4 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: It works fine. It's no wireless router but for wired, it works. Had it for years without problems.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have BEFSR41 V3.

3 out of 5 eggsDefinition of BASIC

Pros: Does what is advertised

Cons: Very, very, VERY basic features. DHCP client list would've been nice.

Other Thoughts: Purchased for a client that is "sensitive" to wireless signals. He can hear them and they give him headaches. I can relate to this. Ya know the ant races or snow on a non HD television when there's no signal? Well, those frequencies being output are like finger nails on a chalkboard to me. So, I understand to some extent.

2 out of 5 eggsGet a WRT54GL instead

Pros: Plug-in play. Very easy to setup.

Cons: I haven't had this router for 4 months before it started to drop connections. Horrible deal considering my last router lasted 2 years before it gave out.
Extremely cheap and low-tier hardware capabilities just get a WRT54GL with the dd-wrt firmware.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellant router

Pros: Router was easy to set up and I wanted the NAT option. It was purchased for the price. My ideal home router would have been 150$. This allows me to utiliZe a WAP connected to a lan port on the wired router and place the WAP elsewhere in the house.

Cons: I do not like the CD install nor did I use it. It would be great if Cisco/linksys supplied a support site which explained all the options and when to enable or disable them. Newbies are forced to google each option or involve linksys directly.

Other Thoughts: Old wired router Linksys BEFSR41 served without fault for better than 5 years. TS showed it was router that was intermittent and dropping internet connection. Replacement did not give higher speed ( certainly not expected) but does lack the uplink port

2 out of 5 eggsGood when it works.

Pros: I wanted a wired router to replace my old Netgear RT-314 since it didn't have a 10/100 WAN port. The BEFSR41 is a decent router for it's price range with some nice features and did everything I needed.

Cons: After over a year in service I started to get random disconnects. I had read many reviews about similar problems others had experienced as their routers aged. I guess I figured there is always going to be some defective units with any product and maybe my experience would be different. I was wrong. Of course the limited 1 year warranty period is over.

1 out of 5 eggsWarning

Pros: It maybe a Linksys but slow and takes forever to setup a simple home network of 4 PCs

Cons: Drops signal on internet when 2 or more PCs try to access internet. I tried to upgrade firmware to help resolve dropping signals but firmware was corrupted download from Linksys site and now I have a paper weight.Give me a Good old US Robotics

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: When it worked, it did a good job. But both units failing at about the same age is enough for me.

Cons: Purchased router Sept 2009, Linksys sent a replacement in Mar 2010. Now, in Aug 2010 the replacement is failing to with the same problems. Going to go buy a new router and it definitely WON'T be this model or anything from this company.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Router

Pros: Router is >4 years old, and I have had no problems. Primary use is internet access. All ports are off as were defaulted. Firmware is 1.04.02. Do not online game, but VPN to work is critical. Worked with Verizon in TX using SonicWall. Worked with CentryTel in MO using SonicWall and Symantec (note wtih CentryTel had to change IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1 for to work due to their config.

Cons: none
