2 out of 5 eggsWrong Part

Pros: Works fine on desktop.

Cons: Wrong physical size for Dell mini.

Other Thoughts: This 3rd party seller took way too long to ship it, and it arrived too late. Now, its been a week, and they have not responded to the RMA request, which was sent twice. Now I'm out of $50 and shipping. Going to eba-y it. Not ever dealing with this seller again.

5 out of 5 eggsAmzing!!

Pros: Very fast read/write speed. System loaded considerably faster than with old 4gb SSD my 900A came with.

Cons: Original one I received was DOA, but NewEgg promptly exchanged the item and I was happy as can be!

Other Thoughts: Make sure to update BIOS for 900A prior to using SSD or might not work. Also, if using any flavor of linux, format with ext3. Some sites reccomend ext2 to minimize SSD write/read time due to journaling to increase performance, but it just doesn't work out. I use my 900A constantly and battery does die on me sometime if I put it in S3 sleep, and it caused many filesystem headaches before I converted it to ext3.

4 out of 5 eggsGood drive

Pros: Easy to install, I did notice a slight performance incease on the Eee PC 900A (upgraded from 1GB RAM to 2GB).
No special drivers required.
Windows XP Home Edition had no issues.
No moving parts, doesn't generate as much heat

Cons: Did not see the "oh, WOW" performance increase that other reviewers have stated with XinXP (with Linux, definatly much better performance).
Because of how new the SSD technology is, price is a little high for the capacity.

Other Thoughts: Some netbooks will require a BIOS update to work with the SATA mini PCI-e drive (my Eee PC 900A already had the latest update from ASUS).
NEVER DEFRAG A WINDOWS BASED PC/NETBOOK/LAPTOP WITH A SSD DRIVE. You will destroy the performance. There are no "faster" areas of an SSD drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for eee 900A, but go bigger, same speed, or bigger and slightly slower.

Pros: Very fast. Loads windows 7 / OS X / and eeebuntu very quickly. I can easily reboot from one OS to the other without feeling like I'm waiting for the thing to boot up.

Cons: Although it is very fast, which is why I gave it the 5 stars, it's not quite all I Imagined it would be. It doesn't really feel as extremely fast as I had imagined. I imagine the slightly slower version would be hard to distinguish from this one, though I have nothing to compare it against.

Other Thoughts: Get a bigger SSD. My first thought was to get the faster 32g drive thinking it would be enough for tri-boot, and lighting fast. It is, but it's a little cramped; and I don't think the performance advantage you get with this as compared to the slower one will be near as noticeable as the switch to SSD from HD; though you will notice the lack of space. For 20 bucks more I could have had twice the space, which would have made life much easier, and nicer. I was going to get a 32gb SDHC, but they're pretty slow, and another external drive for each OS. It's nice to have space on the OS partitions (for OS updates that demand it for instance). For the same price as the 32g SDHC, and this SSD, I could have gotten the larger 64g faster drive, and been in a much better position. If you're only going to be running one OS, this should be ok. If you're running two or more... do yourself the favor and get the 64.

2 out of 5 eggsgo cheaper

Pros: still much much faster than my stock 901 ssd

Cons: doesnt quite reach specified speeds at all. like the reviewer below me i get BARELY about 100 sequential read and only 50 sequential right. this really isnt much better than its 32gb little brother for about 40 bucks less. save your money and get the cheaper one for the same performance.

Other Thoughts: just wish it reached its advertised speeds or at least close...

3 out of 5 eggsfaster than original ssd, but nowhere near advertised speeds

Pros: The read speeds are > 100MB/s

Cons: the drive has a sequential write spec up to 100MB/s but only comes to about 50MB/s

Other Thoughts: save your money and buy the FPM32GRSE if you need an ssd replacement. Not only is it cheaper it offers similar performance.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic for the 900A!

Pros: Extremely fast! As was previously posted - about a 30 second boot time for Linux! Ubuntu to be specific in my case. This installation was quick and easy. Working perfectly.

Cons: Not a thing. Although read my other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I had tried this on the 900 before the 900A, and apparently the 900 is not compatible with this drive (at least with the BIOS revision I have). I had the 900A already on the way and just wanted to test out the drive, but while in the 900 Ubuntu would freeze at attempting SCSI emulation. I tried Windows Setup, which formatted and wrote to the drive, but then the drive was not able to boot - blinking cursor of doom. Probably was my BIOS revision! But I'm selling the 900 anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus EEE PC 900a - works great!

Pros: Easy install, worked right out of the box.
Dramatically speeded up performance in linux ~30 second bootup
Runs great with windows 7 as well ~ 45 second bootup
Snappy program response
Quick shutdown

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I couldnt be happier with this upgrade, great speed benefits, as well as capacity, at a price that I feel is entirely reasonable for a device of this caliber.

Cheers to Asus for making a netbook that is able to function like this, and cheers to Super Talent for making a product that works so well with it!
