Pros: Works after modification. Almost plug and play.

Cons: Didn't fit without modification

Other Thoughts: The large four pin connector had a tab that needed to be cut off before it would fit the factory harness. Optispark connector fit well. If someone needs a new harness for their Optispark this one works with a small modification, at least for a '96 Camaro.

2 out of 5 eggsNon-stop headaches

Pros: Quality materials.

Assembled well.

Looks and feels like a solid, impressive harness.

Cons: The gray, harness-side connector was incorrect and would not fit.

My car will intermittently not start with this harness.

Other Thoughts: I bought this harness to replace my stocker that was suffering from broken pigtails, brittle loom, and exposed copper. The harness worked, but I didn't feel good about it.

When this harness arrived, I attempted to install it only to find that the gray connecter that connects to the engine wire harness was not compatible with the pigtail on my engine harness. It had two little keyways inside the connector and the pigtail on my engine harness only had one keyway. I had to bust out the trusty paperclip and transfer my original gray connector onto this new opti harness.

When I got this harness all hooked up, the engine would not start. It initially threw a DTC 16 (no low resolution pulse detected. The PCM shuts off fuel when this occurs). I cleared the code and it did not come back but the engine still would not start. I ensured fuel pressure with my fuel pressure gauge, tried my spare coil, my spare ICM, even rewired the opti pigtail so the wires were backwards. Nothing worked until I plugged my old opti harness back in and it started and ran fine.

I used my multimeter to verify the opti harness had continuity and checked the resistance. All four wires had continuity and ~0.2 ohms. The ONLY thing I can think of is that the long opti-side connector isn’t getting deep enough somehow. It is exactly the same size as my stock connector so I don’t know. There have been two instances where the car did start and run with this TSP harness but 2 starts out of 20 attempts does not cut it.

Car is a 1995 Pontiac Trans Am with a vented AC Delco optispark.
