5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooker

Pros: Works perfect every time for both boxed and stock rice... I hate cooking rice and trying to get it right in the pan and the mess with overflow in the microwave. This little thing is very pretty and works fantastic.

Cons: No off button... You have to unplug it to turn it off... Which is strange.

3 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: It looks really nice with the stainless steel body and compact shape.

Cons: Makes a huge mess with sputtering water everywhere. The steamer tray cuts the mess down but still it's a major hassle to clean up the lid and the area around it every time you cook rice.

The non stick surface has begun to chip away.

Rice gets burned in on the bottom and doesn't hold very well for long periods as it turns dry.

5 out of 5 eggswonderful rice cooker and best-looking on the market

Pros: Cooks rice in a timely manner, has automatic switch to "warming," has a veggie/fish steamer, has a non-stock lift-out pot, has built-in cord storage (with auto retraction), is gorgeous brushed chrome, has a very appealing rounded square appearance, comes with a lot of good recipes and specific instructions for dozens of types of rice. Very sturdy (not worried about the switch), and it is Cuisinart, one of the most trusted brands in kitchens ever. It's one of my favorite things.

Cons: My only con goes along with the plus above of brushed chrome, if you have any in your house you understand that it shows every splotch or fingerprint and it becomes a daily kitchen obsession to wipe down every appliance with your clorox spray/wipes and then your brushed chrome cleaner (so that you don't get streaks)... Unnecessary obsession, yes, but once it's all clean and pretty, it's REALLY clean and pretty. But you could let it get dirty and still feel better about the longevity of a chrome appliance compared to a plastic one, so this is really a nitpick.

Other Thoughts: Just keep in mind that with any rice cooker it'll take a few batches with any new type of rice to really get in the swing of things, rinse well, and don't be afraid to use the veggie steamer, it is an amazing timesaver!

4 out of 5 eggsCooks well enough; splatters

Pros: It usually cooks rice pretty well, but you may have to read the manual and/or experiment when using something other than standard white, long grain rice. Its cubical shape and compact size make it easy to store without wasting too much space. The self-retracting cord is a little short, but is a nice feature nonetheless.

Cons: While cooking, steam condensates on the glass lid, and then trickles down onto the rim of the bowl and accumulates there (with rice "goo"). The escaping steam causes splatting, which makes a mess of the rice cooker itself and anything around it. Using the vegetable steamer accessory (even if it's empty) helps reduce the splatter.

Other Thoughts: The switch sticks out, and I'm worried that it will eventually get broken when I accidentally hit it on something when taking the cooker in or out of storage.
