2 out of 5 eggsThe little vacuum that doesn't

Pros: It has good suction...and that's the 2nd star, and customer service people speak english

Cons: Since day one this vacuum has had no power. I don't vacuum but my wife does so I never really paid attention. One day i noticed that every time she pull the vacuum back (as in a motion toward her) I would hear it stop rotating. I asked her if it had always done that and she confirmed. Now we have hard wood floors with a couple of rugs scattered about, all bur-bur. Nothing really thick- I could see it being an issue if we had 3 inch shag but that's not the case. So I contacted Shark. They were very nice and willing to help and sent a new head. A week later I received the replacement which took literally 2 minutes to change. Fired it up and ... same issue. So called Shark back up, I was told I had three options now. 1) send it off, wait 4-5 weeks to get it back 2) They'll send the same part to me again 3) I could buy another one from them (discounted of course) and have spare parts. I chose option 2 even though I had no faith that it would fix it. I mean what's the odds in getting 2 bad heads, in exactly the same way. It doesn't happen. Option 1 wasn't going to happen (wife told me that). Option 3 wasn't going to happen either...nobody had to tell me that! I wasn't going to spend more money on a vacuum that might or might not work. So, point? - maybe spend a little bit more money on a vacuum, get a Dyson? I don't know

5 out of 5 eggsVery Impressed

Pros: • Suction
• Lightweight
• Easy to Maneuver
• Switch to turn on/off rollers is up high
• Warning light if something sucks up wrong

Cons: • Max Fill is small, so you have to empty more often.
• Unable to vacuum under things sufficiently as the intake port tips up when leaning the vacuum back
• Due to the size of the base/waste canister, the foot or intake portion of the vacuum doesn’t protrude far enough or have enough depth, so when cleaning under the edges of kitchen cabinets, the canister hits the cabinetry.

Other Thoughts: My wife and I bought this for Christmas to replace an old Eureka "The Boss" which we had for years, which was heavy and difficult to maneuver. It originally had fairly decent suction, but was on its last leg it seemed after 6 or so years.

Our first impression when we pulled the Shark out of the box was skepticism based on the weight and size of the vacuuming width, which was probably 3-4 inches smaller than the Eureka.

We first vacuumed a couple rooms with the Eureka and then vacuumed back over it with the Shark and were amazed at how much dog hair and dirt the Eureka left behind. (We have 2 beagles that shed quite a bit) We knew the Eureka wasn’t cutting it anymore as after vacuuming with it, our kids could play on the carpet and end of with dog hair on their cloths. It’s wonderful to no longer have that experience due to the Shark and the suction on this design is outstanding to say the least.

One of the negative reviews said the Shark was very heavy… Unfortunately we havn’t had the luxury of owning feather weight vacuums that the reviewer is used to, but for us this thing is a life saver. My wife has had back problems in the past and we own a 3000 sq. foot house, so she would dread vacuuming with the Eureka and felt like she would have to break up vacuuming into multiple session, with her back killing her. The weight difference with the Shark doesn’t affect her back at all.

There could be some design changes we feel would be beneficial. The foot or suction portion of the vacuum is kind of small and it would be beneficial if there was more depth for vacuuming under edges. Also it would be nicer if it could lean back more without the suction portion popping up, when vacuuming under end tables, etc. However, we don’t feel it’s enough to take away a full egg in the review. If I could, we’d give it a 4.5/5 eggs.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Hose Design Ever

Pros: It does have good suction and vacuum well.

Cons: Very poor hose design. Hose is coiled very tightly and will pinch your fingers quickly. You cannot use all 12' of hose. Anti-tip hook does not work. The hose constantly pops out and falls over. I have bruises on my back and hips from it falling over on me. It has also fallen over and dented furniture.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this model to anyone who wants to use the hose portion. I bought this model because it boasts a 12' hose. The anti-tip hook uses most of that so you can really use a few feet. The wheels on mine starting squeaking badly after a week. I am not happy with this at all.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Sucks Bigtime!

Pros: Awesome suction
Still works just as good after 18 months
Pretty easy to clean and replace filters
Actually gets up cat hair!!!!!
7 Year Warranty (Make Sure You Register It on their website!)

Cons: My cat still doesn't like/trust it
Again, the only con I can think of is that it works so good that it fills up the kind of small dirt compartment pretty fast. Not really a big deal.
I noticed in some reviews people complained that it only has an 11in. base, works fine for me, it fits perfectly under and in between some small places like the feet of my stools which are 12in. apart.

Other Thoughts: Update review here.
Had it for over a year and a half now and it's still awesome. I clean the filters once or twice around every 4 - 6 months, then I replace them with new ones from Filter Kit part# XF22.
It still totally gets my cats, and wife's, hair. I recently shampooed my carpets and that was what proved to me that it still gets up my cat's hair. With my old vacuum there would be massive clumps of cat hair every few feet while shampooing, With this vacuum there hardly any cat hair noticed while shampooing the carpets.

5 out of 5 eggsVery please customer

Pros: Powerful suction

Deeper cleaning than my previous vacuums

Cons: Narrow path

Bulky and a little heavy

Other Thoughts: Before I used this for the first time I went over my living room with my old vacuum. It was a Bissell and although there was nothing wrong with it I get in moods to upgrade every now and then. I never had a problem with it and thought it was getting things done and I wanted to see what it left behind if anything.

After a good sucking of my living room I used the Shark normally and was astounded on how much dirt I wasn't picking up. I did my whole house that day and emptied the canister a few times. I had been leaving so much behind and it is disgusting.

I am hooked on Sharks, now! Excellent for a smaller apartment but a little annoying for a bigger home (2000+sqf) but worth the extra time.

4 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: This vacuum does very well, i have a dog that sheds and most vacuums will not pick up the dog hair. This one worked well and is just as good as the $600 vacuums out there.

Cons: The attachments do not stay on the vacuum. When i want to vacuum the coach it gets a little awkward.

Other Thoughts: Great vacuum when you have a dog with bad hair issues and dont want to spend $600.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Vacuum

Pros: This vacuum has handled everything I've thrown at it and hasn't broken a sweat. From laminate floor to thick pile carpet to microfiber couches - it's been perfect. Very mobile and lightweight, easy to toss around the house in an afternoon and furious cleaning.

Cons: If anything, it could have come with a pole extension for the hose to reach higher places, but that's not something everyone would use, so it's understandable.

Other Thoughts: This is a fine example of why you don't need to spend an arm and leg to get a fine vacuum that "never loses suction." In over a year I've punished this thing time and time again and it's never lost suction - so what are people paying hundreds of dollars more for? Oh, right, marketing. The Navigator has done everything asked of it and I've had zero problems with it. Great, versatile cleaning tool.

5 out of 5 eggs3rd month review

Pros: light, maneuverability, you can take it apart to use the hose to reach up into the curtains or where ever. The brush has an on off switch.. great for when you want to take it outside and touch up your car real quick, also for getting into stairs with rugs. "Semi-completely" sealed... HEPA filter. Powerful suction even when canister is all most filled. Attachments for getting into tight places are awesome

Cons: as mentioned above.. semi-completely sealed... nothing is perfect. The collection canister is a little hard to clean thoroughly... everything gets picked up.. even the tiniest particles. those particles get stuck to the wall of the canister. The collection canister opens on both ends... which is convenient... but there is also a chance to make a really big mess.

A good cleaning with a reusable canister has its draw backs.

Other Thoughts: I thought that this model was not going to be enough for my minor needs. I came to find out its way more than I need.... and I only have a small rug in the living room.. and 2 regular sized bed rooms.
