Brown wrapping paper flat wrapped three times.. Like an x-mas present. That was then put in an envelope... No bubble wrap no protection from drops... nothing... WTH people this is a HARD DRIVE... not some plastic toy. Other Thoughts: Please take more care when packaging and shipping sensitive equipment. I have yet to test this hdd to see if it still functions. Good thing I spent the little extra money and got the 2 year warranty. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you? It is absolutely the worst drive i have ever used. i've had to reformat it twice, and finnaly SONY is sending me a new one, it's only 4200rpm (according to SONY), it's Hot, it's loud. and if I could give it a score of ZERO i would. 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful. Makes lots of noise and the pc can't read it anymore. A warning sign, for those that have it already... a slight clanking noise whenever you turn it off. Quiet enough, you don't hear anything from the hard drive if you have your TV running at normal volume. Get hot very quickly, especially when writing data constantly. Luckily I have it mounted in an aluminium external case, which conducts the heat out very quickly. This one will definitely make your laptop run hotter, so if that is of consideration, I'd stay away from this drive. I'd strongly recommend it for external usb storage type setup.
