1 out of 5 eggsNot so good

Pros: Looks OK

Cons: Poor subwoofer. Making noise when not in use. Cracking noise during use.

Other Thoughts: One would think a system with msrp of $1000 be of good quality. Not, sadly not. The subwoofer making noises when not in use (on standby), with in the first month. Not worth the money, no matter how cheap it seems to be compared to its msrp. I guess the msrp is used to fool people.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Speakers, Bad Subwoofer

Pros: price

Cons: customer service, subwoofer

Other Thoughts: This system met my expectations initially. After approximately six months of use, the subwoofer began making the popping and thumping noises randomly, even when the system was powered off. I contacted Martin Logan customer service and received a quick reply. They game me a RMA number and I had to disassemble the amplifier from the subwoofer and pay to ship the amp back to them. I have not received the replacement yet, as I just shipped this off today. Overall, the folks are Martin Logan are aware of this problem and do little to fix it. I do not think I should have to pay to return their substandard product that is covered under their warranty. Most reputable companies would email a prepaid postage label, or send the replacement first with a prepaid label to return the defective product. Not "if", but "when" this replacement amp/sub fails, I will be replacing it with a Polk unit.

1 out of 5 eggsMore out of pocket money if there's problem

Pros: Good price.

Cons: I took my chance after reading many reviews of the subwoofer problem. I even bought 2 years extended warranty thinking that will cover the subwoofer issue if needed. Long behold, my subwoofer is no longer working. I called Newegg and they said to call MartinLogan directly and found out that the 2-year warranty I bought at check-out was from a third party not directly through Newegg. I called MartinLogan and was told that I have to pay out of pocket for sending the backplate of 11 lb. from the subwoofer to them before they send out a replacement part. This is while I'm within their 1 year warranty. If I knew I have to pay additional out of pocket I would never purchase the extended 2-year warranty at check-out from Newegg. I haven't brought the backplate to the post office yet but for 11 pounds shipping, I know that's not cheap. I'm very disappointed and dissatisfied with how this is handled.

4 out of 5 eggsNice speaker set. awesome service!

Pros: Great sounding speaker set for the money! Excellent customer service department! (Read below)

Cons: The sub finally starting crackling and popping after about three years of use

Other Thoughts: I had purchased this set from Newegg back at the end of 2011 and have been enjoying these ever since. They had performed flawlessly for me until about three weeks ago when the sub starting popping and crackling out of the blue! Concerned I went to the Newegg site and read the reviews about these subs. Much to my surprise I noticed a good percentage of people experiencing the same problem. Thank goodness I had registered my speakers the day I received them for the extended 5 year warranty Martin Logan offers. I sent an email the next day and within and half an hour Darrell from customer service had gotten back to me. I explained my issues and without hesitation was issueing me an RMA for the sub electronics. I packaged it up and mailed it right out. I paid to return it but I felt that was fair. Once they received my package they immediately sent me out a new sub amplifier which I had back and running in just a couple days. My customer service experience with Martin Logan was nothing short of great! Darrell made it painless, helped me out and made me a happy customer to say the least!! So many other companies are happy to give you the run around or take months to fix a problem ..if at all. Kudos to Martin Logan for stepping up and dealing promptly with this issue!!

4 out of 5 eggsMLT-2 Good Midrange System

Pros: Cheap
Looks Good
Complete 5.1 speaker set-up
Small size

Cons: Does not produce the sound of large systems.

Other Thoughts: This was an excellent deal for the price of $170. I am pleased with the satellite speakers and the sub. The center speaker could be louder but is adequate. I have heard better subs but each would be priced in the $300 dollar range so not major complaints there.

The MLT-2 system is an excellent beginner system if you can obtain it for less than $300.

4 out of 5 eggscheap when on sale!!

Pros: obviously ML are not making this model any longer that is why they put on sale for fraction of the price from $1000 to $200. I paired this with Denon x1000 and it does a decent job. Crisp and clear, comparing to Polk Audio I have I think this is better it terms of sound quality but its a little bigger compared to PA, I enjoyed watching movies and listening to music, can't live without a 5.1 set up. the subwoofer is sufficient not boomy which I like, but u can adjust it if u want to but it kills the highs if u do that. perfect for my living room 15'x15'.

Cons: size doesn't bother me though, its an older version

5 out of 5 eggsUPDATE

Pros: This is an update for a previous review. I also had an issue with the defective Subwoofer. The customer service from Martin Logan was pretty incredible and on point. I did have to pay for S&H to send it back but that was only $17. I exchanged E-mails with rep from Martin Logan untill my problem was solved; and they were never confrontational, rather focused on getting my unit fixed. Well now that it is, I am really enjoying the amazing sound for the price. Good deal.

Cons: Well obvously the Subwoofer problem, but the way it was handled by ML pretty much makes up for it because this unit was a steal at the price.

1 out of 5 eggsSub woofer fail after 3rd movie

Pros: Style, looks

Cons: Sub woofer started make a loud "cracking" sound after the second or third movie that I played, sounds like if something would be shorting out inside the sub. The sounds is very noticeable when there is a silence part of the movie or even if there is not signal at all, very disappointed.

Other Thoughts: I took long to find this out because I was waiting for really good cables and gold plated terminals to hoop up the system, I'm using 12 gauge speaker wire for the regular speakers and a high quality "gold plated sub cable" By the time I found this problem it was out of the 30 days return policy from Newegg, If you get one despite the reviews make sure you test it ASAP to make sure you get one of the good ones...

1 out of 5 eggsSubwoofer is popping and crackling horrible after 1 week of use

Pros: The price was great when I bought this ($150), but perhaps that was a red flag. Also, the other 5 speaker are still working.

Cons: The deep discount on the price (marked as $150 down from ~$1000) should have been the first warning. I got a good two days of use before the subwoofer started to make crackling and popping noises. It makes the noise regardless of the knob position or whether or not it has an audio cable connected.

The quality of the packaging was also a concern - the box was of a weak construction and the styrofoam fell apart upon opening the package, which will make it difficult to return.

Other Thoughts: Others have noted that this system has problems and I can see what they mean. Caveat emptor.
