Poorly engineered door latch
This review is from: Panasonic NN-SE782S 1.6 cu. ft. Genius Prestige Countertop Built-in Microwave Oven with Inverter Technology
Pros: Cooks great.
Cons: Door release broke after 5 months use.
Other Thoughts: After much research I bought this microwave oven to be used as a built-in in our new kitchen. We spent almost as much as the oven cost for the trim kit, so we have over $400 in this. It cooks fine. After 5 months use the door stopped opening. I have to keep a screwdriver on my countertop and use it to pry open the door after pushing the open button. Our $18000 cabinetry was specifically built around this size oven and we had to use 4 wood screws on the face of the cabinet to mount the trim kit so now I have a big problem in replacing this with a different brand. If I want get it fixed I have to drive 94 miles round trip, once to take it in and once to pick up. And I have no doubt they will put the same poorly engineered parts in that it uses now. I am so angry at Panasonic that I am done with buying their products. And I have a Panasonic 60" plasma and Blu-ray player and digital camera, so I liked their products. I had a Sharp microwave that was less than $70 new that I finally gave away after 12 years that never had a problem. I have a Galaxy microwave from Sears that is about 10 years old. I use it now instead of the worthless Panasonic because it has never had a problem. This is the first one star review I have ever written so I am not a chronic complainer.
