1 out of 5 eggsNot reliable! Choose a different brand!

Pros: It was easy to setup and had a nice selection of apps but...

Cons: This blu-ray player was a Christmas gift from my Grandma. I set it up on Christmas day and immediately noticed how sluggish it is. After connecting it to my wireless internet and upgrading the firmware. Later that day i decided to watch a movie on netflix. After logging in i watched a few tv show episodes when the blu-ray player suddenly froze. I tried shutting it down with the remote and the button on the player itself but nothing seemed to work so i unplugged it from the wall outlet. I dismissed it as a one time thing but later that day a few of my family members experienced the same thing. After the player froze the SIXTH time in the same day, i decided to return it with the receipt i had.

I drove down to the place of purchase and told them that i would like a refund so that i could replace this player with a better one. The store representative was very nice and said "sure, let me take care of that for you!". A few minutes later he came back and told me that they are unable to return the player because it was purchased more than 30 days ago. My Grandma, deciding that she wanted to start Christmas shopping early purchased the blu-ray player 2 months before Christmas. The store representative then told me that i could send it in to be fixed, so i did. I asked him how long it would take for them to get it back and he told me "4-6 WEEKS". I found out a few days ago that these are popular problems. So instead of having a nice enjoyable Christmas i spent it dealing with this craziness.

Other Thoughts: Final thoughts: If you are looking to buy a blu-ray player go with a different brand, they might cost a little bit more but they will be much more reliable! You get what you pay for!

2 out of 5 eggsUnimpressed

Pros: Nice picture, great sound, lots of extras and it's quiet....when it works.

Cons: Turns off randomly when playing DVDs and Blu-Rays. Upgrade process over network failed repeatedly forcing me to use a USB flash drive. Randomly has "snow" in picture on menus and in movies that can only be fixed by unplugging the unit and then plugging it back in. And it's sluggish in the menus.

Other Thoughts: I could have lived with the updates not working over the wired network connection and the slow menus, but the unit shutting off while watching movies (5 for 5) and the snow (dancing white pixels on the screen) were deal breakers. I wouldn't recommend this unit to anyone, highly recommend looking elsewhere for a good Blu-Ray player.

5 out of 5 eggsBDX3300 ... a good buy

Pros: Good media format support
Solid pictures
Low price
Smart features and DLNA

Cons: Lightweight build quality
Basic onscreen presentation
Fiddly remote
No DivX playback

Other Thoughts: I purchased this product after the Sony I bought because it has an excellent antenna for the wireless connection. And, no, you do not need an external USB device to connect wirelessly. The Sony had about a 34% wireless connection and this Toshiba consistantly runs aroun 50-60%. It has a decent amount of apps available and they are easy to access. Overall I am quite happy with the functionality of this Blu-Ray disk player and would recommend it to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: Does what it says. It is wireless and you do not need a USB adapter for the wireless. Easy to set up had it running in no time. Love the Netflix button as we do not have Cable TV just cable internet. It is very light weight and small footprint.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Buy it before they raise the prices.
