2 out of 5 eggsGood drive but poor reliability

Pros: Fast write even faster read; beats out all HDDs

Cons: Reliability - drive failed after 18 months. Warranty was only for one year.

Other Thoughts: If you buy a SSD get one with at least a two year warranty.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very very fast! Updated the firmware and it works super great. Speeds are very good and even write speeds felt pretty fast. Definitely reccommend.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: I had debated between this and the corsair(samsung), but eventually bought this one due to being cheaper by 30bucks or so. The samsung however destroys this one by FAR. Just thoughts you might consider. Other than that this is still one of the best.

5 out of 5 eggsConstant firmware update making this SSD performance even better.

Pros: - Quiet, fast, no worries of drive head crashes like regular mechanical hard drives.
- Constant firmware update available for download.

Cons: - It may be expensive to some people but well worth it.
- You must backup your SSD before applying firmware update. Your SSD will be erased during the firmware update process.

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive in Nov 2008, the initial performance was poor, simultaneous read and write activities would make the drive stalling/pausing a lot. After the 1st firmware update in Jan, the drive was better. Then after the 2nd firmware update I was totally stunned by its new performance, I was able to copy files, start a few applications like MS office, Photoshop CS3, Flash CS3, etc simultaneously without having the long stalling/pausing. The feeling is like a regular mechanical hard drive.

I ran tests by using ATTO Disk Benchmark v2.34:

Before firmware ver 03-20-09 update:
- drive capacity: 100gb full out of 128gb
- around 45mb write / 120mb read

After firmware ver 03-20-09 update, restored SSD from backup:
- drive capacity: 100gb full out of 128gb
- around 84mb write / 125mb read

The write speed is nearly doubled!

Download firmware update from super talent web site.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Drive!

Pros: Fast is an understatement, Instantaneous is more accurate!

I fix computers for a living, and after setting up a Lenovo X300 (which had a Solid State Samsung Drive), I could not believe how incredibly fast it was (of course it cost over $3,000). So I immediately started researching SSD and found this drive which is less then a third the price of the Samsung (top rated in my opinion) and almost as fast.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've purchased two of these drives, both for customers. Installation is incredibly simple (which is the case for any Hard Drive), but performance is simply breathtaking. Both customers could not believe the difference in speed. Both machines had Windows XP Pro, and had boot time of 1min 15 seconds and 1 min 28 seconds respectively. After installing this drive had had both computer booting up in less then 30 seconds! I count boot time as time from when I push the power button to the time when the hour glass changes to an arrow after the desktop is up. In both cases the background image and desktop was up in less then 22 seconds.

After the computer is up and running, clicking on a program such as MS Word, Excel, Firefox, etc. The program is open before your finger finishes coming off the button of the mouse. Incredibly impressive.

If you want a fast, quite, and long battery lasting laptop, look no further.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: looks stunning and preforms even better. boots OS X in about 28 seconds from a cold boot. launches all apps in less than a minute good SSD for the price

Cons: write speeds are defiantly less than impressive but a great step up up from a 5400 RPM drive

Other Thoughts: if running OS X be sure to turn off the sudden motion sincere because it doesn't play nice with SSDs and will otherwise ocationly lock up. SMS still works for apps like liquid mac that utilize it. it ill just not park it's non existent heads incase of being dropped because there will be no affect to the drive.
i dont know what the guy below me is talking about needing to image your old drive on to this. i did a clean install in about 20 min and had no problems

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive, fast drive

Pros: Great ssd drive, Did a HD tach test, 173mbps burst read, 138mbps average read. I also installed xp in about 20 min, boot up time has been cut down too around 15 seconds now. it boots quick. I havent noticed any lag on it. and its a good deal also, 128gb ssd at 255$.

Cons: None yet for me

Other Thoughts: very good drive, especially if you wanna use it for a laptop. I am thinking of picking up another one for my desktop. Would be nice too get a raid set up going

5 out of 5 eggsSSD on OS X with Unibody MacBook

Pros: Ridiculously fast. I'm using Xbench and some of the READ scores are in the 15,000+ range (100 is the benchmark.) SSDs are definitely the future and it looks like the WRITE speeds are catching up - but are definitely not on par with the READs.

Cons: Spendy. This cost $100 less than it did 2 weeks ago when I bought it!!! If you are planning to use OS X (at least Leopard 10.5.5) you will need to image your OS onto this drive and then deploy to your machine.

Other Thoughts: Not sure about how this drive is positively affecting battery life. Can't wait for what these will be like in the next couple of years!!!

2 out of 5 eggsCOOL BUT!

Pros: when it comes to read it is not bad. Fast load times. snappy programs. go around 110mb read speeds

Cons: DO NOT BUY THIS if you want to be writing data a lot. Personally wait a couple years. I bet these will be really sweet. write times way slower than my 7200 rpm laptop drive :(

5 out of 5 eggsFast SSD

Pros: This drive is fast. The Min read speed 134 MB/s, max read speed 160 MB/s, average read speed 151.5 MB/s, .2 ms access time, burst rate 152.1 MB/s. I installed Windows XP in 15 minutes. No system freezes when running multiple tasks.

Cons: non.

Other Thoughts: I'm running this drive on a Thinkpad T400 with a P8400 CPU.
