1 out of 5 eggsReally Disappointed in Sandisk on this one

Pros: Was super fast for about 3 months. Used as a system drive in my Asus G73, and boy did that thing fly!

Cons: About 3 months in, the drive began behaving erratically. I began getting glitches and hang-ups here and there. Not sure what the problem was, I pressed on. This got steadily worse, eventually resulting in the occasional BSOD. I was advised by Sandisk support to update the firmware and adjust some Windows power settings. I did these things, and got immediate blue screen as soon as it booted into Windows (meaning I could effectively do nothing at that point).

I threw it in an enclosure and have connected it to another PC to run some tests. Checkdisk hangs up about halfway through and refuses to budge. The SMART diagnostic through Sandisk's own SSD software refuses to move past 10%. I even reformatted and tried to reinstall Windows, but even that fails.

Other Thoughts: Loved the drive when it was working well. Unfortunately, that was a very short period of time!

Sandisk, I just want a working SSD. Please make this right!

Pros: Fast. Worked great when it worked.

Cons: Dead after four months. Five year warranty, bit it's been over a month since SanDisk received my dead unit and has still not sent the replaceement.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

Pros: I jumped on this when the price dropped, shortly after I accidentally dropped my laptop (fortunately with no ill effects). I used Clonezilla to transfer the image from my old drive with little or no problems.

Boot up and shut down are a fraction of what they were with the platter drives and apps launch fast fast fast.

Cons: None So Far.

Other Thoughts: I have noted no change in battery life as a result of switching to the SSD

1 out of 5 eggscomplete Drive failure after 4 hourse

Pros: price seemed reasonble for a "trusted" brand name

Cons: I cloned my internal laptop HD to my new Sand Disk Extreme SDSSDX 480G and one was finished after 4 hours, it refused to boot. upon restart, I tried to wipe the drive and start again which would have been another 4 hour process, Apple's drive utility would not see the drive. I tried another enclosure and 2 other Mac Pro's. Seeing how I had all of my personal and business data cloned to a drive that was now dead. I had a huge problem. After 1.5 hours with Sandisks tech support in India, they setup an RMA and allowed me to destroy the drive to safeguard my data. It's now been 8 days, I am out $369 dollars and have no drive. Sandisk has not done anything I would consider reasonable to expedite getting me a new drive. I emailed this story to Newegg and got an automated response with an RMA number, ignoring my request to allowed to destroy the dead drive to safeguard data. I realize these things can happen with hard drives but I am extremely disappointed in SanDisk and New Egg's lack of attention on this. Despite spending hundreds of Dollars with them I will NEVER purchase another product from them or Sandisk. I am totally disappointed

Other Thoughts: this should have been handled better and I'd like a new drive in the next 24 hours.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate to My Earlier Review

Pros: Drive functions well if not defective

Cons: Flimsy SATA connectors
Just terrible support from the manufacturer

Other Thoughts: As an update to my earlier review, I contacted Sandisk regarding an issue with the SATA power connector. (It came apart leaving just exposed pins) They are refusing any support. I am the proud owner of a $399 paperweight.

This is my 2nd Sandisk drive. The first admittedly works flawlessly but I would look at another manufacturer.

Here is my response from escalated support:

Thank you again for your feedback on our SanDisk Customer Satisfaction Survey. We have completed the review of your incident and have found the actions and information provided were consistent with our policies and procedures. We understand that you just disconnected and reconnected the drive only once during which it broke however it still falls under a physical damage which is not covered under warranty. We are really very sorry for the same.

This Incident is now closed. Should you have any further questions please contact us at

Thank You!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Performance but...

Pros: Solid Performance, Seed, Boot times etc.

Cons: Flimsy SATA Power Connector - I had an issue when removing the drive power cable to move the drive to a different bay. Part of the plastic connector stayed in the cable connector leaving all the pins exposed Unaware of this, I unknowingly bent a pin when inserting the drive into a SATA reader..

After straightening the pin I still can't connect a power cable without it slipping off - pretty irritating.

Other Thoughts: Of course this voided my ability to return the drive and I am now dealing with Sandisk for a return or repair. While one should not expect the drive to hold up to repeated install activity, one would expect the drive to withstand removing the power cable once.. Nothing wrong with the performance but pretty delicate apparently.. I have another Sandisk in my Notebook and have been happy with it.

We will see how Sandisk treats me.

3 out of 5 eggsnot sold ready for Win8 64-bit SATA III

Pros: This is an update for my earlier *one egg* review called: Does not work. I expected to edit that review, but can't. So the SSD would not run on Windows 8 64-bit under SATA III. But I was advised to download a firmware ISO and boot to permit the ISO to update the SSD. After going through this procedure, the SSD is working properly. So I am moving up to *three eggs*. The SSD should be Win8 ready as sold. (To Newegg, please remove my one-egg review)

Cons: Should run on Win8 without firmware update.
