Pros: Good silver finish, very bright, no corrosion or spots.
Good price.
Good size sapphire for the price.

Cons: Blue sapphire looks black even in bright lighting. It requires a flashlight pointed at the side or back to make this come close to the picture. During wear this will always show up black and opaque, even in sunlight. I'm going to return this for fear of disappointing my wife. I hate to say it, but a thinner sapphire (or lighter blue) might be a better choice.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend getting sapphire earrings any smaller than this. 3.5 carats (1.75 each) is a good size and the minimum to not look cheap for your significant other. Smaller sizes might be appropriate for your daughter.
