DuroStar DS4000S 4,000 Watt Portable Generator
Pros: This thing is awesome , I used it for the first time yesterday because of the storms we've been having here in West Virginia for the last 2 days knocked out the power , I plugged in the refrigerator ,deep freezer , 3 flat screen TVs , 2 computers with router & a box fan ,, it ran perfect with no problems & I'm going to order another here in a few days
Cons: NONE AT ALL
Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anyone

Saved Me During Hurricane Sandy
Pros: Started on first pull every time
Cons: Filling oil
Other Thoughts: Two weeks without power after Hurricane Sandy. This generator was used every day and ran my fridge, TV, Xbox, furnace and lights. It sips gas and by running it only when needed I could go over 2 days on a tank of gas. It started every time on the first pull. A great deal over the summer at $220. My friends ended up returning their generators to Lowes and Costco when the broke down after a few days of use.

Not New.. Used Product
Cons: I can’t believe they sent me a USED generator. When I opened up the box oil was EVERYWARE!!! On top of that the seller support sent me to a voice mail after I told them I was sent a used generator. I would not trust this seller though Newegg. Not Newegg’s fault. It’s the seller.

I'm power READY!
Pros: Started on first pull for my young helper and then surprisingly for me a old fart with floppy biceps! It handled the test load of two small ceramic heaters one at half power and one full ... approx 2500 watts from adding the two "Kill-a-Watt" meter reading measured at the heater end of a 25' 10 gauge extension 5-30 plug to 3ea standard 115v standard plug end. It looks good and manual is good too.
Cons: The single page "Unpacking Instructions" was for a different generator. It called for 1 quart of 30wt oil WHICH IS WRONG! Manual says 20oz of 10-30wt. This page also mentions a battery for starting, but this DS4000S is a pull start. Shipping bracket bolts were WAY to tight and REQUIRED a socket and small breaker bar to loosen.
Other Thoughts: After purchase but before receiving I searched net for reviews and found mention of the problems indicated in my "Cons" so I was ready for them. The generator is for standby in case of power failure. I filled the tank and added a gas stabilizer that is supposed to last for a year which I did because years ago a motorcycle I'd stored with half a tank developed rust inside from condensation. I found a large plastic garbage bag makes a snug fit dust cover. Mine's stored on a deck so has breathing room underneath.

Started on First Pull
Pros: GREAT on special price. I'm overall very impressed with it's build quality. Looks good and seems well made. Started on the first pull. Easily handled the test load of two small portable ceramic heaters (approx 3000 watts) attached via it's l5-30 plug and a Coleman 25' extension cord. The manual is very good and a spark plug wrench included.
Cons: The bolts holding the shipping bracket were VERY tight. Too tight for open end wrench. They required a socket and short breaker bar to safely loosen. DO NOT try to get 'em off with the cheap wrenches included.
Other Thoughts: The engine's oil fill and drain are awkward to access. For first fill we tipped it 45 degrees so oil from the funnel would go downhill into the opening. To drain I'll get some help to lift and hold it waist high since my old man joints don't bend well. Be able then to channel old oil into a container and use a funnel with a tube
