  • newegg Cost-effective Performance The Patriot Torqx 2 SSDs are designed and built for cost-effective performance. By leveraging a cutting-edge new SSD controller with 128MB DRAM cache and high-quality 3x-nm NAND flash, the Torqx 2 achieves up to 270MB/s of sequential read speeds and up to 230MB/s of sequential write speeds for a noticeable performance boost with daily computing tasks. For desktops and notebooks lack of SATA 6.0 Gb/s, the Torqx 2 delivers the perfect balance of price and performance. (Based on internal ATTO Disk Benchmark testing.)
  • newegg A Superior PC Experience In addition to enhanced performance, a Torqx 2 SSD upgrade promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs provide peace of mind with their superior durability and reliability.
  • newegg Trim Support Patriot Torqx 2 SSDs offer native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.

2 out of 5 eggsDidn't last long

Pros: Was fast...

Cons: This sd lasted around 6 months.I did some research and this happens ALOT .i heard they don't even make it anymore.

Other Thoughts: I thought I was being safe because I have 6 tb hd and I wanted to finally get a sd to save the op. I've had regular hd for over 4 years

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsITX Server Boot Drive

Pros: Price. Paid 30 bucks after rebate. Formats to 59.5 GB. Large enough for Win7 boot drive. Low heat, low power consumption. WEI = 7.2

Cons: Sata 2. Asyncronous NAND.

Other Thoughts: Not the fastest SSD out there, but much faster than the 2.5" mechanical drive it replaced. Using this as the boot drive in a server. I was careful, and didn't have the sata connector problems reported in other reviews. Paired this with a WD10EARS 1TB 'green' drive for data. Running on an Intel D510MO motherboard in a Thermaltake Element Q case. No problems so far.

5 out of 5 eggsUsed in My MCE/Securtiy DVR

Pros: Stable, Fast.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wanted to use more than 4 Gigs but my Hardware based 16 Channel Security DVR card has no 64 bit support so I am stuck running W7 X32! the PC is also running a Ceton 4 channel MC Cable Card tuner, The system has been rocky solid for 2-3 months it runs 24/7 not one crash!!! I have had to reboot my WD router atleast 10 times since I put this system in service so I would say this memory is stable!!!

5 out of 5 eggs2 months no issues used as boot drive in DVR

Pros: Stable, Fast,

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Installed in a I3 PC used a 16 channel Security DVR and a Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe cable card tuner DVR, as the boot drive for W7 Ultimate x32, it has been stable since day one my Xbox 360 extenders are loading recorded TV twice as fast and the Security DVR seems happy with the drives preformance.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to Drive SATA Adapter Broken. Never again buying a Patriot product.

Pros: - Patriot replaced my drive with the broken SATA connector with a brand new one after emailing customer service.

Cons: - Had to buy another drive in the meantime, but getting a new drive in the end left me very satisfied.

Other Thoughts: - Would definitely recommend Patriot again based on the RMA experience (rebates also go through fine).

4 out of 5 eggsPleased

Pros: Pretty fast; easy install; Bios and win 7 recognized it and installed without a hitch. Got my 20 dollar rebate from Patriot.

Cons: Somewhat expensive per gb ($40 after my rebate) but not for an SSD.

Other Thoughts: Using this as my boot drive on my HTPC. Works well for that. Nothing wrong with the drive just not quite the performance increase I was expecting. This isn't sata 3 or top of the line in terms of read/write speed, so I can't expect those speeds (and maybe that's what I was incorrectly expecting). This was my first ssd. Wanted to give them a try and this was a good cheap drive that I could test the SSD waters out on. Don't get me wrong, it made my computer a little snappier and it is noticeable - just not blazing fast like some ssd's. Overall I'm satisfied (I mean, it was only 40 bucks after rebate) and I would purchase one again. I think this is a great 1st SSD for anyone wanting to try them out.

1 out of 5 eggsDrive SATA Adapter Broken. Never again buying a Patriot product.

Pros: The rebate came quickly.

Cons: The SATA power connector broke the first time I connected a cable to it. Clearly a manufacturer defect, which other reviews have noted.

Despite having bought RAM and USB flash drives from Patriot in the past, I would never, ever buy from them again, and will actively dissuade my friends from doing so as well.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I'm sorry to hear that you had some issues with our drive connector breaking. Please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll be glad to look into the matter.

Kind Regards,
Rod

4 out of 5 eggsMay not work with some laptops

Pros: Cheap SATA2 SSD with decent read performance.
Read - Max: 263.2 Min: 235.7 Avg: 255.8
Write - Max: 215.3 Min: 17.3 Avg: 44.1
Avg Access Time: 0.6ms
Tested with "Disk Utility" in Linux Mint.

Cons: If you look at Newegg's picture, the SATA port is not flush with the bottom of the drive as it should be. It will not fit in devices that require the drive to slide into the SATA connectors like my laptop or my backplane. I bought this drive at a local retailer and the original and the one I swapped it for had the same issue. I suppose this is why some of the reviewers on here broke the SATA connectors on their drives. A better solution is to remove the outer aluminum casing if you want it to fit.

Other Thoughts: As long as you're aware of this issue, it's a fine drive for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsLove 'em, plan to get more.

Pros: Cheap, reliable, fast, more than enough room for your average document-based office machine. I run the IT at our small business, and I have 3 of these HD's on i3/i5 office machines (and one of the 32gb models). Absolutely no problems, but the 32gb one is a bit small if you need to run the full office suite plus some extra stuff (Adobe, a-v, etc). I had to disable the Win7 suspend and backup functions to get the 32 to be usable, but the 64's are great.
I still have this in my queue for the next build I need.

Cons: None encountered.
