2 out of 5 eggsweak router

Pros: looks good wired connections seem to work ok

Cons: is supposed to have good range but is no better than my four year old netgear router. also it drops the wireless connection frequently. i purchased this router for range and speed, but niether one work any better than my old netgear.

Other Thoughts: dont bother buying this, it is not worth the money. i have purchased five different routers in the past year and i see that all wirless routers are a pain in the rear. none of them work great. what is the deal, you think someone would make a newer router that is reliableand work 95 % of the time. i have a linksys wrt54g in my office and it by far is the best simple router that always works. but it is slow.

1 out of 5 eggsUsually I don't write reviews

Pros: but when I do, I ensure I've waited long enough and that I've exhausted all other options.

I purchased this router and for the first couple/few months, it worked decently.

Cons: That's where the story takes a nose-dive. The router started dropping packets; dropping Internet (wired and wireless) connection; and disallowing access to the LAN. I contacted EnGenius for an RMA and shipped the device off in September. In October, after phone calls (attempting to talk to someone, usually leaving my information after waiting for as long as an hour an ten minutes to speak to someone) I received an e-Mail for return. Since then I have heard nothing. I have attempted to contact them several times, save using Certified Mail, and now it is December 1st. I have waited three months with RMA with one e-Mail.

Other Thoughts: I have learned a valuable lesson. While I normally do research and check several websites for reviews, I will stick with brands that I am familiar with; ones that I have trusted in the past - to handle my business in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsPass This One Up

Pros: -Fast when it works.
-Good amount of features.
-Decent price.

Cons: -Crashes all the time.
-Tried sending in for warranty but never got response back from Engenius RMA department.

Other Thoughts: We actually resell access points at our consulting firm and this is very disappointing. I may need to find an alternative to our EAP-9550 AP offering if Engenius can't even process an RMA.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible Router, especially for gaming.

Pros: Supports multiple forms of network security. 4 Ethernet connections, as well as unlimited wireless connections.

Cons: The router will lock out all directly connected ethernet connections quite frequently. Wireless will still function, but the router itself will need rebooted in order to regain network controll via ethernet. And this occurs far more often than you'd like. I have to reboot the router, on average, about twice a week. There are days where it seems to drop hourly for several hours. And then there is the rare occassion where you have to perform multiple reboots to get it working again.

Other Thoughts: For being labeled as a "gaming router" This is probably one of the worst choices you can make in gaming-network hardware. Unless your desktop can run wireless, it would probably be better looking for a more reliable router for your network.

1 out of 5 eggsBusted Out of Box

Pros: Pretty box?

Cons: The RP-SMA antenna ports were loose out of the box. I was unable to tighten antennas (with my thumb) because solder joints were broken internally. The antenna connectors just spin when I turn the antenna. Wireless doesn't work because there is no antenna.

I would have fixed it myself except that the plastic clamshell is impossible to take apart.

Other Thoughts: I am very disappointed. I ordered this last week to install this week and now it is broken.... I hope Engenius can make it up to me...

Don't buy. Engenius ships product with cold solder joints and that can bite you at anytime (even after the warranty). If you so much as move the antenna from your working unit 2 years from now it could just give way.

2 out of 5 eggsNeeds reboot weekly

Pros: Nice and fast, powerful signal

Cons: The Pros are negated by the fact that it locks up at least once a week and needs to be rebooted, sometimes more often. With only 15 users that is ridiculous. Not worth the money.

1 out of 5 eggsTry and reach their tech support-good lucj

Pros: Many tweaking options

Cons: Coluld not get it to work with att dsl modem .When set to DHCP setting it is giving me network error.Tried to call tech support spend 2 times 30minutes waiting for someone to answer but no luck so too me this is product is useless because tech support is non existent (unless you want to listen to many minutes of elevator music)

Other Thoughts: No matter how good hardware is if your tech support is that bad I will never buy your product because when equipment fails I don't have hours to wait for you to respond.I work as IT and this kind of customer service is unacceptable in my bussines

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: Very easy router to set up, has all the features that I needed in a device. VERY quick lan speeds coupled with the good range and speed of the wireless exactly fit the bill. Box is built very solid and is now mounted on my wall.

Cons: Doesn't have a usb port for data sharing throughout the network, is also lacking on the dual 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz technologies. No real biggy as I have no need for data sharing and most devices can't read 5 ghz including my pc and my new 360 (slim).

Other Thoughts: very nice device especially for the money. stable network makes the experience of online gaming just awesome. recommend!!!

2 out of 5 eggsWired speeds not impressive

Pros: Was easy to setup and get working both wired and wireless. Seemed stable and didn't require any rebooting for the several days I tried it out.

Cons: I have Verizon FIOS service for 25mbps upload and download speeds. With my 10/100 ActionTech router I actually get those speeds, so I figured with this router and it being Gigabit I would see the same wired performance. What I consistently got; however, was 18mbps download and only about 5mbps upload. This was not a hiccup because I alternated tests between the 2 routers and this was the consistent results. This is really unacceptable for me since I work from home, use a VOIP phone service, and stream movies to two different rooms in my house with Netflix and HuluPlus. So this one is being returned and the search is still on for a N router that won't reduce my wired speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Router

Pros: Fast, stable, doesn't need to be rebooted as often as the other commercially available routers

Cons: A bit cumbersome if you don't know what you're doing.

Other Thoughts: This router received rave reviews on Small Net Builder. They definitely were on the ball on this one.
