4 out of 5 eggssmall light packs a punch

Pros: This small and lightweight headlamp outputs an amazing amount of bright high quality light. I am extremly pleased with the performance of this headlamp. The price is a great bonus.

Cons: There are some external wires conencting to the battery pack. I could see this getting hung up on somethings in the future but for now its not an issue.

5 out of 5 eggsBRIGHT LIGHT!

Pros: Super bright LED light
Large Radiant Circular SPOT light
Easy to put on
Easy to change settings from solid to dimmer, to flashing
Perfect for spelunking

Cons: Points a little high while on the head
Have to angle it down a little bit to have the light shine on the ground

Other Thoughts: It was super cheap and I'm glad I bought it when I did. Now I have it for late night hikes and for the peppersauce caves south of Tucson AZ!

5 out of 5 eggsworked great for me

Pros: Bright, cheap.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Bought three of these when they were on sale for $9.99. Took them on a climb of Kilimanjaro and they worked great. The Cree led is very bright and the zoom works pretty well.

As others have noted, maybe the quality control is suspect, but hard to complain at the price (for a high-lumen Cree). Mine worked great.

2 out of 5 eggsBattery Box won't close. Weak illumination.

Pros: It turns on. It does put out some light. Looks nice. It adjusted to fit my head size (I am an adult American male, 6'2", with the most common male hat size in our population.). Headband was not uncomfortable to me. Might work with alkaline batteries.

Cons: Battery Box will not close! It's just made out of cheap plastic, but I have other plastic devices that don't have this problem. It is quite possible to make plastic parts to very close tolerances if you know what you are doing. But be ready to get out the Duct Tape boys to close that box. Then you're ready to go! But wait, there's more. The light output is NOT as stated. I have a pocket flashlight rated at 50 lumens that I bought here at Newegg (Icon RG101A Rogue, see my 7/21/12 review) that puts out twice as much light as this 160 Lumen Headlamp using both with freshly charged NiMH Rechargeable Batteries (only 1.2V vs 1.5V with alkaline). Go Figure. Maybe this light can't perform with rechargeable batteries. Stick to alkaline batteries only. Your light output should be better than what I got. I think Capri Tools is for Fools. Buy this and decide for yourself. But be ready to break out the duct tape to close that battery box. A knife will also come in handy for replacing the batteries and the duct tape. I will find some poor soul to give this to. It's not for me.

Other Thoughts: Looks like a high tech light. Performs like a cheap piece of junk. Battery Box doesn't close. Other reviewers have noted the battery box too. Wish I had listened to them. Sorry Newegg! Not every product is a winner. Might want to drop this one. (Hint---hint). I suggest Newegg’s less expensive 7 LED Headlamp by Liliang as a better alternative. I’d give that one 4 stars. Much brighter with rechargeable batteries and half the price of the Capri. (Win---win).

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Construction, Very Weak Light

Pros: Looks nice. Cheap price. Fits my head fine. Don't know what is up with all the fitting problems that other reviewers are having. I am an average sized adult male 6'2" and fitting is definitely NOT the issue here.

Cons: As other reviewers have said, the battery compartment is poorly/cheaply constructed. I cannot close the battery box on the unit I received. Have to tape it shut to use this weak headlamp. If you don't mind taping the battery box, and then cutting the tape to replace the batteries, then you have got the perfect headlamp for YOU.

The other problem is even worse. They claim 160-lumen output. This is fiction at its best. I have a great Icon flashlight that I only use with rechargeable (ie, lower voltage) batteries. My 50-lumen Icon flashlight puts out TWICE the light of this phony 160-lumen piece of junk. If you use rechargeable batteries like I do, then do NOT buy this unit, you will find it to be a worthless appendage. In total darkness, it would be slightly better than nothing.

2. EXTREMELY WEAK LIGHT OUTPUT, especially with rechargeable batteries. Does not get even close to 50-lumens (forget that 160-lumen nonsense lie that they are trying to SELL you).

Other Thoughts: If you want to compare light output with a REAL flashlight and get a truly superb hand-held flashlight in the process, try an ICON RG101A Rogue. This is the standard that I judge ALL flashlights by now. Icon rates it as only 50 lumens, but it is super bright, especially compared to this Chinese garbage that you are actually considering buying. Don't waste your money. If you ride a bicycle, this headlamp won't show your location, you will be virtually invisible to traffic! Good luck with that.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat product

Pros: great light, focuses and is ideal for close work. I use it occasionally as a support light for dental surgery.

Cons: found headband to be somewhat small, and of a material that will grab hair. The light mechanism is ideal.

5 out of 5 eggs160 Lumen Headlamp

Pros: Price on sale was excellent. Very bright beam, and can be focused. Well on bar with other national brand headlamps. Uses cheap AAA alkaline batteries and battery life is acceptable if you use it for long periods of time.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Very good quality work headlamp that won't break the bank.

5 out of 5 eggsNice product, good price and responsive seller.

Pros: Sturdy item with nice, bright light. Better than others I've had. Very nice for the price.

Didn't come with batteries as listed...contacted seller about this and they sent the (3) required batteries immediately...and the batteries were Duracell, not some cheapo ones.

Seller was especially responsive and item was good quality for the price, so I would buy from them again and would not hesitae recommending them.

As part of Newegg's Marketplace, the seller represents Newegg very well.

Cons: None, after seller sent the batteries that should have been included in the original shipment.

Other Thoughts: It's nice when you do business with a responsive seller who values you as a customer...and isn't defensive about their mistakes.

Gives me confidence in Newegg's Marketplace...which was my expectation because of the Newegg association...and, I wasn't let down.
