5 out of 5 eggsYes, there is a power off/on button

Pros: Yes, there is a power on/off button, contrary to what other reviewers are writing. You just have to hold it down for a few seconds. Also, it is small - that is obvious - why buy something that is obviously small and then give a low rating because of that? That is like somebody buying a compact car and then complaining that it is small. I like this unit, I like the features. I don't look at other mp3 players to compare, so maybe others are better but I enjoy this one, and the battery has a good long life.

Cons: a little hard to clip on my waist band.

5 out of 5 eggsVery confused by the other reviews...

Pros: Incredibly long battery life, it lasts me a week of using it walking to and from class and working out. I also use it for the car rides to and from college (about 7 hours) and always have 30-40% battery life when I get home. (Another reviewer mentioned 2 hour battery life, if he is telling the truth, then he has a defective model and should return it for a new one. Most of my friends have these, battery life is easily 10 hours of constant use). The touchscreen is really great, simple interface and easy to use. It can hold a lot of music, but if you don't have room, it's got a built in radio. The built in pedometer is a very nice touch, set it before your workout and forget about it.

Cons: The radio requires headphones to be plugged in. If you try to use it in a dock, you will get an error message that there is no antenna. This is a big design flaw. No camera, I don't really want a camera on here, but it was in older models and it would be nice if there was a once-in-a-lifetime photo while I was jogging. Definitely get the 16GB, it's only $30 more and it holds twice the music, it's a very reasonable price (this one is a little expensive).

Other Thoughts: I really have no idea what the other reviewers were talking about, they clearly didn't spend much time with their iPods before writing the reviews. Firstly, there is an on/off switch... Just as with EVERY iPod model, hold the power button down. In fact, it automatically turns completely off by itself if you don't use it for a day. I have let mine sit for over a week before and it turned on with 95%+ battery life. Secondly, the controls are highly intuitive and very easy to use while working out. True, the touchscreen can be a little bit cumbersome if the iPod is clipped to your waistband or something, but the headphone controller provides all the functionality you need and if you want to use your own headphones, double-clicking the power button will activate a user-selectable function (play/pause, skip track, etc). Newegg reviews are usually much more accurate than these, I don't know what happened. It's a great device, you honestly can't go wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mp3 Player

Pros: Small and very easy to operate

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: People might think it's too small but if you want a phone-sized mp3 player, you might want to look at the iTouch...

1 out of 5 eggsConfused??

Pros: Its small

Cons: No on/off switch, therefore battery need constant recharging, and wonder what happens when I need a new battery? Will the cost exceed the product price? Secondly, don't even think of exercising and advancing to the next song, its impossible to do. Why bother with a stopwatch/watch in the program when again you need to stop and go thru a menu, same with the pedometer. It should be a few swipes on the screen and intuitive, instead its burdensome and ponderous. Still trying to figure out the rest of the intricacies and wonder, is this a mean spirited joke by Apple since I have never owned any Apple products before.

Other Thoughts: Luckily purchased via a promo deal for less than list price and did include a i radio worth $77 or else I would try to return.

2 out of 5 eggsA throw away gift.

Pros: It's kind of entertaining for about 10 minutes. Wave files sound pretty good (if you have a nice set of earbuds).

Cons: Batter life is incredibly short. Expect to recharge once if not twice daily. I left for the gym with a fully charged unit and it was almost dead when I got home 2 hours later! This was my first Apple product purchase and probably my last. The headphones that come with it are useless. You will need to spend at least another $50 - $100 for ones that will let you hear it's true quality. So that means your $150 purchase just turned into a $250 purchase.

Other Thoughts: Dissapointed that this thing cost so much. It will probably be up for sale this week so I can try and get back some of the money I wasted on this thing. I really don't see what all the excitement is with these things. They appear to be engineered and made for the masses to use for a year or two and then throw away for something else. Again, I really don't see the fascination with it. I just wish I could get all my money back and return it to NewEgg.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Little player

Pros: The volume and off/on button are very nice. The clip is very strong. The screen is very nice too. This is my first touch screen player so it takes a little getting used too. The pedometer is cool when you exercise. Sound quality is great.

Cons: The price is too high, considering it doesn't play video. Using the radio really sucks the battery down fast. I was at 50% battery after only 30 min using the FM radio and the pedometer at the same time. The player doesnt really ever turn off. It just goes to sleep mode or something if you press the off button.

Other Thoughts: The thing about apple is probably next year they will come out with a new version of this that is widescreen and will play video and have a camera. They like to make money (doesn't everyone?) so they dont put all the bells and whistles in the first versions of things, so next year they can ad more stuff, and people can buy again. The older nanos can play video can take pictures...

It does have a lot of features. There's no stop button for playing songs, only pause. So to really stop you need to go to the next song and not hit play.

Overall it is a nice player. Should be priced between $100-125 though.
