4 out of 5 eggsDOA but ok service from T-Fal

Pros: Toasts very evenly, plenty of room for wide specialty breads, bagel mode works great

Cons: I got this toaster for Christmas but on arrival none of the buttons worked. It would still make toast but only on setting 1 and I couldn't use any of the other features. I contacted T-Fal to see if I could avoid paying for shipping back to newegg and T-Fal sent me a return shipping label. 3 weeks later I have a new toaster that so far is working great!

Toast darkness setting goes from 1 to 8 but starting at setting 4 your toast is burnt black. Not sure what the higher settings are for, charcoal?

Other Thoughts: I've only had my working model for a few days so hopefully it lasts! There really aren't many options out there for the wide bread that I buy from my local bakery so hopefully it works well for many years to come.

1 out of 5 eggsT-Fal Toaster junk

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: Unable to deliver on simple promise of making toast. OK, I read the reviews and realize that sometimes a lemon will get through. However, I went through 3 of these toasters (2 from Newegg and 1 from Freys), none of them lasted beyond one slice of bread. At $50 the cost of sending it back to Newegg twice was like burning $30 for nothing. Much to Newegg's credit, I was pleased with the replacement and refund, but I was not pleased that T-Fal could not make a toaster that works. The 1st unit, the coils burnt out and only the top two heater bands worked. On the 2nd unit, uneven heating where one side is nice and golden brown and the other side of the slice was a dried out white. This is the same thing that happened with the one I bought from Frey's. I can understand on bad toaster, but 3? That is a brand or model to stay away from.

Other Thoughts: T-Fal should have a Quality program in place to catch these defective units. Or change their name to T-Fail.

I would give it a "0" egg rating if I could.

5 out of 5 eggsStill working

Pros: Nice design, color.
Takes thick and wide bread.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Can't complain, it is still working after 3 1/2 years. It was hard to find a decent toaster that did wide bread, this was the one I ended up getting and it was a good choice.

1 out of 5 eggsTruly NOT satisfactory

Pros: Outstanding looks. Cool electronic control. Black finish reminds of hand rubbed lacquer. Has an electrical supply cord attached. All resistive toasting wires glow. As usual Newegg is fast and professional.

Cons: Awful toasting performance! Will blacken (burn) or not toast all breads or bagels every time - - and in the same cycle. Not for use by anyone. Saved it, new, in the box awaiting a time of need which upon arrival was well past any RMA chance. My bad, unless the manufacturer is brave enough to view this and do the right thing ?.

Other Thoughts: Careful inspection of the heating coils and their concomitant insulators seems to suggest that a defective manufacturing coil 'wrap' protocol plus an obvious lack of precision 'coil stand-offs' is the fatal gremlin here. "0" on a scale of "10".

2 out of 5 eggsToaster with potential but suffers from poor assembly

Pros: Nice features, long slot is handy for larger loaves of bread, great controls, price is decent

Cons: This toaster has many complaints about uneven toasting and burning of bread etc. I found the reason why people are having these kinds of issues with this toaster. After having inconsistent toasting I started looking at the insides of the toaster and found that my toaster was not assembled properly. The center and one side plate that holds the heating elements were not properly secured and they would move with the wire grid that clamps the toast. This let the outside plate move closer to the bread and the center plate move closer to one side and further from the other. Since the heating elements were not an equal distance from all sides of the bread some sides burned while others never toasted as much. I was able to manipulate the plates to where they are supposed to be but it isn't an easy task to complete. Once they were in the right place the bread was toasting evenly on all sides.

Other Thoughts: Owners of this toaster need to check the element plates to see if they are secured properly. If they move at all when the lever is moved to the down position then the toaster is defective. I would suggest getting a replacement toaster but the plates can be manipulated into place. Be careful because the plates are brittle and will crack easily. I decided I would try to fix it myself even if I broke it. I don't think I would risk it again because it is very difficult to do.

So all you people complaining about uneven toasting have been vindicated! I expect much better quality control from a company like T-Fal. To let this many toasters out with such an obvious problem is completely unacceptable.

I can't recommend this toaster to anyone, Avoid it like the plague. If you get a properly assembled one they are great but it seems that there are high odds you will get one that should have never left the factory.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat Design, but...

Pros: Fantastic design and interface -- the best I've seen. Long, wide slots and easy-to-use controls made this a promising purchase. Visual count-down is also a plus!

Cons: Even the lowest setting makes my toast medium-brown. If you like light-brown, you're out of luck. I have no idea how burned anything higher than the second setting would be, but anything beyond that is likely to come out looking (and tasting) like charcoal. A shame, given how nice the design and interface is.

4 out of 5 eggsToasty!

Pros: Toasts everything really well. Nice big long toasters to fit all kinds of breads. The bagel function works pretty well. The blue lights are cool. Got it for 35 plus free shipping.

Cons: The increase button came a bit stuck like the spring was missing. It isnt worth sending it back, but it seems like a silly quality control issue. When the button is pressed it sticks and doesnt come back out.

The cord isnt designed too well, seems silly that they place it in the front of the machine instead of the back where its closest to the wall.

Other Thoughts: It beeps when done!

3 out of 5 eggsHas Potential, Defective unit

Pros: It can produce good toasts, features are OK

Cons: Poor calibration. At level 2, toasts are golden brown, leval 3, getting burnt, past that its trash can time.
Plus setting button sticks and this keeps running setting away to max.

Other Thoughts: I would have returned the unit for an exchange but my wife threw away the box. A unit with better initial calibration and better quality control would be great, but not this unit.
