Keep the air in your room clean with Honeywell’s HHT-081 air purifier. It has a HEPA filter that removes up to 99% of airborne particles such as dust, pollen, smoke and pet dander. The air passes through a pre-filter to eliminate the large particles so the HEPA filters can work their best. Before being sent back into the room the air is passed through an ionization field to do a final cleaning.

The filters are washable and there is an electronic sensor to tell you when they need it. Since the filters are washable and permanent there is no additional cost, to using the purifier. The purifier is designed to keep a 169 square foot room clean.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as it should

Pros: Does what it is supposed to do. The noise it makes is a very smooth white noise ( half the reason I bought it).

Cons: No cons for me

3 out of 5 eggsMisleading

Pros: Low power consuming, should've bought one instead of a fan for my new townhouse for upstair bedroom. very quiet on low setting.

Arrived under 2 days from newegg.

Cons: I still do not get why it is labeled as permanent filter, especially when you read detail page on newegg it says no additional cost for maintainance, but right on the box "replace filters(2) every 6 months"

Also, newegg never box any household items(4 out 4 times), they just slap the shipping label on orginal box. I was scared it might be broken already as the air purifier only has 3 seperate pieces of cardboards to secure it in place.

No manuel? I guess the 3 different fan setting, plus a button for ionizer, pokes around find where to open the filter and de-wrapped them. I hope the one I got is new but not used.

Other Thoughts: Very loud on high, like a vaccum, sort of expected it.

1 out of 5 eggsDied in 4 hours

Pros: None

Cons: Garbage. It has a very loud high buzzing noise when turned on and a weird smell when the ionizing is on. Turned it on, went to work, came back, it was dead.

Other Thoughts: This thing costed me $40 in shipping and restocking fee. Garbage.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: So far, this has been great!! Really amazing filtration. My allergies have been killing me, especially as our living room has far too many animals. This has done a spectacular job at removing the dust in air and I can absolutely breath easier.

Cons: On the lowest setting it is fine, basically silent. But when you crank it up, it is VERY loud. Too loud to have w/ the TV on normal level. Also, not automatic, the next model up is automatic and totally awesome! Should have gotten that.

Other Thoughts: The ionizer really electrifies the air haha. Lots of shocks when touching stuff and other people. Definitely not using it since there are computers in my house :)

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: helps filter air in my small bedroom. I usually need a constant fan noise to sleep and having this run on medium does perfectly. Low setting would be too quiet.

Cons: no oscilator but it does pivot on the stand.

Other Thoughts: I use my computer in my room and normally have on earphones. The device is maybe like 6 feet away from me but faces in a different direction. if I have the ionizer on I start to get a static charge built up and can zap through the earphones. so just beware. I keep the ionizer turned off.

5 out of 5 eggsAppears to do the job

Pros: Quiet (except on high), good air flow, no filters to buy!! Power usage is not a lot, much better then my Hunter (45 W to 85 W on low)!

Cons: Should of not even put the ionizer on this thing, THEY are not healthy! Would like to dis-able it so it CAN'T be turned on by accident!

Other Thoughts: High IS noisy, BUT any fan moving that kind of air will be noisy, so not really a Con. When my Hunter needs a filter this next time, will replace it with another Honeywell. Replacing $70 filters every 8 months got old! Should of replaced it long ago!

3 out of 5 eggsNot great.

Pros: -Low power consumption on all settings
-Moves a lot of air
-Very easy to clean
-Quiet on the lowest setting
-Optional ionizer
-Thin, elegant profile
-Can double as a fan...

Basically it delivers on most of what is advertised. However:

Cons: Although this fan moves a lot of air, a lot of what it does is recycling air in its immediate area. It doesn't seem to draw air from anywhere else in the room to itself very well, so I still see dust particles floating randomly around about 5 feet away, even on the highest setting.

After dusting my small room and keeping this on for about a week or two, a noticeable layer of dust accumulated on surfaces again.

The plastic case of the purifier gets dust particles stuck on the grills very easily.

Overall, no or very minor improvement in air quality.

Other Thoughts: With the dust it does remove, it seems that the prefilter is doing most of the work. I opened it up after 5 months of constant use and the prefilter was filthy but the permanent HEPA type filter was prestine.

I do some light sanding work in my room since I live in an apartment, so I got this to keep the tiny sand particles out of my lungs. In this respect it did its job very well. However, I had also hoped it would take out some of the dust in the room to reduce dust bunnies in my computer area, which it didn't excel at.

I got it on sale for about eighty dollars shipped, but I still think it wasn't worth it. My advice, if you care enough about your air to get a purifier, then spring a little extra for a good one. I'm going with a Honeywell True HEPA purifier next.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: I like the Tower design, it makes it easy to place anywhere, and move around the house. Cleaning the filters is easy, and I like that I don't have to replace them. This moves a LOT of air and it will serve a dual-purpose during warm months as a fan.

Cons: It did not totally solve my dust problem, but it does seem to help.

Other Thoughts: If you have serious allergies, this may not be the best solution, but if you just want cleaner fresher air it's not a bad choice.

3 out of 5 eggs(Initial Review) Decent filter for the money

Pros: -Reasonable size, lightweight
-Straighforward, easily accessible controls
-Moves a large volume of air on any setting
-Replacement filters are reasonably priced (~$13/ea)
-Both my fiancee and I have noticed an improvement in air quality in the bedroom where this is used

Cons: -Too loud for sleeping on High (a given for most)
-Sound character on Med or High is not very "broadband" and may be irritating to some
-All-plastic construction feels somewhat cheap for $100
-Air exits the front of the unit at an angle, approx. 30 degrees to the right (if looking from rear)
-Power cord could stand to be longer
-As expected, does not filter most odors or VOCs (rated down to ~5 microns, which is HUGE compared to many airborne contaminants)
-Newegg shipped the item in its own packaging and did not even tape the box closed, so anyone along the UPS route could have opened the box and damaged/tampered with/stolen the contents. Fortunately there was (barely) adequate styrofoam protecting the top and bottom of the unit inside, and the box was, to the best of my knowledge, not opened.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this filter from Newegg under the impression it was the type that utilizes electrically charged metal plates (IFD in Honeywell speak). The description of this filter is extremely similar to the IFD purifiers in that it states the filter is "permanent" and needs only occasional cleaning. I was disappointed when I first opened the packaging to find it uses two pleated paper filters, very much like what is used in most cars/trucks. That aside, I'm reasonably happy with it and will likely continue using it as a secondary unit even if another better one is purchased in the future. The upside to the filters used in this unit is that they are widely available from Newegg and other retailers that sell Honeywell purifiers. Note I refer to this unit often as a "filter" and not a "purifier" because a true purifier eliminates airborne contaminants MUCH smaller than those trapped by this unit. Truly harmful contaminants can be as small as 0.1 micron!

4 out of 5 eggsSeems to do the job

Pros: Filters a lot of dust out of my room. Gives me peace of mind that it's filtering out mold spores and pollen. Setup was easy.

Cons: I only run it on the lowest setting since it is very loud on the medium and high speeds. The manual says to keep it 3 feet from any walls or furniture, but it can only cover 169 sq. feet. My dorm room is about that size and I can't find a single place to put it without having it sit in the middle of my room.

Other Thoughts: I honestly don't notice much of a difference, but I don't have any seasonal allergies either. I bought this because there was mold forming in my room and I wanted a temporary fix before the mold could be removed.
