1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable, dead after 3 weeks.

Pros: It worked well when it was working.

Cons: The player no longer recognizes the DVD's after about three weeks of use.

Other Thoughts: Spindle no longer turns DVD, everything else appears to be functioning.

Pros: Always relied on the Toshiba name and rep in times past. Not any more.
Nice, slim unit with decent blu ray play ability, easy setup and easy to understand functions. Gave ten months of reasonably good service.

Cons: The problem arose with wi fi. Suddenly, the unit would not connect with either of my routers. Toshiba support (Sigourney) took me through the steps I had already covered numerous times, which ended in a failed connection each time. Can't fault her or the script. After several tries, she politely told me there was no more she could do. The unit had passed the 90-day warranty period. Looking around the net, those who complained about product worthiness largely cited wifi malfunctions as the main problem. Some lost wifi function after much shorter periods. That indicates a product defect.

Other Thoughts: There is little I can do in this case. Product has shown other signs of breakdown; non-response to remote, needing to be unplugged to turn off, etc. I will use it as long as it works, for whatever function remains. The main lesson is not to buy anything which carries a warranty so short as to indicate a manufacturer's lack of confidence in the product or greed in the form of an "extended" warranty. Best I can do here is to move Toshiba from the "Preferred" column to the "Buyer Beware" column.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Easy! This device is plug and play. Well thought out design. I had read previous reviews here before I purchased it stating issues using the WIFI, but I had no issues at all. The device found my netgear router right away and I was watching online movies within minutes.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible! Stay away!

Pros: Suppose to be a 3D device, good price, offers wifi and a wired connection. Trusted name...maybe.

Cons: Wifi died on me just after Toshiba's 90 day warranty, they are refusing to replace. Will freeze quite often. Doesn't shut off when you tell it to. Make sure the outlet is close because you will have to unplug it to shut it off quite often.

Other Thoughts: I spent $107 on this unit thinking it would be a great buy, especially since it is advertised as a 3D BD player. I don't own a 3D TV yet but figured the investment in this player would be worth it when I do upgrade eventually. As stated above the wifi died after a firmware upgrade. I called Toshiba and since my device was just out of the 90 day warranty, they wouldn't touch it. 3 months in and I have a blue ray player that won't connect to wifi. If you only play Blue Ray movies on this device, then you should be okay. But, a company that pushes an update that bricks your wifi and then REFUSES to make it right because 90 days has elapsed, hmm....I think I'll be buying a different brand. Beware of this player, don't go cheap and buy this and definitely don't take comfort in a "trusted brand" such as Toshiba. So after 3 calls to Toshiba and getting hung up on and yelled at by "customer service" I'm calling it a night....and never buying another Toshiba brand again, I'd advise all of you to do the same.

5 out of 5 eggsEggcellent

Pros: Perfect picture, Dolby sound, wireless Netflix and others. My unit performs exactly as it should! Set-up took 15 mins. for entire unit including wireless handshake. Blu-Ray movies and Netflix are awesome! I'm going to order another for the bedroom.

Cons: None so far.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware!

Pros: ?

Cons: Began to die shortly after setup. Other reviews also indicate that the unit is freezing. I tried to do a firmware upgrade, hoping it would fix the problem. No luck. It never got that far before it locked up.

Other Thoughts: I'm one of those folks that has strong brand loyalty. I bought a Toshiba LED and soundbar, and wanted a Toshiba blu ray player. But since this seems to be their top of the line model, I had to break ranks and get another brand.
