5 out of 5 eggsIncredible little machine

Pros: It all depends what you expect from this machine. If you're like me, on the unbearably hot days you park your caboose in front of a fan most of the day when you can. Go buy a $1 bag of ice, pack this sucker with ice, point it right at yourself and enjoy coolness for the whole day. Do I expect it to cool a whole room? no. considering that, it does cool my room a few degrees. I checked how much power it was using, and it's using 50 watts on high speed with cooling on. If you're expecting an AC, then don't get this.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsThis is just a fan machine...

Pros: Nothing. Its a fan machine.

Cons: This thing does not cool anything. On hot or even warm days, using the cool feature only adds humidity to your room. It wont even cool up a small room.
I bought this because my pc was like a furnace. Needed something to cool it. Youre better off with a window ac unit. Avoid this. Its also a pain changing the water every day and the smell gets to you after a while. Mediocre product.

Other Thoughts: Not expensive, but youre better off with a regular fan if thats what youre looking for.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat as a sauna, useless cooler

Pros: none worth mentioning

Cons: Doesn't cool, just adds humidity. it looks like it could work but doesn't cool. Beep is loud. if you add ice, the air smells like freezer burn - even then it doesn't cool. I bought 2 of these - can't return them - boo hoo.

Other Thoughts: In Montana it is DRY. Others who own this have the same pathetic experience. I modified one to add additional cooling surface - still useless. I am going to use it in the winter to heat the room because it works best as a sauna. I can't understand how other reviews give it a passing grade - it doesn't cool. Really - it doesn't cool at all, nada, zilch, - don't buy this.

3 out of 5 eggsTry not to move around much

Pros: Inexpensive to buy, cost next to nothing to run, quiet--good for sleeping. When conditions are right for it, better than AC

Cons: Annoying water alarm. Maximum cooling is only ~15 deg. When the temp(F)+humidty(%)>110 get an AC, this won't work here in Tucson when it's 105 even though it 5% humid. Water curtain wears out after a couple of months. Flush it out every couple of days or the salts in your water will encrust the water curtain and quickly ruin it (also creates that "smell").

Other Thoughts: BIG, BIG TIP: you can replace the curtain (kinda like a basketball tank top jersey) with a sheet of duracool for the full size coolers from your local h/w store. Will almost always get you the 15 deg drop unlike the shirt. Little tip: add some liquid laundry detergent (nonsudsy), it'll break up the surface tension allowing the water to evaporate faster thus cool better.

4 out of 5 eggsSupentown SF0608BR

Pros: You can use the unit in a room without bulky vent hose like an air conditioner would. No heat coming from back either. I like the portability on wheels. I can move from room to room as needed. This is the type of cooling system I've been looking for.

Cons: I depend on my refrigerator to produce the ice for the unit, so once the ice is gone --it's gone.

Other Thoughts: I really like it and so does my family. We like the fact that we only need to keep one room cool rather than the whole house.

4 out of 5 eggsbetter then a regular fan......not as good as A/C

Pros: it's on wheels, it has swing feature to move the air vents, its smaller then i thought it would be. its not that heavy. has a remote control. not too loud ( i can sleep with it on - 2 feet away ). you can select either just the fan ( but still filter the air ) or the cool-air feature.

Cons: well, i knew what i was buying. i havent found anything wrong with this, but if i had to say something bad... i would say the cord should be longer..? but i just use an extension cord. could be more vent choices - like a top vent? im just ranting here. filling it up with ice and water could become tiresome after a while?

Other Thoughts: these types of coolers will not work in humid locations. I live in Southern California - mid day temps are VERY hot and dry. i live in a 2 bedroom apartment but only one room has A/C. i was going to buy a standalone a/c unit for about four hundred, but figrued i would try this first for way cheaper. It does what it says - cools the air. it also adds some moisture to the dry air out here. i turned the a/c unit on, then have this going also to circulate and put some moisture in then air and cool the air where the a/c cant reach - the overall temp in my apartment is way cooler now - enough that my roommate walked in about an hour after i turned it on and was shocked on how cool it was. I would reccommend this to someone who doesnt want or cant spend four hundred on a standalone a/c unit. Just dont expect freezing A/C air, this unit sends out cool air - with moisture. search it online if you need to read more about them. evaportive coolers, swamp coolers are the two names they go by.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Fan...

Pros: It will keep you cool. Cheaper than AC. Better than a regular fan.

Cons: its big. the instructions are terrible. when you first read it, you would think that the company packed the wrong instructions with this cooler. theres this section in the manual that says: how to clean water tank and filter. the whole section only talks about the filter. nothing to do with the water tank... do i just empty it? how do i clean it? and who gives controls with no batteries. AAA batteries mind you.

4 out of 5 eggsGood as it gets!

Pros: Convieniant water/ice. filling location. Nice size. Good power.

Cons: Not as cool as I had hoped. Need LOTS of ice, and will only cool slightly for about 2.5 hrs.

Other Thoughts: Better then nothing, but not much.
