Zymox is for the treatment of acute and chronic otitis externa due to bacterial, viral and yeast infections. Factors that predispose the ear to otitis externa: • Excessive skin folds in ear • Floppy ear carriage • Stenosis • Excessive hair • Excessive cerumen production • Suppressed immune system • Systemic antibiotics Zymox directions: • No prior or post cleaning required • Apply liberally to fill ear canal • Gently massage, working medication into infected area • Permit pet to shake their head to remove excess • Treat once a day for 7 days for acute infections • Treat once a day for 14 days for chronic infection Active Ingredients: Lactoperoxidase system plus Lysozyme, Lactoferrin, Hydrocortisone (1%).

As a bonus it also eliminates most ear infections. My dog would shake his head violently and paw at his ear every day (obvious sign of ear infection). Usually this is an expensive vet visit to get expensive medicine. Not anymore!! there was a noticeable improvement with the very first application. By the third day there was no more head shaking and only occasional ear pawing.after the 4th day I dont believe there was any infection left. But I followed the suggestion and treated for the entire week. By the end of the week, the ear problem was completely gone!! I will always keep a bottle on hand. What a wonderful product!!! Cons: the only cons I can think of is somewhat higher cost than other over the counter trreatments, but I dont compare this to those. This is more appropriately compared to prescription grade treatments; and it cost ALOT less than those!! Also its not available in my area so I have to mail order via internet (but thats okay by me). It's well worth the cost and effort!! Other Thoughts: If you own a dog and he is pawing at his ear, scratching his ear, or shaking his head, then give this a try. This could save you and your pet much pain and suffering. All without dragging "Fido" into the vet's office to hand over last weeks pay!! I cannot say enough about this product. My dog is very susceptibility to ear infections. When I first notice her favoring an ear - I start using the lotion. I know it has saved several expensive vet bills. Tried many things in the past, but this stuff took about 3 days and my dog's chronic ear infection disappeared. Cons: Directions seem to call for using quite a bit, and if you use the amount they say it can get messy. Other Thoughts: Don't bother going to the vet for yeast infection in your pet's ears.
