5 out of 5 eggsSuspicions Confirmed

Pros: I was right. The Honeywell HHT011 and the Honeywell 16200 are the exact same machines at different prices. The difference is removable vs permanent filters and some slight cosmetic differences in the chassis. If you check, the filters ARE the exact same size and are interchangeable. The vacuumable filter has a flat intake side so it is easier to vacuum. Other than that they are the same. Filters are about $18 at Home Depot.

The prefilter is the same foam they use on air conditioners and it washes well. Older versions of lhis stuff used to shred from one washing with detergent but this stuff seems to be appropriately durable.

After a month the pre filter had about 1/4 inch thick coat of dust on it. I wiped off the bulk, rinsed the filter from the inner side so the dirt would be washed out rather than in, and washed the filter with laundry detergent, which was what I had at hand.

Cons: These machines really are a bit overpriced for a simple filter with a fan. Esp as they are not going to last forever. The blower fans are not perfectly balanced. The machines vibrate a tiny amount because of this. No noise and the vibration is not bothersome, but, they will not last forever. Again, this thing is a pretty cheap solution to a simple problem.

Other Thoughts: The HEPA filter was dark from dirt but I decided that vacuuming could wait another 1-4 weeks. The pre filter does not seal perfectly so the HEPA filter is probably dirtier than it should be, but again, this thing is a pretty cheap solution to a simple problem

It does clean the air. Dust is a complex problem. I find bedrooms to be dusty by their nature. Lots of fabrics being heavily used. Also, I keep a window open almost all the time. That's why I'm looking for a cheap solution to a moderately vexing problem.

This seems to be the intersection of the cost benefit curve.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat's Wrong With This Picture????

Pros: First, I'm very happy with this product. If you live in Chernobyl or Fukushima this unit may be a bit less than you need. If you just want to keep the dust away from the bedroom computers, it's fine.

Cons: Has no one but me noticed that the Honeywell HHT011 and the Honeywell 16200 are the exact same machines at different prices, the difference being removable vs permanent filters. If you check, the filters seem to be the exact same size. They recommend vacuuming the permanent filter. I've bought the one with the permanent filter. I'm going to buy one of the replacement filters and if it does fit, I'm going to try vacuuming it also. Marketing. That's the name of the game.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for allergy sufferers

Pros: Low price for the amount of area the unit is advertised to cover
Filters are cheaper than most other units

Cons: Loud fan, even on low setting

Other Thoughts: After reading a lot of reviews for these types of products it really seems to be a hit or miss with people as to weather this really helps in their household. This could be because of it being used in too large of a room or possibly even the location in the room. It also could be that the unit is advertised to perform at its best with the fan set to its highest setting at all times. Unfortunately the fan is far too loud at the highest setting to be considered tolerable for most people.

Be that as it may, this unit has performed wonderfully in my small bedroom. Like a lot of other people who have purchased these, i also suffer from allergies from dust, pollen, pet dander and the such. Leaving the fan on the highest setting while I'm at work and then lowering it down when i get home seems to be sufficient and has noticeably cut down on the amount of dust that would normally collect on my desk.

5 out of 5 eggsNoticibly cleaner air in 11*13 room

Pros: Got it on sale for $35 with free shipping, w00t w00t newegg. I wake up with far fewer boogers, dry throat etc and that's what I was looking for. It has 3 effective filters, washable pre-filter, the HEPA filter and then the Ionizer. I only run the Ionizer like every other day or so, because I have a PC in my room and I was told that it could dry up the air even further and induce Electro Static Discharge.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Haven't really had it long enough to notice less dust, but the house I am currently living in will definitely make that difficult even for the really expensive ones.

3 out of 5 eggsMore noise than purifying

Pros: Gives some peace of mind. Makes me feel better that I actually tried to make the air in our home cleaner.

Cons: 1/ Noisy: Even at the lowest level the sound of the fans is very high, and the highest setting is only used when we go oiut
2/ Ionizer: Doesn't make a noticeable difference other than the green light turning on
3/ Price

Other Thoughts: You can't really measure to see whether or not it's working. I'm sure something in the air is getting trapped in the filter. More than anything I think it is a placebo that makes us feel better. Wouldn't recommend it.

4 out of 5 eggsHelps clean up any room.

Pros: -Good air flow, pulls in air and pushes it out very efficiently.
-Ionizer feature, didn't actually know it had this when I ordered it.
-Not too pricy.

Cons: -Only thing I can say is that it's a bit loud, being a light sleeper I can't sleep with it on its highest setting, but it may just be me.

Other Thoughts: -Can definitely tell it's working as a lot of the dust in my room has thinned out and I can see it in the washable filter on the front. Great for allergy sufferers such as myself and people with dusty rooms, also myself. Thanks newegg.
