playing and lagging after a few hours of use without touching anything maybe sooner, I use it has a HDMI passthrough for PlayStation 4 and Xbox one, no problems and picture clarity even after Connecticut to TV.

Cons: After seven to eight months of ownership the video card went out. I have to pay around $50 for shipping to send my stereo away, the retail store video only can't offer me any help other than biting the bullet. Telling they'll give me a discounted price on a newer product like I'm made of money, Onkyo says I can send it to repair shop which it will be gone for about half a month & I get to pay 50 bucks for the shipping and they will replace the video card I'm still going to be with out a receiver. For a while and out $50.
