5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value for the price

Pros: Good speed for its class
Reliable, used for more than 6 months, never got disconnected, never had to reboot.
Nice customizable options, let me do everything I wanted.
The power switch is very handy.
Cheap!

Cons: None really, just the design is so last decade.

Other Thoughts: I do not use encryption/secure connection, I personally feel that most of the connection dropping happens because of that. I use mac filtering along with no SSID broadcast. The customization was easy, connection is fast are reliable.

5 out of 5 eggsBEST ROUTER

Pros: It was cheap.
It is reliable.
No problem, since day 1.
Design is really nice.
Easy setup.

Cons: Nothing really.

Other Thoughts: This was the best router for me, There are other routers that cost $60 or more, I tried it but this one was the best in quality and more effective and efficient.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router, Might Not Be 802.11N But It Is Reliable

Pros: I purchased a WGR614 many years back and have been using it rock solid for all this time. Purchased more of these (3) because they were $10. Now I have spares. Great router that will always work unlike these other 'faster' ones.

Cons: Not 802.11N but it doesn't matter, it's reliable.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: It's a router. I'm using it to extend the range of my wireless cable modem in a long house by using the repeater mode and a long ethernet cable. It's also a backup for my cable modem which has a flaky history with wireless. They were practically giving them away. For this price, you can't pass it up. It's cheap because it won't do 802.11n "out of the box".

Cons: It turns into a clown, sneaks into my bedroom and stares at me while I sleep.

Other Thoughts: I might have dreamed the clown thing.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the pric

Pros: Cheap price.

Cons: Limited to "just an AP" pretty much. No WDS/Bridge etc. "Repeater Mode" is limited to WEP ONLY.

Other Thoughts: I needed this for my laptop, because my laptop doesn't like my network setup (WDS/Bridge). I sat it beside my main routerdaisy-chained from the main router to the Netgear's WAN port. Works fine!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Works perfectly and had no issues straight out of the box.
-Came with an Ethernet Cable.
-Practically in mint condition despite being refurbished.

Cons: -Well the only con would be it doesn't come with an installation CD but you simply need to go to www.netgear.com to get the 'No CD installation' instructions, and that was pretty easy too.

Other Thoughts: Definitely should buy this if you just want a cheap router that works well within your home.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: It works well, easy setup with no problems.

Cons: Power is a little weak if you have a large home or appartment and a little slow if you access it with many devices at the same time. I moved to a large house so purchased a Netgear with a little more power. I reconfigured this unit as a wired router and it is still working great.

Other Thoughts: Very good unit for the money but a little limited for a large house and heavy use.

5 out of 5 eggsNice upgrade for $12

Pros: 10 min set up, 150mbs, nice gui, good strength, cheap, does exactly what its suppose to.

Cons: I was expecting it to have bacon on the table this morning...I'll have a talk with it after work.

Other Thoughts: Had a 10 year old linksys that was starting to slowly die, it was assigned the same ip address to users so when one was on and someone else joined the network, it would kick them. problem solved instantly with this nice unit. I stream HD movies on my network and this works great, wifi speeds are now improved over the standard G speed. for $12 i feel like i stole money from the company.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy to set up.. if it's your only access point

Pros: -Small
-Includes a stand
-Included cable is complete- not a 2 pair cable like I've gotten with VoIP adapters and other routers just cause that's all you need for 10/100. It's about 3.5 to 4 feet long, a little over a meter.
-External antenna
-Doesn't get hot

Awesome price when you need to add a wireless access point to your home or small office and it doubles as a 4 port switch. The speed is fine for high speed internet access, maybe not HD streaming but I don't do that. Totally okay with not getting a manual, utility CD-ROM, or pretty box, which just adds to cost.

Cons: I needed it on the same network as everything else but it kept giving me messages when I tried to save the new IP settings. After a factory reset when I couldn't connect anymore and fiddling with different settings I got it to accept the IP address I wanted it to have, still not sure what I did but it works now.

You don't get a paper manual or utility disc with this so not so tech savvy users should look up how to manually set it up on the Netgear website first and see if you get it, or find someone who can. The one I got says WGR614v10 on the label, not -NAR like the title here, dunno if all of the refurbs are the same exact model. I looked at the other 614s and it seems like the same basic process though.

In Windows, when you look at the device's properties under Network, the Device Webpage URL/link doesn't redirect to the new IP address you give it. I'm sure there's some way to change that somewhere, but I go straight by IP address anyway. It's just as easy to type.

Other Thoughts: The walls in our old house make it hard to get a connection two or three rooms away when it's just the ISP's router. One room has the washer, dryer, fridge, three walls and microwave/wall oven in the way. Paired with a Power-line kit I had around for just in case, I got the router set up in a garage door style cubby in the kitchen that conveniently has an outlet, everything is hidden from view! Now that one room gets a great signal and I don't need to run cable. The router is only a little warm after being in there a few days with the door a couple inches open like it always is, compared to my other routers that are really warm and they are in a completely open space.
