3 out of 5 eggsNot exciting, but for the price...

Pros: *Low, low price
*Decent for still photography
*Lightweight (easy on the back)

Cons: *Definitely not the smoothest action on panning or tilting
*Lightweight (have to hold it in order to pan / tilt) - but it does have a hook, so you could hang a sack full of rocks or something to stabilize it.

Other Thoughts: Well, what do you expect in a CHEEP tripod? All the (good) advice out there is to spend $200 on a tripod if you want smooth, fluid action for video. This one is definitely not that smooth, but it definitely doesn't cost that much either. There is a bit of "stick" initially when you try to pan/tilt, but then it's decent. I am thinking of trying some Teflon spray lube on it.

I got it to have a basic tripod for photos and for maybe basic family home movies some day. I think it will probably do halfway decent for those purposes, but don't get it if your life or your livelihood is going to depend on this thing.

Honestly, it's not worth the original "MSRP" of $100. Half that....maybe. Maybe not. Looking back now, even for my basic requirements, I would try any tripod out before buying it.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap construction

Pros: It's still working. At least it was on sale.

Cons: Cheap plastic and aluminum construction. I don't expect it to last very long.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Tripod

Pros: Solid, light, well built.

Cons: A little shorter than perfect but close enough I did not take away any eggs. (It is actually 1"taller than my previous tripod.)

Other Thoughts: I'd like to have been able to remove the quick disconnect mechanism and add a plate for the system I have been using on multiple cameras, monopods and tripods for the last 5-7 years. I solved the problem by mounting a ned base on the plate provided. (This, of course, added an inch in height, too!)

And if the collapsed length had been 1 1/2" less it would have fit in my travel luggage! But the price was right and I'll deal with it!

3 out of 5 eggsSeems sturdy, but not for video

Pros: Price (sale price, overpriced at MSRP). Fairly sturdy design, most adjustments are easy to make. The large knob adjustment is handy and easy to use. This will work OK for many applications, such as photography, or other application that don't require smooth panning ability.

Cons: The pan, quite honestly, this is very disappointing to me. The description says "two way fluid" movement, and I was hoping that panning was one of those two ways. It is not.

Other Thoughts: The price that I got this for was good, but I feel that even $5 is too much for something that won't do what I bought it for.

5 out of 5 eggsit's a tripod

Pros: Lightweight. Ovular cross sections legs are much better than round tube or rails. Good leveling bubbles. Good anchor attach point on the middle stem. Has no problems dealing with my DSLR and telephoto lens.

Cons: Nothing worth mentioning.

Other Thoughts: Photography is always a compromise between strength and weight. Anything on the tripod or camera has to be lugged around. Sometimes for days. My camera bag with all the gear weighs upwards of 30 pounds. Every ounce I can cut is a big deal. This tripod seems to be a good compromise.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap Plastic -erratic movement

Pros: Legs extend smoothly.

Cons: Made out of cheap (and I do mean cheap) plastic. Nothing moves smoothly (except the leg extensions).

Other Thoughts: Regret buying probably will return. Ugh! Price point should be less than $20.

2 out of 5 eggsCheap plastic/aluminum tripod

Pros: If you are looking for a cheap basic tripod this one is for you. It hasn't broke yet.

Cons: Upper portion of tripod is completly low quality plastic. I don't expect it to last very long.

Other Thoughts: I may have been spoiled with tri-pods in the past and am expecting too much but to think this tri-pod was almost $100.00 originally and is now on sale for about half that makes me believe the lower price is more in line with what this should have cost in the first place on the high end. There are much better 100.00 tri-pods on the market.
