4 out of 5 eggsToo Tight

Pros: Price, good buy

Cons: Portafilter is too tight, I had to use my mortar to try to put it to the correct place, I still couldn't.

Other Thoughts: It worked though, good result, but I just cant be exerting too much effort and break my shoulder. maybe, its one of the defective ones. Im returning today and will continue using my old expresso machine.

5 out of 5 eggsEspresso? Impresso!

Pros: I found the DeLonghi EC155 easy to learn and use. I bought it on sale, and have been using it daily, for almost a year. It heats up fast, and makes a double espresso in about 30 seconds. The temperature is just right when dispensed into a ceramic espresso cup from Pier 1 Imports.

This is the perfect unit for the beginner or value minded espresso connoisseur. It comes with both a single and a double coffee brewing cup.

Cons: Not really easy to clean, but luckily, there's not much to clean. Difficult to remove water inside unit (except for removable reservoir) when storing unit for a long time.

Other Thoughts: I was happy that the brew cup was easily disassemblable for weekly cleaning. I don't usually use the frother, but it works OK after you drain the first few drops of condensate.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: The beginner's espresso maker. It does everything you would like it to do to make your best version of that latte, cappuccino, or mocha you had at your local starbucks or coffeeshops. As a starter, its a great unit to be able to foam milk for your latte, create a single or double shot, and has the ability to just provide hot water for your cup of tea. It has a short learning curve and the instructions are simple. It's a relatively affordable machine (I got it for under 60$, with an additional 20$ MIR). I've prepared more than 50 lattes at this point for myself and friends, all with rave reviews. I'd highly recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for an affordable espresso maker as they become their own cafe barista. In less than 10 minutes you have your cafe style drink.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: For those of you struggling to foam the milk perfectly, it does take 2-3 steam uses to properly foam and heat the milk. Always make sure to properly clean the unit after use and I preferably use filtered water over sink water to prevent long term mineralization of residual water in the espresso maker.

5 out of 5 eggsFast Frother!

Pros: Pretty, small, efficient, fast

Cons: Hmm... nothing... but it could have come with a milk pitcher and two small coffee cups. :)

Other Thoughts: It completely frothed the milk in less than a minute!

3 out of 5 eggsEC155

Pros: Small device.
Heats water fast.
Creates good amount of steam. Would create a good froth I think.
Generates good pressure.

Cons: Only two shots at a time.

Very low clearance between outlet and base. Only shot glasses can fit in (unless you remove the base, then you have more room).

The filter holder takes a ridiculous amount of force to put in place. Seriously, I need two hands and a foot for leverage, in order to lock it in place! Will be returning mainly for this reason.

Other Thoughts: Bought this given the huge number of positive reviews. My experience was not good (mainly for the filter holder issue). Feel let down a bit. Might have had too high expectations.

5 out of 5 eggsI don't go to starbucks at all anymore

Pros: I make my coffee at home now.

Cons: not enough room for larger cups
steam valve a bit too short
kinda noisy

Other Thoughts: I recently started drinking americano mistos from starbucks and that prompted me to purchase this machine. I've had it for a little over a month now and I really enjoy it. I really have no idea what I'm doing but I like the taste of what I make. I cut the front of the drip tray out so I can slide a regular coffee cup in and now it works great. I'm glad I bought this for 95 plus tax with free shipping. Now it says it's unavailable.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat machine

Pros: - good crema
- great tasting espressos
- simple and easy to use
- non-intrusive design
- feels sturdy

Cons: - a little too loud for my liking
- cheap tamper

Other Thoughts: Although I've only had my particular machine for a few days I've used this Delonghi model extensively at a friend's home. I got it because I knew what I was getting before I bought it. I think it makes the best tasking espressos out of the lower end domestic use machines. I don't drink coffee with frothed milk so I don't really know if the steam wand works well or not. I do recommend buying a good quality tamper to go with it because the one it comes with is too small and awkward to use since you have to press up into it. I think it doesn't get better for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Machine for the Price

Pros: This is a great machine for the money. If you use properly ground beans, it will create espresso that is better than most of the standard coffee shops. It's small so it doesn't have a big footprint in the kitchen.

Cons: It's small, so you really can only fit espresso cups under it.

Other Thoughts: You have to periodically clean the machine. I have twice watched my espresso maker die a slow death until it would not pull a shot at all. After running a couple of cycles of "dezcal" through it, it's running like a champ again. Overall a good piece of equipment for a small investment. One day I will replace this one with something nicer, once it finally breaks. But this will serve very well for the casual espresso drinker who needs and cost effective introduction to home espresso.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This is a winner for DeLonghi and also suggested by other well documented espresso groups. It s rated just below the Gaggia classic and that is saying alot especially for the low low price Newegg sells it for. Makes excellent E.S.E espresso from Starbucks. The pods cost very little and the quality is great in this machine.

Cons: None so far. It is a great machine.

Other Thoughts: I'll write another article on the DeLonghi in a few months to see if the espresso maker still holds up.

3 out of 5 eggsGet what you pay for...

Pros: One of the cheapest pump driven makers. Frothing wand works pretty good once you master it's use.

Cons: Somewhat weak espresso. Durability? A bit on the noisy side, but not too bad.

Other Thoughts: After 5 years of using cheaper steam espresso makers my wife bought me this model for my birthday - a huge improvement over steam! After 13 months - 1 month out of warranty - the heating block gave out. I was so used to how this machine works, and was low on $$$, so I bought another exactly like it. This second one is 15 months old and so far doing well. I am almost hoping this one dies as I want to try a fancier machine, but can't bring myself to throw it out! While owning this machine I have started buying "green" coffee beans and roasting them at home - the best way to get the best espresso - now I need that higher end machine!
