4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Good picture quality, good color, wifi, easy setup

Cons: "Magic Remote" control is a pain to use. There is no option to using scrolling like a regular remote. This also means third party smart remotes such as Harmony won't work to access the menus on this TV.

Like most new flat panel TVs the sound is not very good.

Other Thoughts: I did a double take when I saw this TV and at such a great price. I was dubious and read the info over and over looking for the catch. I was looking for some hint it was a return or refurbished. Nope. The TV is brand new from the factory from what I can tell.

I bought the TV as a 3rd TV for the bedroom, so I'm not going to add a sound bar or anything to it. That makes the sound quality disappointing, but not something that is a deal breaker.

I watch mainly old movies and tv shows on this TV and was amazed at how great the picture quality is even compared to my only two year old TV. Wifi setup was easy, though the magic remote is a royal pain with the virtual keyboard.

I'm watching for it to come on sale again so I can order another :-)

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Smart TV for the price

Pros: Very nice picture quality, even my very basic, non-HDMI cable box looks decent. A little hard to see a dark show in a bright room but its hard to blame the TV for this, its plenty bright in the evening. I turned off "Tru Motion" which by the way must be done for each individual input.

Lots of inputs which was very important to me.

This is my first Smart TV, I haven't had any problems with lag but I have a good internet connection and have the TV plugged in with an Ethernet cable, not wireless.

I have read a lot of complaints about the Magic Remote but I haven't had any problems with it. I have owned a Nintendo Wii for years so the point and click concept is familiar to me. The remote seems to have a great range, I can control the TV easily from very far off to the side of the screen. I find the curved shape of it really annoying, not sure why they couldn't just make it a normal shaped remote, but then I suppose it wouldn't be "Magic"...

Cons: You can NOT have an AV input and a Component input plugged in at the same time. This is very misleading because the description lists this as 2 separate inputs and I was counting on this to plug in all of my devices at the same time. Deducted 1/2 star for this.

The Home Menu interface is pretty good but very busy, there is a lot on there that I am not interested in using and just like phones it comes with a bunch of default apps that you can't delete. Deducted another 1/2 star for this. I do not plan to use this TV to browse the internet, why the heck would I with 2 computers and a smartphone. I do use Netflix and YouTube.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am highly satisfied and would highly recommend this TV. The biggest/most valid complaints I have read about it were about LG's customer service. Fingers crossed I will not have to deal with this, but I guess lots of electronics companies have poopy customer service nowadays.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Flat Screen

Pros: Easy set up, perfect for family room, crisp images. The WiFi is BUILT IN!!! And seems to be at 300Mbps so the Netflis and hulu apps have no trouble hooking up with full HD.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: Nice set up, I gave this to my wife for her sewing room, she loves it. We are hooking us a computer with a wireless keyboard and mouse so she can surf from her recliner, and play blu ray. Our kids have hooked up their PlayStation and it is beautiful. All in all a good investment.

4 out of 5 eggsfine TV

Pros: easy to set up
fine picture quality

Cons: funky remote - you have to get used to waveing it, rather then button-pushing.
Sound is only OK.

Other Thoughts: I don't really use the web functions, so I can't comment on these features.

4 out of 5 eggsFits the bill

Pros: The picture quality is excellent. It looks great in dark or light conditions and doesn't glare off the front of the bezel.

Sound quality is definitely fine for a large bedroom, or a moderate living area. It isn't as good as spending a couple hundred on a sound system, but it is definitely usable.

I chose this TV based off of the price and its ability to play a variety of entertainment sources (Netflix, Video files, etc.). I haven't found anything it has had trouble with, including large sized MKVs (~2-4GB).

There is a variety of software options, and the HOME smart-menu is easy to navigate. Don't worry about your girlfriend/wife calling you to start a film on Netflix, it is very user friendly.

Wireless connected immediately, but the antenna isn't as good as my 6yr-old laptop. It takes a considerable amount of time to get an update via WiFi.

Cons: Software. I could write better software. The combination of having to hold the MagicRemote on the bottom of the screen while you horizontally select icons is tricky. It is kind of a pain to open up the big HOME menu for a simple task of opening the channel list. One shouldn't have to combine multiple button presses on the remote while holding it steady on a portion of the screen to complete a task.

Hardware+Software. I can't say for sure where the problem is here, but the SMART TV system is slow. There are times when I boot the TV up and I can't start a media file for minutes, or sometimes ever - only after multiple reboots, and rarely, unplugging it. This is a major hassle as I bought the TV to handle everything seamlessly. When it works, it is awesome. But I always seem to have to troubleshoot at the worst times.

Other Thoughts: All in all, this is a good TV for the price. They do update software once every couple weeks so far, and it looks great. It is a very cost effective alternative to a Samsung Smart TV (which everyone likes). I still have faith they can iron out my Cons via software updates.

FORMAT USB DRIVES REGULARLY. If you use a USB flash drive to store and then play things on the tv, it eventually becomes slightly fragmented, and this LG does not do well with slightly fragmented drives. Spent a lot of time figuring this out and have had trouble with multiple drives.

There is an alternative remote you can buy for this TV that is not "Magic". I think its ~$15. I haven't purchased it and I'm not sure if it handles 100% of the TV's functionality.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad At All

Pros: I did a fair amount of research before pulling the trigger on this one. I've consistently owned Samsung products (incl. TVs and Blu-Ray players) for a while now, but ultimately went for this LG instead of the Samsung equivalent because the price was better and I wasn't looking for 3D.

Picture quality is excellent and is still the most important attribute of a TV. Black levels are good and color is vibrant. 42" is plenty TV for me in my living room, and was a major upgrade from my 2008 model year 32" Samsung, which is now mounted in my bedroom.

Menus are easy to use and I happen to like the magic remote despite what other reviewers said. The point-and-click is much easier than using buttons on the remote to scroll through menus and choose settings.

The apps seem fine -- I don't use anything aside from Netflix and Hulu, which are both easy to use.

Can't comment on the sound quality since my A/V receiver handles that job, but the TV's speakers have been fine when I've used the

Cons: A few others complain about the magic remote. If you don't like point-and-click menus, then you'll hate the remote.

TruMotion is a bit gimmicky. I personally find it distracting, and until LG's latest firmware update, you couldn't turn it off. It's definitely an acquired taste.

Other Thoughts: On par with Samsung and a bit cheaper. If you don't need 3D but still want a "smart" TV with apps and streaming, this is a good way to go.
