Pros: Used this router for 4 years. No problems until recently. See cons.

Cons: Major security hole. Found unknown computers showing up in my network. After changing network passwords, router passwords and after restarting router and entering my router management console there was someone all ready in it. Just do a search online and you'll find the articles and how Netgear blew them off. I removed my router and I'm waiting for my new Pepwave Surf SOHO. Hopefully it will be better. I used to be a Netgear fan and I'm currently contacting everyone I helped connect Netgear routers to remove them until this problem is fixed.

1 out of 5 eggsNot reliable

Pros: Dual bands.

Cons: Not reliable at all. The internet drops everyday. Has to restart the router each time to reconnect to the internet. Much worse than my old router.

1 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted, bad WAN port.

Pros: Stock firmware provides a lot of control and flexibility. Worked great and trouble-free for three months. Never needed to be rebooted.

Cons: The WAN port (the only port you can connect your modem to) stopped working after only three months of use. My DSL modem will not connect to the router when plugged into the WAN port, but connects to another router I have just fine. I have full internet connectivity when using the other router which this one replaced. I tried resetting to factory default settings, and even tried reflashing the most current firmware version, but it still doesn't work.

I'm very upset that I can't use it anymore. It will still work as a repeater, but I currently have no use for a repeater. I haven't bothered to contact Netgear for an RMA because it only came with a one month warranty and I doubt they will do anything about it.

Other Thoughts: If you do some looking around online, you will find that I am not the only one who has had the WAN port go bad on a Netgear router.

5 out of 5 eggsUnlimited Potential

Pros: I bought this as a replacement for an old DLink DIR-615 and I couldn't be happier. I mean with:

- USB support
- Concurrent dual frequency bands
- 8M Flash Memory with 64M Ram

...the specs are pretty impressive. Right now Im using the USB port as a NAS. Sharing files on a Intranet has never been easier :)

Cons: I haven't had any yet.

Other Thoughts: To be honest, I bought this router as an experiment. I read a lot of reviews from people expressing their frustration with the performance of this router but for $44.oo (refurbished unit) I took a chance. My intent from the onset was to flash the router with a custom firmware (dd-rwt) and see how things went. Therefore, I don't have any history with it as an OEM product but so far, with the custom dd-rwt firmware, its been spectacular. DD-RWT unlocks the full power of this router and seems to have corrected all the issues that were present with the OEM version of the firmware.

1 out of 5 eggs3 Month Warranty. Dies after 3 months and 1 week. :[

Pros: Sleek design, great user interface

Cons: Cuts out at times, but what router doesn't?

Other Thoughts: I've owned this router for 3 months and a little over a week now, it has worked great. The major problem I'm having is that now that it is a week out of warranty this router has gone completely dead. I also had purchased a refurb modem from netgear that died just a few months after I purchased it. I advise everyone to be careful of purchasing this product! Serial #s are not given to netgear refurb products and they do not honor any sort of warranty that is covered by a regular product! Consider other options!

1 out of 5 eggsOut of the box brick.

Pros: None.

Cons: This product was bricked out of the box.

Other Thoughts: I am in the process of contacting netgear for a replacement. QA is a tough job, and I imagine it is tougher for refurbished devices. That said, I think it is fair to expect products to work when they are purchased.

I will happily come back and update this review if I get a working product. Wish me luck!

5 out of 5 eggsNice Router!

Pros: Clean design.
Interface is easy to use, and it includes guest network settings and wireless isolation.
USB port for media is a nice touch.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I needed a faster router to use streaming, and I came across this one from Netgear. I have used netgear in the past, and they continuously improve their products, and this is no exception. It is manufacturer re certified, but it looks and performs like it's brand new.
It has a lot of nice features like wireless isolation (so that other PCs can't see/connect to you), and guest network settings.
I have no issues at all streaming video from either the media sharing folder, or to ChromeCast.
This is a VERY NICE router.
